The Hours one was a bit too strong at the beginning. it needed the appropriate undercurrent of piano 16th notes or whatever you used to create that lull like the real score does. liked the fall, though.
Excellent job. The Scream 2 music seemed vaguely harsh at points but the strings were expertly placed and the ending thud conicided perfectly. The Hours music was extremely understanted and quite dramatic. I believe (in regard to the Scream 2 sequence) that if your music had been used it may well have fallen into the extremely recognizable and popular category of scores for films such as Halloween, Jaws and most notably, Psycho.
i agree that on the second one, the tv should of kept going as she was still in the room and then fade out. The plucking at the beginning, i felt was very out of place. i understand its a horror movie and there is a lot you can do with that, but don't go to crazy. sorry if you think I am a jerk
I like the score for Scream. And yeah, I noted a tinge of Hermann there as well. :)
The score for The Hours is nice, but find it a bit too 'strong' for the scene. It kinda jumps out (no pun intended) from the visuals and competes for attention. I think it will work better in the opening scene, the one where Woolf drowns herself. Hope you take this comment well. :)
Oh, and note to Sarah Michelle Gellar: When chased by a knife welding psychopath try heading for the front door instead of the second floor from which there is no exit. Just a thought.
I really liked the first one, though I thought both the quick guitar portion and the hearbeat were a bit out of place.
The second one was solid as well. Nice work on the foley. If it were me I might have had the sound of the TV keep going in the background for the entirety of the time she is in the room and then fade out as she exits.
Anyway, nice ob. if you ever want to score some student films...
Corey, very original. I loved Hours, very dramatic. Scream was good, I'm not a horror film gal, but I liked it. It was different than most horror films. Great job.
First impressions - liked the Hours a lot - good buildup of tension without being obtrusive... Scream, well, I'm not a big fan of horror films, but I thought this was more "rhythmic" than most scores of this type - not that it should sound like every other horror film score... but for some reason I didn't feel as much tension/suspense as I did in the Hours clip (never seen either movie).
the hours one was great an i really liked the scream one except for the like cheering that happened at around 2:23. but the rest was really good. gr8 job
love what sounded like heart beating at :57 and the piano when he fell was fantastic!!! Scream was ok didn't care for the gong when she looked behind door- loved the fast change when he came out of the closet made me jump!! Ok take in mind i know nothing about music just my observation from watching it. Great Job!
can anyone please upload their last dialogue.. the music is sooo annoying ..

The Scream one really got to the fear, though.

Two very different ways to handle the falling motif. I thought both were excellent for the films they were backing.
