  • This made me tear.. .. This video is so amazing. It's really true, I always believed we have our conscious awareness, then, our purely genetical makeup/biological processes.

  • Why dislike this?

  • does anyone else hear crazy gutteral sounds at 7:10? is that her?

  • as inspiring as this is, I would suspect that she is not autistic, but something else that resembles it.

  • Wow

  • She has wonderful parents. If she hasn't dealt with the gut issues that come with autism, hopefully she will address that and gain relief from the physical and brain manifestations. If she hasn't tried the gluten/casein free diet, don't knock it until you try it (for at least a year religiously)

  • I am deeply encouraged by the pro.gress Carly has made for my 8 year old Grandson, who is intelligent and is also non-verbal. He is fortunate, because he doesn't have any physical disabilities.

  • @jradetzky after reading your comment, it makes me feel that what the hell has this world turned into.. No point cursing you cause people like you never change. just go watch the video if it hurts you so much.

  • @iamrealcooldude 8===============D

  • such a touching story.. wish i have caring parents like hers

  • I cannot believe the disgusting hateful trolls that post the most disturbing and venomous things on this thread. Have you nothing better to do with your time than hurt people? Sickening.

  • Talk with your mind, listen with your eyes...sometime,even if you have a voice...you still cant be heard...

  • Can someone pass me her twitter account?

  • 8:28-8:40 broke my heart...</3 :(

im writing this with tears in my eyes...and i feel a mix of emotions about it...

  • @saveltoros You have no soul

  • @saveltoros i hope you burn in hell for this

  • @Happytreefriendsfan3 Dude relax, I was just stating a fact...

  • OH MY GOD! LOOK AT 5:09 INTERNET EXPLORER!

  • God Bless You

  • incredible and inspiring

  • I'm surprised she could stare at the computer screen for any amount of time at all. I was told in my abnormal child psychology class that people with autism have trouble looking at computer screens because they can see the constant blinking of the light that we can't see. Contributes to the sensory overload thing.

  • my brother is EXACTLY how she used to be, but i dont see how it would ever be possible to even get him to sit down and type. its so frustrating i want to punch a wall because its not fair to him. i KNOW he understands things, but i know he cant explain how this all feels to him. it makes me miserable. itd be miraculous to to just for once know what hes thinking.

  • Wow, what a great example of how our Father treats us in our spiritual autism

  • Remarkable!

  • Good for her! I hope they find a cure to this. It's a scary thought to feel like your body will explode and it's so sad, but at the same time a happy thought comes to mind because we can now finally understand what kids with autism are going through :) Best of luck to you and your family and also to finding a cure.

  • Who the fuck dislikes a video like this?

  • Absolutely amazing. Bless her heart, Dear God. // Also of deep interest is the role that modern technology plays in these cases, such as Carly's, with her intelligent use of a PC to open up to the world and at the same time, help herself emotionally and mentally. // Thanks SQ for uploading this moving ABC story.

  • The only thing anyone seems to observe her type in this video is "Is hhe cute". In which, obviousy, "he" is misspelled. Everything else that she supposedly typed is spelled and punctuated perfectly. She's supposed to be intelligent, she knows the 20/20 crew is there to tell her story, and yet when the reporter tries to have a conversation, she sits with her finger "hovering over the keys for hours." And when she does type, we never see a shot that includes both her and what she's typing.

  • @Andulamb This reminds of me of that "My Child Could Paint That" documentary about that little girl that was supposedly a gifted painter. And yet in the documentary you never see her paint anything. This autistic girl may have enough intelligence to type a little, with coaching, but I have serious doubts that she has typed the things her parents claim she has typed. Which of the many things she typed explains why she feels the need to smear poop on the walls? Sorry, not buying it.

  • @Andulamb I don't know the extent of your knowledge of the Autism Spectrum Disorders, but a common characteristic is a difficulty with change in routine and structure, and that includes strangers. The 20/20 crew is interrupting her normal routine and regular sense of structure, and the extra lights, cameras, and people are causing a much more intense sensory overload than she is normally used to. Accomplishing normal tasks can be challenging with routine changes and sensory overload.

