It takes a long time for something that big to grow inside of something from the size of a pea to the size of, well, a baby elephant. Humans take 9 months, dogs take 3 months or so, and cats are similar. It all varies depending on the size of the creature being born.

What the fuck is this. Watch any natural births of elephants - they do just fine. Here the baby is born and quickly seperated from the mother and has four humans standing around making it walk? NATURE KNOWS WHAT IT'S DOING.

@Brokensoulc That's true, but this baby was born in a zoo, and as most know, nature can be cruel even in the best situations (like a safe, secure zoo). The zoo keepers just want to ensure that the baby has no current problems, and that it's healthy. You're right that separating the baby from it's mother is not the best thing to do, but everything they're doing is for the welfare of the new born.

Those humans are highly educated and have 2 years invested in this baby. They are just trying to make sure the baby survives, If you notice baby is back with mama to suckle quite quickly.
