oh its pretty simple - just go to market, then slide open your keyboard, then push the search key (its under letter X right next to alt), then type in "chompsms" in the search bar, and it should be the only thing to come up. then install.

no it doesn't, of course, if it's unlocked you can use the G1 on AT&T, but the 3G won't work, you'll only be able to access EDGE. now the G2 (i believe it's known as the magic, basically the G1 minus the qwerty keyboard) could very well come out on AT&T, it remains to be seen if it'll go single network or branch. at least i haven't heard anything yet.

AT&T has a new phone called the HTC Fuze, which is close to the G1 as far as hardware goes, but it pales in comparison when it comes to software and OS. No Android= little potential.

Cupcake is the next upgrade for the Android OS. There are some less bugs, more smoothness and the virtual keyboard.

Of course, you get to keep the open source kernel and other hot Linuxy features. You're just getting some iPhony ones in addition. :)

This is not an app it's a Cupcake update that is set to be release late January. Evreyone who own a G1 with T-mobile will receive it OTA (over the air) which mean, by Wifi, 3G, and for the less unfortunate...... EDGE ( in other word 2G).

The cupcake update is not out yet. Reports say it should be available in late Jan 09. It will be an OTA update. So basically you will get it when they are good and ready to give it to you.

Meh, the soft keyboard doesn't appear much different from that of the browser (available on the market), Steel.

Although, it will be nice to use the keyboard for short text messages.

The soft keyboard will be a welcome addition. And while Steel is nice it still lacks the one thing that keeps me from using it as a default Android browser... multi-window support (or Tabs which could also work).

Hopefully Bluetooth stereo is also a given along with video record. Middle of Jan. would also be interesting to see if other apps will fill in the void of other things lacking such as documents (doc & PDF) & better media support. Can't wait to see how much things progress by March! :D
