Cronkite, about 2 mi due west of the North Tower of the Golden Gate Bridge in Marin County, and about 8 mi southeast of Stinson Beach along the Marin headlands coast. Unfortunately, that site no longer exists for hang gliding training, nor does the school I trained with (Chandelle, of Pacifica). If you're interested in learning to hang glide, there's really only one school left in the SF Bay Area - Mission Soaring in Milpitas. Tell Pat Denevan I sent ya!

Please for we who re-watch occasionally for our Marin fixes....a redo w/ the wonderful soundtrack & simply those words wh/ say it all, "The golden hills of Marin roll below." and "Just another day in paradise." Some people can do it, some can't - it depends on your natural ability. Once you get the knack, it's not hard at all; kind of like the old cliche about learning to ride a bicycle. Try it! There's nothing quite like it. You really do feel like a bird (or Superman!)

I used a VIO POV.1 recording system, which includes a digital recorder that can achieve up to 43 minutes of DVD quality recordings on a 2GB SD memory card, and runs for 5-10 hours on 4 AA batteries (depending battery type [NiMH, alklaine, Li-ion]). It includes a "bullet" or "lipstick" camera which connects to the recorder by cable. To do the editing, I used Adobe Elements, enhanced with the free software pkg, ffdshow.
