  • Don't fuck with Europe

  • to be honest i can't really blame the chinese for rebelling.

  • fuck the western people they came to China to invade stole our ancestry Qing Imperial treasures ,destroy Empress Cixi favourite Garden @ sold Opium in China....Long Live Peoples Republic of China for chasing the foreigner out of China.Bravo MAO ZEDANG....

  • stupid asian studies fuck this shit who cares about the boxers omg retarded...

  • Is disgusting how the chines "christians" become traitors to his country under the influence of the catholic church and others foreigns powers, I'm christian but I disapprove this, my country is first !..I'm not chines...Evil powers many times used the religion for conquer the minds of others peoples...

  • rebellion? sound like freedom fighters to me!

  • wow i i hope your teachers sent you here! if not your losers!... if your reading this its me Justin From Higley:) haha

  • @WhalersSwag im Ganna find out were you live and come beat you up... FAGGET

  • @MrQuik2345 You spelled faggot wrong.

  • @WhalersSwag wow that kids gay

  • And look at how arrogant we westerners really are. The Chinese dared fight back against our imperialism and we called them "Rebels". What kind of twisted double-speak backwards logic is that?? We were Invaders...

  • My respect to these boxers!

  • The narrator said... "the boxer invaded Peking"....

OMG they invaded their own country... typical imperialist bastard logic.

  • The narrator said China declared war. What ! The 8 nation alliance invaded China and wanted to carve up land. This is so twisted.

The boxers were the true patriots and fought bravely to drive the western nations out of China.

  • The thing is clear: both were not good to each other, but both had reasons to fight. However, as I see, the trouble is mainly caused by foreign invasion, in terms of economy, religion and so on, before the Boxer Rebellion. One hundred years ago Westerners were not less barbarous than Asians at all. What you see in this clip is the killing of innocent missionaries, but what you cannot see is the killing of more Chinese.

  • @jinhao24 You're right. However, I'm sure the foreign invasion was led by Qing dynasty which didn't try to modernize China; most of Chinese ppl at that time weren't interested in modernizing their own country. if China had been modernized like Japan, the trouble wouldn't have happened.

  • There's is called a Rebellion. But back in the States we called ours a Revolution.

  • @7safiya Yup, overthrow the U.S government 8+ nations will attack your little 99% party..

  • LOL what bullshit is this? china declared war on no one. those boxers just wanted the foreigners out of china by attack the the foreign embassy. then all 8 of the western colonial powers teamed up and declared war on china.

  • @Isreal4realz O.K, you know history!!

  • the uprising was caused by... opium, rape, looting, pillage, conversion, dictate laws, poverty, starvation, fail Manchurian, foreign occupation, and cultural identity. This video mentioned almost none of the causes. Bad documentary

  • Always look at history on both sides and in between if you can. Historians always wrote the history in a way that made themselves the heroes.

The saying goes "one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter"

  • Disgusting. They go them hooked on opium and then began to steal their resources and enslave them. I hate the way historians are so biased and make it seem as if the poor alliances were being attacked by crazed people. I take back my sympathy for the Tsarist empire during the October revolution. Bastards.

  • We owned them because their troops was made in China))) Long live Imperialism and German, Russian and British Empires!!!

  • and theres me lookin' for our 'enry

  • i bet if china vs US now like the boxer rebellion , i bet US will surely win in terms of military superiority , sophisticated weaponry etc ...... again lol

  • @MechPhantom that wouldnt be a rebellion would it?

  • @spike378 yea i guess ?!

  • lol chinese boxers are invulnerable to bullets cannons etC? fake lol i bet

  • Thanks. Good post.

  • @EMPIRE01233

I didn't say that Christianity started in Africa. I said that the term "Middle East" is a ethnocentric attempt to undermine African achievements.

Now, Jerusalem is not in Europe it is located in Asia. Look it up

  • Is this real film footage or is it a re-enactment?

