Crockett's Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling was one of the promotions that made up the NWA. WCW was a seperate promotion that was created by Ted Turner. Their wasa court case where the judge ruled the NWA and WCW were different promotions and the NWA continued to exist on a much smaller scale after WCW was created. And I still hate Vince Mcmahon Jr.
True but the NWA stories were simpler and more realistic. When EB took it over he changed it completely, made those stupid revolving rings at the MGM studios, totally changed the essence and vibe of the company. If you haven't seen it already, try and find a copy of the monday night wars. You'll see what I mean, you'll enjoy it also.
no i havent seen ill try to get it. but during the days of the nwa they never "acted" and the business still kept the "secret" of it being fake. but tell me this would you rather wcw or wwe?
WWF, old school........or at least an updated version less alligned to Hollywood. It's barely about wrestling anymore. It's not just about telling stories on camera and back stage, it's about doing it in the ring. the build up only hightens the anticipation, well in the old days. I don't believe the scripts, doesn't convince me it's legit. I think WWE misses the competition badly.
yeah i hear you but to me its wrestling why is the in ring action second to talking its just not the same. i mean we always knew it was fake we just like it better to act like it was REAL lol
Now i have to say thats one crazy statement you have made...cuz anybody who knows anything about the sport of pro wrestling will tell you that wcw and the nwa were worlds apart buddy!
nah i dont think so, nwa/wcw were in many many ways the same. the look changed and so the feeling changed. but the same stars and most bookers they just tweeked it i think
yes my friend it was..in fact there was a point when the nwa quickly withdrew itself from the wcw organization as a whole...wcw was a very lack luster organization that was founded on the heels of the nwa that same tradition tried to carry over but wcw was not built for that...which is why it went down the drain...wcw=crap compared to nwa anything!
no wcw was apart of the nwa. wcw used to be georgia championship wrestling. and also world championship wrestling used to be the name of the saturday night wrestling on tbs. nwa was an orginization of different promotions, and the wcw brand was its largest one and was giving the belt. check into it
well actually my friend thats also false..see wcw was formerly known as NWA mid Atlantic championship wrestling it began as a regional company aligned with the nwa(as was the standard back then with a lot of the territories)by then it was under jim Crockett promotions, then it became nwa world championship wrestling after that they split from the NWA then it became universal wrestling ,then the wcw that we came to know...trust me i know what i talk of buddy perhaps you should dig a bit deeper!
SORRY YOU WERE RIGHT !!!!!! it was mid atlantic wrestling that was the original wcw name kind of! to much to clear up! but i was wrong about the gcw part!
And while i will respectfully disagree with you, i mean no harm by what i say..i just happen to believe that wcw was a crap organization,I'm all for the NWA and all of the glory days of what that organization(WCW) was before it got ruined but WCW was a pile of crap compared to other organizations out there!...search for interviews on here and here what most of the talent had to say about that place most who worked there were glad to see it shut down, including flair who carried that place!
Nobody in wrestling can compare to this, like the DVD said, what you saw was the lifestyle these guys really had. It was no gimmick, thats what made it successful.
I remember that day it was cold as hell. very windy day. this was filmed at RDU in Raleigh. if I am not mistaken this was celebrating Ric's 10 yrs after wining his first major title(in Raleigh.) I use to help old KLONDIKE BILL(RIP) set up the ring in the NC areas. promoters were the Murnicks.sp)
I am pretty sure this is when the party was taking place at the arena, Sting wrecked the party and left JJ layin in the middle of the ring. Ah, the good ole days indeed...
