I saw the Six wives of Henry the Vlll at Hampton Court last night. Rick Wakeman and his entourage were asolutely brilliant. It was worth waiting 36 years for this project to come to fruition -THANKYOU. NMS
I agree... Rick is much, much more superior than Emerson. I think that mr. Wakeman feels the music way better than Keith... that's makes the difference
He really is the best.... I did listen to Emerson, but he seems to be a nutcase when he use to play. Rick makes it looks so easy lol Inside he's probably like this is boring, It
s piss easy!!! Does anyone know any names of his solo songs? I have quite a few, but am after more. Rick Wakeman is the best!
Wakeman is brilliant, but he makes it look easy because he's concentrating so intensely. Emerson was so good that he could do what he wanted when he played. In his time Emerson could have probably played any piano piece in the world. Look up one of his improvisations, the man is a genius.
This is like an "unplugged" version of the song and highlights Wakeman's genius on the keyboards. It's a pleasant surprise; thanks for posting it. However, I'll take the full Mellotron version any day.
Nice, but the original Mellotron version on Close to the Edge has, er, the edge! The combination of Rick's piano, string and brass sounds on the Tron and Steve Howe's pedal steel guitar is one of the most amazing moments in rock music bar NONE! "Reasons to - ca-ALLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!"
I Agree Wholeheartedly!!! For me, that particular piece that you are referring to, from And You And I, is my all-time favorite YES moment...if not my all-time favorite moment in the vast realm of recorded music.
Absolutely beautiful. Words can't describe.

Wakemann è come il buon vino. Migliora invecchiando.

This is beautiful. However, I do miss the sheer majesty and spectacle of the original version with organ.