  • @gmegz06 Try it yourself. Turn on the TV, turn on some music, turn them up really loud, turn on fans, what have you. Where you and I normally can tune out the drones of our computers and the hum of a florescent light, children with sensory processing disorders, and especially children with ASD and sensory overload, can't. Take every sound you've ever heard in your home and amplify it 100x. Then write a paper or do some advanced math.

  • This is very sad because my friend's sister is autistic just like her...

  • Who would dislike this sort of thing??? 7 people have as of now. This is amazing! It could greatly lead to helping understand Autism and possibly lead to breakthroughs.

  • Amazing and incredibly touching. My sister has autism, but down's syndrome as well. I thought I knew a lot about autism, but this really is a different look inside what it's like. I want to read Carly's novel :)

  • Had those parents paid closer attention to her fecal smearing, they would have seen that she was actually decoding string theory right on their bathroom wall. genious

  • instead I would had to use sign language. My mum and dad were determined to help me change, I wouldnt be able to type this message today if it hadnt been for my mum and dad! Keep inspiring carly!

  • Remarkable! carly's parents never gave up on her. The funny thing is she is reminding me of myself, I'm only 23 and still today find it challenging to express my views by mouth but I can express them better when I'm writing. Yes I too had severe autism when I was a baby and the doctor's believed I would never talk or live a normal life, ------>

  • ss

  • Wow, this is absolutely incredible.

  • @RetardShittyMan but enough about you

  • @RetardShittyMan ok...now goto bed and lets the adults chat

  • This is absolutely incredible. I can see autistic research and therapy making a humongous leap thanks to this girl.

  • what is her blog address. I want to be a member. I am a teacher and would like to learn how to help students if possible to create a good environment and how to understand how to support children with this

  • Awesome, Carly. Simply wonderful.

  • I wonder if this might lead to some breakthroughs. For example, I thought it was quite a revelation hearing, from her, why she was acting the way she does. Pain? Sensory overload? Not a random emotional "tantrum" but flailing because the nerves and sensor inputs are out of control? At the very least, it might lead to some other avenues of treatment. Treatments so far may have been going down entirely the wrong path.

  • @corecommander Treatment as psychology and science views it is not the most accurate. Autism is not an illness, it is when the logic created from sensory input does not make sense. The conscious mind is not working properly, but subconsciously an Autistic person is the same as you. If someone related to this girl is reading this, tell her or her parents to find a Hypnotherapist that specialises in Autism. I have seen great results from hypnotherapy in this field - far greater than psychologists.

  • they already disproved the immunization theory.. read the studies. All the top scientists and acredited studies point towards genetics. And Carly you are an inspiration!! what an incredible insight.

  • thats awesome that shes done this for herself

  • I'm not a dad and I don't look after children with disabilites but I felt the father of Carly's emotions. I saw it in his face. Joy and hurt 8:27-9:02 Optimism appreciation 9:32-9:53. I felt really emotional when he said he recalled Carly wishing that he can be in her body to really see what it's like to have her challenges. I wish the best for Carly and her family!

  • Wow, this is incredible. I am so inspired. She makes me want to do everything in the world!

  • What a wonderful story. As a father of two, I was moved to tears, by the father in this clip. It would be really good if one day this girl can work with Doctors to help develop approaches for treating autism.

  • Carly, i must say you are brave. You are beautiful. You are unique. (:

Nobody has the rights to judge youh. Jia youhs, Carly! ^^

  • God bless her parents for not giving up. I don't know if I would ever have the human strength to do what they did. They must be truly amazing people. Such an inspiring story. Thank you.

  • @vegasmom28 Keep your abomination aka ''god'' out of this.

  • @Michaelmop No. I'm sorry. I will not. Keep your "hate issues" to yourself.

  • @vegasmom28 The irony in this comment is fucking huge. But obviously an ignorant naive dumb religious fuck wouldn't know that. God doesn't exist and only a person with the intellect of an ant would ignore such a fact. God has absolute nothing to do with this, nor is he relevant in any way. Grow up.

