Does anyone else get the sneaking suspicion that a core part of Pinkie's character is that she's aware she's in a cartoon? A lot of her behavior starts to make a weird kind of sense if you figure that she's in on the big secret that all the other ponies are blissfully unaware of: None of it is real.
@splodeyful Perhaps. She sometimes breaks the 4th wall. And somehow she's able to keep up with Rainbow Dash despite Dash being the fastest character in the show.
In the scene in "Owl's Well That Ends Well" where all the ponies are fawning over Spike after he prepared an awesome picnic, Pinkie Pie pats him on the head saying quote:
"Liiiitle Spikey-wikey! Who knew that big, ferocious dragon started off so cuuutsie-wootsie?"
She's talking about Spike as if she's known him as an adult dragon in the far future. That would make Pinkie either a time traveler, or a being existing simultaneously outside of, as well as within, our linear reality.
It's possible that in Pinkie's account of her past, when she ends her story with a nonsensical "and that's how Equestria was made", we're allowed a small glipse into her understanding and also a hint that she was present and witnessed the world's creation. This is mind-blowing stuff, as it potentially casts Pinkie Pie as the most powerful being in all of Equestria.
Then again, it opens up another theory that the world of pony exists totally in the mind of one Pinkamina Diane Pie.
@lethlswrm Really, if you think about it, none of Pinkie's past makes much sense. She's from a family that never smiles, yet Grammy Pie taught her to Giggle at the Ghosties. She's the head Ice scorer for winter round up, because s skating ever since she was a little twinky pinkie, yet she grew up on a rock farm. I would have to agree. Equestria is in fact in the imagination of a lonely pony on a rock farm, living in the oppression of everyday life, and dreaming that she had friends.