  • Rebellions? against what?--the invasion 8 nations military force and to supoort the Qing government--the western came first and then call the local peasants "rebelions"?? this is absurd.

  • @EMPIRE01233

The Middle east, white mans attempt to get Egypt out of Africa!!!

Dude this is in Asia, Not in Europe OK

  • I find it interesting that they claim Christianity is an alien religion, when in fact Christianity originated in Asia

  • If this ever happens again, the west IS GOING DOWN!

  • @CamelBallZee

Ya china has such a long history of winning, I can already see Gen Tso Chicken army marking down the streets

  • @CSATexan What's that?

  • @CamelBallZee

The Chinese Communist military sucks, they can't fight for shit.

Sure they can beat the crap out of farmers and put down revolts in Tienanmen square but other than that they can't do shit.

But never fear the Christian Chinese will soon take over.

  • @CSATexan No

  • @CSATexan The shitty Chinese military managed to kick out all the foreign invaders with sticks and brooms, and now China is on path to become a world power. Christian Chinese to takeover? Quit dreaming, fool.

  • @PhokKai

Actually the chinas military didn't kick anyone out. Even nations whose logistical lines were thousands of miles long

And loom it up chritianity is the fastest growing religion in china

You are very ignorant of the world. China a world power????

The average wage in china is $4000 a year. I guess you see that as a step up

  • @CSATexan I suppose you don't know anything about PPP; Purchasing Power Parity. China is already overtaking us; unfortunately, we have too many numb nuts like you running this country into the ground.

  • @PhokKai

PPP?????? Are you trying to say that the Chinese farmer can afford to buy gasoline when the price of crude oil doubles?

Are you trying to say that the AVG Chinese person will settle for the current standard of living while their economy grows?

Are you trying to say that China hasn't had dozen of food riots?

  • @CSATexan I'm trying to say you are an idiot, and nobody cares what an idiot has to say.

  • @PhokKai

LOL that is a good way to defend your weak position.

Ignore the facts and claim that China is somehow magically going to be the next super power.

Ignore the fact that the average wage is below poverty level.

  • asian africa studies, that's whatup

  • THUMBS UP IF MR.REED SENT YOU HERE!

  • @shadowwhip MR REEED....who?

  • YEAH MR.REED WOOOOOH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is why China deserve to become a super power

  • when they mix dramatizational footage with "real" footage (of another era) it loses all credibility.

  • this sounds like a propaganda, a documentary is suppose to be neutral, propaganda tells you what to think.

  • Can you blame the Chinese for rebelling at this time? I'm a Westerner, and I don't blame them.

  • Is China in Texas.....???

  • The Chinese version of the current GOP "Tea Party"....

  • The boxers shouldve acted sooner and killed the Christian missionaries right away. Missionaries are the first to go in and brainwash commonfolk to their side.

  • The Boxers are no heroes, they attacked ordinary Chinese civilians just as they attack foreigners. Moreover, they even put every moderate politician in the government on the hit-list and attacked some Chinese garrison that were trying to keep the peace. They were more of a product of Empress Cixi for a political struggle against pro-modernized members of the Qing court that she lost control off. While i disliked the western powers of this time, the boxers are no angels either.

  • lol china had the numbers but still losted

  • @legendarybloodfang The Boxers were just civilians trained in martial arts. But you can never beat someone carrying a gun with a sword. The 8 Nation Invasion force sent in professional armies.

Professional soldiers with guns vs. civilians with melee weapons, who do you think would win?

    You are an idiot.

  • @devilhunterred how the hell am i an idiot? OF COURSE THE SOLDIERS WILL WIN. china had lots of millita but still lost cuz all they have we swords and bows and some times gun they take from the dead

  • @legendarybloodfang China was actually the first to invent gunpowder, firearms and cannons. Learn your facts right.

  • @devilhunterred yet, gunpowder, firearms & cannons were used aganist us! The boxers would have to be REALLY REALLY FUCKIN' STUPID to trust the foreigners with their magic! Like all else if they knew of the magic, I am 110% certain that magic would be used aganist them as well.

