@joeforhistruth, don't bother about the Bible when dealing with RC. it's an 'imagination', thus y it's called "assumption" they say things which is not in the Bible but as long as the Pope says it, it's unquestionable.
This is one of the most beautiful feasts in the church! Oh So Holy and Blessed the Virgin Mary is. She is in deed the Mother of God and is also the Mother of the Church! The Chanting is so Solemn and Holy! Its like having Mass at the Monastery! Thanks again for this wonderful posting!
It is great that both the Catholic and Orthodox Churches can share this glorious tradition associated with the Virgin Mary, the Blessed Mother of Our Lord, Jesus Christ. I hope that it helps to concentrate minds on the 2000 year old common beliefs that have been extant in both the Western and Eastern parts of the Church universal and which will facilitate the desired unity of all Christians as willed by Our Savior.
The Tomb of the Theotokos is in Jerusalem in Gethsemani - it is in a cave church. Every year is a great Procession with an Icon of the Theotokos which is placed upon the Tomb and is venerated by the faithful with kissing, prostrations, flowers, candles, oillamps, hymns prayers and so on...When she died all Apostles were gathered together by a miracle and they were present at Her falling asleep. Christ also came to receive His Holy Mother and She went to heaven and was crowned there
The Holy Orthodox Church celebrates the Fest of the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos and Evervirgn Mary. She lived Her life and fell asleep and was assumed on the 3rd Day with body and soul! But we do not need a Dogma - we have Holy Tradition!
Exactly, in the RC Church dogma is the crown of long established tradition. Dogma declares certain beliefs as truth and Church's teaching that is not to be disputed, or diverted from.
You know Dogmas are ususally only procclaimed when there are heresies like Arianism, or Nestorius....For orthodox Holy Tradition has authority and we are not allowed to change anything. The Feast of the Dormition of the Most Holy Theótokos and Everviring Mary is a part of that Holy Tradition: in prayers, hymns, iconography, the writings of the Fathers...In orthodox countries we fast before the Dormition 2 weeks, and we celebrate it with much glory - especially in Russia and Jerusalem.
Mary was preserved from sin in order receive Christ, the son of God, Almighty and spotless, in her womb. Sinless, like her Son, it is right that she enter heaven both body and soul, just as her Son did. Even greater, she had been so obedient and so good that it was through God's power and desire that she be lifted up to heaven both body and soul. God gives his Mother to have a great entrance into Heaven.
This film is very touching. As a child to date I have always prayed to Our Lady. You will never believe what my Jewish landlord told the caretaker to help him to throw out our Blessed Mother statue in the dumpster he refused Mr Bomes asked him did he think his God was going to get him! Click on and see !
Thanks for comment and I will certainly pray for you and ask for prayers. May God bless and keep you and may Our Lady intercede and protect you always.
Nice Video. I am marian devotee too.The feast of assumption is coming up and wish you a happy feast day. pray for me . kindly watch my videos too. Ave Maria.

Interesting to choose the credo for the introductory music for a festival with very interesting proper text.