  • @Michaelmop Grow up? You're going around spewing hatred without reason. I did no such thing. I said nothing but for God to bless them for being such amazing people. (And by the way it has 32 likes right now.) You come on here only to attack people for their faith and throw insults. You are the one that needs to grow up.

  • @vegasmom28 Hahaha, I'm ''spewing hatred'' huh? Maybe do some fucking research about your pathetic religion and we'll see who's ''spewing the hatred'', ignorant piece of shit. I told you before, and I'll tell you again. Your imaginary buddy doesn't exist, so fuck your ''god bless'' saying. It adds absolutely nothing to their existence and it's as hollow as a fucking lunch box. Who gives a fuck about those useless thumbs up. You're pathetic for caring about that. Grow the fuck up, again. Imbecile

  • @Michaelmop Your comment clearly show that you are no better than those who show up at the funerals of soldiers with hateful protests or the KKK for that matter. You know nothing of me or my faith yet you come in here to judge, hate and insult people simply for their beliefs. For all you know, the father of this girl believes in God and if so, you've just insulted him and his family as well. Very mature indeed.

  • @vegasmom28 How the fuck have I insulted his entire family, if only he believes in this non existing thing. If someone has insulted someone else here, it's still gonna be your bloody religion. This world would be better of without it and all the people who believe in it, for they are nothing but blind ignorant fools that can't use common logic or reason. My comment clearly shows how fucking dumb you are, that's what it shows. So have a big cup of stfu and next time hold your religious bullshit.

  • @Michaelmop Well if they do believe you've insulted he and his family because you just said the world would be better without them and called all those who believe in God "ignorant f*cks". Do you even listen to yourself? I offered a small blessing in kindness and all you have done is spout venomous and offensive statements towards people who have faith in God. And you tell me to grow up? Wow. Keep talking. You keep proving how heedless, cruel and mean spirited you really are.

  • @vegasmom28 Religion is like a dick. It's fine to be proud of it, but you don't whip it out in public and you definitely don't force it down other people their throats.

But then again, it's actually not fine to be proud of your flawed religion.

  • @Michaelmop Ummm, "shoving it down people's throats"?? Really/ I said God Bless them. That is all. Again, you make no sense what so ever.

  • @vegasmom28 It was a fucking example. Damn, you really are stupid. Keep your religious bullshit for yourself. GOT IT? That's the message I'm trying to tape on that dumb fuck brain of yours.

  • @Michaelmop No. I will not stop blessing people, praying for theme or thanking God. It's freedom of speech and it's not offensive or hateful (though YOUR posts are) If you don't like it, don't read it. Simple. I could care less what you think of me. I find it sad that you waste your life being angry and hating others for their beliefs. You must be a very lonely person. I truly feel sorry for you.

  • @vegasmom28 WHY THE FUCK would you keep doing that bullshit, to Atheists aka people who aren't religious??? It makes no fucking sense and YOU ACTUALLY ARE OFFENDING US. Fucking hell it's amazing how ignorant and naive you are. You don't feel sorry for anything cunt. I'm the one here who pities your very fucking soul, from what's left of it. I don't give a shit how much you care about my words. At least you fucking read em. You're wasting your time outside of church. You're better off dead.

  • @Michaelmop Doing what? Did did NOTHING to you. I posted to the person who made this video about the parents. It has nothing to do with YOU or atheists. You are a sad angry person that has serious mental and emotional issues. You need profession help.

You know nothing about me or what I do but, whatever. Continue to judge others and display your hate and intolerance. Your remarks make atheists look as bad as those who fly planes into buildings. Good for you.

  • @vegasmom28 If you were born in fucking iraq you'd be muslim. If you were born in greece hundreds of years ago you would be believing in freakin' Apollo and Zeus. You're all the same and you're a fucking joke. Grow up.

  • @vegasmom28 I and a shit ton of others have very obvious reasons to hate your beliefs. I'll give you a simple example. Millions and millions of deaths, fucking scumbag.