If one does not learn from history then one is doomed to repeat it. Knowledge is power, guard it well.

  • @devilhunterred I know that dumbass. the europeans improved the guns they borrowed,

  • @legendarybloodfang China had the best guns up to the end of the Ming dynasty (1644), and the early Qing dynasty (18th century) . Then the Qing dynasty strangely neglected guns, using traditional weapons instead of modern weapons. That is why China went downhill in the 19th century.

  • if any body dare to touch china today, every chinese will be a "boxer" even myself!

  • The boxer's were heroes. Fighting numerous foreign powers that were much stronger than them.

  • @SHUTUPNOOB654 yes!Alies were such bitches to chinese!

  • i'm proud of the boxers...i'm going to get a tattoo representing them.

  • It wasn't just western nations involved in fighting against the Boxers. Japan was also involved. Later Japan occupied parts of China. They wern't very nice to the Chinese people at all.

Britain retained Hong Kong and leased the New Territories. The success of Hong Kong and Singapore is surely one of the reasons China has adopted a more capitalist approach.

  • i don't blame the chinese at all for the uprising, any proud people would do the same thing. too bad the western nations failed to colonize all of china at the time of their weakest state, that was their only opportunity. i'd like to see them try that shit today -.-

  • 2:37 is that a REAL head!

the damage to the summer garden by the internatinal force can still be witnessed today in beijing, i saw the rubble & collapsed pillars; the only thing left is the maze garden.

  • i am proud to be an asian, those westerners still are messing up all asian countrys unfortunately, shame on this honourless westener people i am proud to be a chinese

  • @ichwillpizzajetzt Ironically Japan is the only Asian country took part of this as part of the eight nation alliance. So it not only the western countries that took part of this.

  • @ichwillpizzajetzt Not so proud that you live in China.

  • @JollyRodders hope one day china screw dirt like you out of our country

  • @ichwillpizzajetzt Would that be Germany or China..?? Yeah you love China so much you live in Germany - DoH!!!!

  • @JollyRodders haha stupid, if i would write into my profile i live in africa, would i really live there? where i live for real is none of anyones buisness, keep thinking what you want sob and go to the corner and die, 748 gouzazhong

  • 25.000 whites win over 350.000 chinese, you are a great number, but unwhorty, sorry, i like something of china, but these are facts

  • @ichwillpizzajetzt right on! The boxers were heroes that stood up aganist foregin invasion and protected the interest of the commoner. These legendary magic users were infamous for rebelling aganist 8 nations raping China of its resources, after all China-men were considered "sickness of the East"!

The boxers used magic alot & they were systemically executed, do u think surviving boxers will repeat the same mistake again?! heh - i don't think so!

    100 years ago & things don't change.

  • @ichwillpizzajetzt the japanese did as well

  • the greatest powers of the world ever against a ancient civilization that had barely changed for 300 years

  • liam feb27 im agree with you. no one of there where "heroes" as Edt586 said. because the chinese and the russian, germans and the us soldiers and fighters stormed the entire poblation who has nothing to do with the conflict. and say that in someway there was heroes in this battle is a total mistake

  • the chinese could have actually defeat the europeans and japs if the entire 500 million population fought.....

  • well chinese was guilty in a way too, well both part, and i see that korea was invaded by china, why don't they hate chinese to, like they hate koreans...

  • i didnt know japan sent troops

  • This sounds more like propaganda than a documentary.

They paint the rebels as pure and utter demons...

  • @federationcaptain It's made to be Eurocentric..what do you expect.

  • The clip is from a crappy documentary box set called 'Encyclopedia of the 20th Century: Days that shook the World" disc 1 episode 2.

It is in fact a re-enactment for propaganda to vilify the so called “Boxers”.

