Sonnen did not have to take this fight. That tells me he knows he is going to win. I really hope he works on his triangle defense. Most of his losses are by triangle. I'm not an mma fighter, but if your caught in a triangle why can't you posture up and turn the guy over then put him in a Sharp Shooter like Brett Hart.

unfortunately,munoz' only chance is is a lucky knockout.but its a convinient coincedence that chael sonnen has endless cardio,and freakish strength,along with a steriod related suspension.i honestly have no idea how long they stay in your system,or if there are lasting effects after you stop using them,but i got a feeling sonnens strength and cardio isnt just from training.....

Steroids don't help cardio, if anything doing steroids hurts cardio. A guy with more muscle mass has less endurance. Look at cross country runners, amazing cardio, but they are all skinny as shit.

@erosener93 steroids do help cardio.yes,having more muscle mass makes you have worse cardio,but steriods dont make you have more muscle mass.they encourage the growth of muscle by putting more testosterone or growth hormones in your system.those hormones make you stronger,they make you have more stamina,and thats why they are ileagal.

@erosener93 and normally,you would be 100% right.but you know how it is when your really pissed off and you feel way stronger than normal,and you just dont get tired? steroids make it like that all the time.im not neccessarily trying to accuse chael of anything, but the fact tht he has been suspended for banned substances makes his cardo and strength seem less like an impressive gift,and more like roids.

@24codyc he was suspended for substances that he had cleared with the commision, originally he was suspended for a year then he had his hearing and proved in 3 seperate ways that he had disclosed to the athletic commision that he was on TRT at which point they lowered his suspension down to 6 months which is basically the same as saying 'we were wrong'. however like all other governing bodies they always want to appaer to be right all the time which imo is why the ban wasnt lifted completely

I think we have to see the variables in regards to the OKAMI thing. Firstly, right after the Okami-Sonnen Fight, Yushin went on immediately to train w/ Chael, one would imagine it being Take Down Def. My point being, when Okami fought Munoz he had a good background on wrestling (c/o Sonnen).

Yes Chael has better Wrestling BUT Dont delude yourself that Chael is a better striker. Munoz trains with, Anderson, Aldo, Machida, Dos Santos. He has better Jiu jiutsu, SPEED, CARDIO, AND STRIKING, Maybe even clinch work.

@XMarkstheGamer Chael won in the striking before taking Anderson down, he actually almost dropped Silva in the first round, Chael then took him down and silva came back in the later rounds and landed some good strikes. And Munoz trains at Kings MMA with Mayhem, Shogun, Wanderlei and Jake Ellenberger etc. Not the fighters you mentioned. And chances are Sonnen will win fairly easily, can't rule out Munoz, but his chances are slim.

@1608Nikolai I do agree with you, i think chael surprised silva with the pace and intensity he set at the beginning of the fight. but in the first or second round, i forget, it seemed that silva dropped his hands as if to taunt sonnen and chael fucking flattened him. My point is, i don't understand silvas mentality as a fighter when he taunts, guages and subsequently tries to beat his opponent. Was he waiting to submit sonnen in the later rounds as some people suggest?

@oilusboyne I think he just felt he would catch Sonnen if he left himself open, hes so dependent on his head movement and elusiveness he feels hes just to quick for anybody, he may have wanted to submit Sonnen, because he is vunerable to it, but he never planned to get beat up the way he did, if Sonnen hadn't got careless he'd be the champion and there would be nothing Silva could have done.

And as far as striking goes, I think Chael is more technical and is more accurate with his punches and kicks, but Munoz definitely throws the more powerful shots. Munoz is a good grappler as well, but honestly, his mma wrestling isn't in the same league as Chael's. I picture this fight going the same way as Chael-Marquardt