  • @Michaelmop You know nothing of my beliefs. You only assume. Btw, your continuous use of bad language and insults only magnifies your lack of intelligence

  • @vegasmom28 You must've been raised in one of these anti-cursing families, haha. Let me guess. I'm sinning like a motherfucker right now? I'm going to hell or so? Nope.jpg. There is no such a thing.

  • @Michaelmop Nope. not at all. And again you know nothing of me or my life or my faith. I'm simply pointing out that you are not capable of intelligent communication without the use of insults and cursing. You are not even capable of reason or kindness. You are only capable of hate. You wish death on people? Then as I stated, you are clearly no better than individuals who fly planes into buildings or KKK. Your heart is just as black as theirs.

  • @Michaelmop Wow. You are absolutely ridiculous. Again, you know nothing of my beliefs. Yes you wished death on me and others who believe in God. Again, insulting many people on this thread and possibly even the people who posted this video. You incredibly immature and a sad human being. I can't imagine what tragedy happened to you to put so much hate in your heart but its very sad indeed. You should seek help and perhaps medication for depression.

  • @vegasmom28 Hahaha, it always makes my day to bump into one of you Christians... Such a funny group of ignorant cunts you are. I'm gonna give up on you now, because you've proven to me, that you're no exception, what so ever. The things I just said, basically relate to the fact that I'm gonna block your pathetic existence. Which will prevent me from getting any more e-mails about your pathetic little replies. I truly do hope that you die in a fire, because you're absolutely no good to this earth

  • @Michaelmop no loss to me.

  • @vegasmom28 replying again, would make you even more of a fool, haha... omfg..

  • Not as much of a fool as an atheist that says "omfg"

  • I just wanted to say "thank you" for sharing this story. I cried when I saw it. I know several autistic persons, and NOW I understand them. I would not say that I did not like them, but that I simply did not relate to them. Now, I understand. Now, I take the time, and give them the room they need, and accept them. It has helped BOTH of us. I'm a dad, with several children. I am sharing this with them too. My children will also understand too. Thanks again for sharing. N

  • Can someone provide info on her blog and Twitter pages?

  • Can someone provide info on her blog and Twitter pages?

  • Thank you Carly for sharing!

  • Four people dont like this...They must be idiots

  • Does anyone know this girl's twitter? I'd LOVE to follow her!

  • I have come to realize that the people who have the most problems are the ones who are the most beautiful inside and out. Like Carly these people face struggles that we wouldn't have issues with on a day to day basis. We should all take advice from these people and look at the good things we get to enjoy everyday instead of institutionalizing and making fun of them. Autistic and special educations kids are my favorite kind of people, they really know how to have a truly positive outlook on life.

  • Touching, beautiful and ever so telling. How thrilled so many of us are to learn that Carly has the same feelings, desires, needs and intelligence that we all have. Thank you, Carly, for teaching us and may you forever be able to reach your dreams. You are a beautiful person and huge compliments to your parents for not giving up and forever believing in your child!

  • Inspirational. Amazing what dedication and devoted parents and child can accomplish.

  • This is amazing !!!

Confidence and Attitude of EVERYONE is 90% on the road to Accomplishment & Success !!!

  • Comment removed

  • Nice story, but i fail to see the "Profound Intelligence" ??

  • @atarimental you mean, besides the fact that she was only supposed to have the capacity of a six year old?

  • People who said that she is faking this for attention are saying that for attention. They have no heart.

  • @princessfaiththia There are some very sick people, aren't there? Many people are terribly cruel.

  • this girl is most probably going straight to paradise for the hell she is facing here on earth

  • There was a story a while back about a man who was in coma for 15 years or so. They thought he was brain dead until one day he awoke and described how he could sense everything around him for those 15 years, but could not communicate. I believe there are a lot people trapped in their bodies and cannot communicate. Even worse they are written off as mentally challenged or worse. Kudos to the family for dedicating themselves to improve her quality of life.

