I want to major in engineering or computer science. Is embry riddle a good school for this because a lot of people are saying that it's bad for people who want to be a pilot but how about engineering?
Dear god ~_~ I've been waiting for my graduation to come this June, and always wanted to be a pilot in the USAF, now I am waiting to go back to school again!!
im in 10th grade and its my dream to become a pilot. i want to go to riddle so bad and im going to tour the college november 24th! i hope i get accepted in 2 years!!!
Im just asking why all of you guys say the ERAU is bad. I want to know. All you guys say that it takes away your money and is not what you expect, but tell me why. Because I'm thinking about going there and I wana know why it's so bad that all you guys say all that
they talk about that because daytona beach is boring. erau is a good school. it is very very boring environment because of its location and THAT IS ALL. After a year, it becomes hell here because you are used to everything. Then your challenge comes to see if you can be disciplined enough to reach your goal.
To be a pilot, a lot of students do choose to fly off-campus because yeah..... it is just cheaper. If you make good grades at ERAU, ERAU will hire you to be a flight instructor for ERAU and they pay you descend, while you build your hours and make cash too.
@Wiifanaticnumberone If you are interested in the pilot route; I would say you might want to choose another path. The answers to this statement WILL NOT be found at the school. Talk to the pilots currently flying at the airlines. If you still wish to fly, then go to a flight school elsewhere and get a degree outside of flying in case your career ends, for whatever reason out of the multitude of ways, such as medicals, airline bankruptcies, etc. Many airline pilots wish they never chose this.
Riddle is the worst p.o.s school ever. Do not go there. If you want to be a pilot that's foolish enough but do not go to riddle. Go to a state school and major in something else you are interested in and fly at the cheapest place you can. I cannot stress this enough DO NOT GO TO RIDDLE TO BE A PILOT!!! I wish someone had talked me out of it!
hmm I think after I finished my classes on our Community College here in California.I would LOVE to tranfer there!!Its near the Spce Shuttle/rocket launches which I LOVE!!!.....I am thinking of going to U.C. Berkeley,Cal Tech and Embry-Riddle..:)
Not too long ago i decided i wanted to major in Aerospace Engineering and i've been having a hell of of a time trying to find a university that offers the program, and by the looks of Embry-Riddle, i think i found my school lol
amm actually i had a question.... if am studyin aerospace engineering frm a university in UK.... can i do my transfer to the final year in this university??!
If anyone wants a gauranteed career from this school, you might want to look into AFROTC. AFROTC pays for everything(if you won a scholarship), but you must commit 4 or more years of service to the AirForce. Participation in the AirForce will make you look much more attractive to companies like Boeing and Lockheed Martin (the latter especially.) Send me a message if you want info on this.
Dude why do you think people getting into UCLA, Berkley, Harvard have 4.7 gpas. It is very possible to get more than 4.0 through AP classes and honors classes, well at least here in socal where i live it is. Don't be so quick to jump on a comment, do some research first.
When I saw this video my hair rose at an end and I became very excited to go there...... until I saw the videos of life at ERAU in daytona and prescott and my excitement lowered to zero.
I'm sorry to tell you this, but ever since my comment made earlier, i went to visit the university. Indeed, it seemed to be like total paradise for pilots and anyone who is interested in studying aviation.
However, I then went to speak to some people on internet and found out ever since they graduated, they regreted having gone there since their hiring promised by ERAU was total BS. And they are still in debt.
If I were you, I would study another major and learn through a normal license
As an 06 graduate I can tell you that it all comes down to on how the market for hiring is behaving. I wanted to fly in the US but at the end I ended up going abroad and finding a nice job as an Embraer 190 First Officer. So it all depends on luck and most important, the market.
Best school ever, currently going to a community college in California, and finishing my PPL there at that college. I will then transfer to the Prescott,AZ since it's closer to Cali, and will continue my education, get all my licenses, and get bachelors degree in Aeronautical Science. They have the best Aviation/flight training program there, that's their number 1 major, They also have contracts with many Airlines to get hire right after you get your B.S. in AS
My friend Jeff went to USAFA and he hated it. He came here to Riddle and is doing Army ROTC now. He says it was one of the best decisions he'd ever made.
I always dreamed to become a pilot (Airline if possible). I heard Embry-riddle offers flight courses as well as teaching a Major, which seems very interesting. However, I also heard that there is another flight school called "flight safety Academy" which is also very good to learn how to fly. I was wondering if anyone could tell me which would be best?
Erau is one of the best for aerospace engineering(not aeronautical). Make sure it is what you want to do as it is very expesive. With flight around 44000 a year (not 51000). without around 34000. It doesnt make a difference if your're out of state because it is private. Any questions shoot me a message. ( I'm a 2nd year aerospace student)
Hah ya, Embry-Riddle is #1 in the nation for their aviation, primarily for Aeronautical Engineering though, but their flight team is good. It does cost a shit load, im out of state and if i go there in 2 years... itll cost me around $51,000 because im doing flight training and out-of-state. (without schalorships)
You dont have to wait for them to catch up, its all on your own and you get credits for that license... (it cost like $11,000 to get your private license there...)
yes they do! Its called Flight Exploration (Expo for short) u should definitely check it out. I went to the prescott, AZ campus and the counselors are very nice, its just experiencing what its like to go there. You also get 4 hours of flight time in a cessna 172sp, and you get to go in their cessna 172 simulators. It was really great

Bring cash. I would do my flight training outside and do the academics over there.
I graduated a while back and the flight training costs were okay. Now they are through the roof.