  • @privategomer This is a typical Western Propaganda they depicted. I'm Vietnamese American and i really hate what France did to my country. If they wouldn't do that, my country would have not suffered from communism influence. Like how Foreigners did to China. Never say that Vietnam is free from American imperialism. Commies took over my country and turned it all to shit. I hope Vietnam would more developed someday like Japan and South Korea.

  • @privategomer the same exact castle & garden marble columns still stand this very day in Beijing, marked as an historicial site. Its interesting...

  • @privategomer totally agreed, this is like brain-washing

  • Just look at it for what it is. An expanation of the Boxer Rebellion from a western perspective.

  • @federationcaptain The Boxers were glorious heroes who fought against western imperialism. They paint the rebels as demons because the rebels are the ones they are fighting. In truth, the rebels are more just than the westerners making this.

  • @federationcaptain, indeed, this is pure white american-westernized propaganda; there is not other nation in the history of mankind more diabolic, evil, cynical, hypocritical and disgustingly disgusting than usa-america; land of the rush limbaugh-pat robertson-ann coulter-ayn rand-alan greenspan-henry kissinger-ronald reagan-bush-nixon-tea party et al. charlatans-flim flam murderers; in comparison, "barbarian chinese" are holy angels. Blessings & Shalom to the BOXERS,

  • @federationcaptain I don't see how you consider this propaganda. They don't paint them as demons at all! I honestly don't see where you're getting this from at all. THe only part that is at all derogatory in reference to the boxers is their toting of heads. Do you expect the documentary to exclude that just so they don't sound bad?

  • @federationcaptain actually the boxers were assholes they were killing chinese christians and foreign missionaries with the help of thechinese goverment . how are they heroes and how is this documentary wrong?

  • @Lumotaku

I never used the word 'heroes' nor did I say the Boxer's actions were 'right and just', you and everyone else that keeps asserting I did, should learn to proofread.

I merely stated (or at least thought my original post implied), that within this documentary, it paints the Boxer's as purely evil and bloodthirsty, that their grievances (the European division of their land, Treaty Ports, etc) take a back seat Christian martyrdom.

  • @federationcaptain

If one is to document history, one should never be subjective in these matters, there is no 'good' or 'bad'.

Also, the Qing government did help the rebellion, but it was a Batman gambit, attempting to play both (the Eight nation alliance) sides against each other. In short, if the Boxers destroyed the Peking settlement, one problem gone for them.

  • @federationcaptain

If the Boxers were defeated (as was the case), deny all linkage and plausibility, you see the Boxers weren't just mad at foreigners encroaching upon their land, but at the Empire's inability to resist them as well. The rampant corruption that eventually led up to the 1911 revolution led by Sun Yat Sen.

  • @federationcaptain

However, I digress, read "The Boxer Rebellion: The Dramatic Story of China's War on Foreigners that Shook the World in the Summer of 1900" by Diana Preston for a better account than this 'documentary'.

(Comment boxes are not the place for this, I'm prone to typos in these small things :P )

  • @Lumotaku Americans are assholes. They killed american christians with the help of the American government. How are they heroes?

  • @federationcaptain What was shown that was not fact? Is it true that foreign powers attempted to sieze control? Did not the indigenous people have the right to rebel?

  • @federationcaptain What was shown that was not fact? Is it true that foreign powers attempted to sieze control? Did not the indigenous people have the right to rebel?

  • @federationcaptain well they were they claimed to be fightng for freedom yet they were killing innocent missionaries.

  • @extremeeXrement1

Those "missionaries" were very much spies, BUT of course at the top level. The low ranking

missionaries actually thought they were doing god work.

  • you do know they werent christians because the couldnt correctly translate the bible from chinese when the missionaries came over right? they were basically a made up religion that had the grasp on jesus and a monotheistic god, but other than that, not christian, and they wanted reforms that went against alot of christian practices. JSYN

  • Poor Christian martyrs! At least the missionaries won some to Christ. Heaven rejoices at one soul that comes to glory!

  • They are heroes !

  • @EdT586 you think so?