  • :'-)

  • we need to learn something from these kids, infact all kids and those that are unable to reason like full healthy adults including animals. They test our patience everyday and generally as a humanbeing, seeing this video inspired me to be good in every way possible to anything and everything around me. I SOLUTE YOU . GOD BLESS YOU AND ALL THAT WORKED WITH YOU,INCLUDING YOUR PARENTS. it really made me cry but also happy

  • I sure wish those two were my parents. I'm autistic, and was abandoned & neglected, which allowed other adults to sexually abuse me. I hope they give hope & inspiration to other parents. They definitely deserve an award.

  • @Soressi1 OMGSH !!!! REALLLY !!! WHAT KIND OF PARENTS ARE THEY !! I HOPE ONE DAY YOU WOULD FIND SOMEONE WHO LOVES YOU FOR BEING YOU . dnt let anyone put you down . stand up for yourself !! DW im sure one day you would live a good life ! always believe ! ill pray for you !!! dnt eveer doubt yourself ! you have to believe in something to make it happen :)

  • @Soressi1 Hi Soressi1,

I know some people have been mean to you, and I want to apologize for their actions. You don't deserve that. You are a beautiful and kind human being. Just know that you are very special and you are loved by many strangers, myself included :)

  • I am very curious to know if Carly and her twin sister are identical twins or fraternal twins because that gives a genetic clue if they are identical. Congratulations btw you must be so happy about her progress!

  • Amazingly strong people, Thumbs up for Carly and her father and the rest of her family.

  • interesting specimine

  • Nice job Carly. I have found that most, if not all kids with ASD, understand way more than people realize. And.. they often seem to pick up a new skill after years of exposure, in one day. "Recovering Autism and Special Needs," and "Recovering Autism ADHD and Special Needs," are free youtube videos. It is amazing how screaming , fitting 3 year olds with severe Autism can suddenly tell you most of what happened on a day to day basis, by age 11. Thanks and take care, Shell

  • @cockmongel i highly doubt you can fake something like that for attention. I mean seriously what makes you even think she would fake something like that?

  • Amazing. Truly Amazing. My brother is autistic, touches me to see his perspective on life. Carly you're beautiful, never give up. <3

  • great video, very educational subject...just one comment. "Institutionalizing" someone is not like "givin up you kid". This is such a wrong conception. It all depends on what kind of institution and how they would treat the person.

Proper institutions will help your kid and you as a family. Its not like locking sonone up in a barn or something like that. open your eyes.

  • It's because of shit like the MMR-vaccination, I'm lucky to only have a mild version of this crap. She seems so severely harmed that it must have had to do something with it, no doubt in my mind.

  • @JohnnyX1239 You're a fool. There's about as much evidence for THAT as there is for Santa Clause. You would bring back the days of regular childhood death because of one discredited study, a lot of hype, and a desire for something or someone to blame.

    Not cool.

  • @Alteredstory I just really don't get that people see no connection between a baby getting a zillion vaccines with Mercury and other crap in it, all this and yet no one expects this to happen..There must be a link, since many autistic children have all sorts of immune system and metabolic problems. These doctors just don't want to get arrested so they keep deceiving people with their quakery..

  • @JohnnyX1239 Post hoc ergo proctor hoc? Anecdotes don't really make for a reliable case - if they did, then we'd probably still arrest people for witchcraft.

If you're worried about MERCURY, try power plants and industry - they combine to emit 117 TONS of mercury into the atmosphere in this country every year. That disperses to a LOT of mercury gas, and it accumulates, hence all the fish warnings. Check out the WHO's "Children's exposure to mercury compounds".

  • I would like to be able to get her web link. this has given me some sight on a few things. and i would love to tell her how she has helped me.

  • well I think she,s brilliant, and as the the comment about only being able to type in front of a camera.you no nothing about autism at all ,and some of comment,s on here make me feel sick ,how can you call your self human being you must have all the self loathing of wolf in sheep's clothing to redirect so much self hatred ,my god get out read some book.s do something to return to your self a human being ,,

  • @DoraBieber1

    carlysvoice on twitter

  • @DoraBieber1

Google Carly Fleischmann. You'll find her Facebook with links to Twitter and whatnot.

  • Absolutly Amazing!!!!

  • Very inspirational!

  • wheres the dubstep mix?

  • there's something fishy about this.

at 5:13 she writes something deep and meaningful with perfect spelling/grammar, but then, at 6:21 it's "i woneand got to take my computer

    i like spellingon my bed"

and why would she smear feaces all over the bathroom because her body feels like it's on fire?

  • @BillyKidmann i totally agree. it seems like she can only spell the words correctly when the camera isn't on her... mucho suspicious.

  • @BillyKidmann You are an ignorant fool. You are looking at this as someone who has a clear mind (more or less). You don't understand because you choose not to.

  • @BillyKidmann You must realise that the show is edited and it takes her a long time to type things out. Holy cow, YOU are supposed to be the intelligent one? Would you watch for hours of her typing? Of course not. Ever heard of spell check? Well they have 3 programs that they use to help her talk. You know Roger Ebert and Stephen Hawking use programs too! Sheesh, grow up!

  • @BillyKidmann There's something fishy about you. It's a program, it's edited. Maybe she has good days and bad days.....you obviously don't know much about the spectrum of autism. If you're going to make comments, try doing some research first. She was born with autism, what's your excuse?

  • What's her twitter?

  • I have to tell my moms boyfriend about this.

  • I have a grandson and a granddaughter from two different children who are on the Autism Spectrum. They are each delightful and fun and funny and charming in their very individual ways. I have seen times when their behavior has reminded of someone trying to deal within the skin they have with life yet are frustrated, sometimes scared, and often angry as they grow older and become more aware...but there has always been the gleam of intelligence in those beautiful eyes. This is a great video!

  • What's her Twitter??

  • Wow, what a beautiful person! :) It's funny how the more a person is challenged in life, the stronger they become! I would love to read her book.

  • god bless her

  • my brother is special needs and has autism and i love him.

  • Very beautiful girl! God bless her!

  • anyone know her blog? I'd love to read it!

  • wtf is the sound at 7:06 !?!?!

  • @Alzdr she explains it at 7:20 when typing. It is an attempt to drain out sensory input. She's making the sounds in her throat and mouth.

  • @cljanney Ah k, thought she was possessed by a demon!

  • does anyone know the twitter of her??

  • icarly

  • This actually kind of depresses me a bit. My sister is autistic and it really saddens me that this could possibly be her thoughts...

  • i'd hit it

  • I loved this. I myself am High functioning autistic. Though my main concern is people assuming we are either all stupid or all like Rain man. Autism is such a diverse thing. Sure we share traits but we still are not the same. This goes with all stereotypes and I think that not all media actually helps. This did help people understand that we are not all the same so I am really happy about this.

  • 4 people are... are awful awful people.

  • You are a wonderful father - you and Carly will make such a difference to thousands of people. Thank-you for your story!

  • I'm Autistic...and i have a friend with Autism similar to hers...i know what she's going through.

(mine is Aspergers, and my friend CAN speak, though not in full sentences...usually single words.)

  • SHE IS A WARRIOR!

  • Life itself is a miracle..

    Our bodies are so complex!

  • @TOMYN6675682 carlys voice

  • What kind of person would dislike this video?

  • Does she play minecraft?

  • whats her username on Twitter????

  • Only word I can think of is inspiration. I work with a young man with autisim and everyday when I see him doing something for stim I always say "I wish I could be in your head to see what you think". It blows me away that you can tell why you do that. You my friend are truly amazing and it gives hope to parents/workers out there. God bless you and your family.

  • great video, thanks Carly for sharing your experience. you are awesome and brave.

  • Kudos to the parents, they have the right attitude, never, ever give up. Our daughter is also autistic, yet we feel blessed, because we have learned and gained so much. God doesn't give you what you want, but you will get what you need. All these kids have special gifts, it just takes the right person and approach to bring it out!

  • What's her username on Twitter?!

  • An amazing girl who has the potential to greatly increase our knowledge of a frustratingly difficult disease. What a wonderful Dad and family she has!

  • wish could write to her is there an official site?

  • this made me cry! To hear or even have my son write he loved me is something I am missing!

  • OMG! Tears, manly tears!
