  • Siempre es gratamente reconfortante escuchar a los verdaderos clasicos

  • COOL TRACK... Smithereens Rock!!!!

  • i saw them at embarcadaro square in sf in '88...skipped school for the free concert. it was so cool my first. every song on this album is great!

  • Has anyone ever gotten a blowjob to this song, so they could say that they were Blown to Smithereens?

  • @miyamotofan Excellent Idea.

  • @miyamotofan Dude that was funny as hell. I'm gonna remember that for when my lady gives me a blowy. "Thanks babe, you just blew me to Smithereens!" LMAO!

  • @mroesema Oh good god...Really?

  • @miyamotofan Groan.

  • @miyamotofan how many guys did you blow to this

  • @allhailrussell Six so far.

  • Great Riff!

  • Know this song because they played on SNL in 1990. Seems like not that long ago...

  • @funkmike I hear you on that, my friend! The older you get, the faster time flies. But, that was an excellent performance! Smithereens FOREVER!

  • Good tunes for sure.

  • "ROCK & ROLL"

  • can't stop hitting replay!!! <3

  • great song

  • great song

  • These assholes totally ripped off Ozzy. "Fool Like You" off his brilliant Ultimate Sin.

  • @voltronsky I have to respectfully disagree..I saw your comment and loaded "Fool Like You" by Ozzy and saw very little similarities between these two songs. !!

  • @nickrambus ahaha I made you listen to Ozzy!

  • @voltronsky There is a BIG difference between Ozzy's song and this one. First the music is different and second the lyrics are not the same. Both songs are art and deserve their own place in music history. The Ultimate sin is my all time fave Ozzy album.

  • @reptilia5 The Ultimate Sin is a great, classic album, I love it to death myself. However, I think Diary of a Madman is his best work as a solo artist. Jake E. Lee is awesome but Randy was something else.

  • @voltronsky uncle ozzy

  • @apokryphos117g you're right about Pat being a great guy. I produced an indie feature a few years ago in which he had a small part. I've been back stage at any number of the band's shows (they're all great guys) and they're still together after all these years, crunching out "power pop" at its finest.

  • Great song!

  • i love this magical song

  • "Even the pop bands of the 90's were gr8,etc.,,,," Very true, today's "bands" aren't even bands...It's a bunch of over hyped synthetic garbage, that is purposely "droned" until you become a zombie consumer...

  • Such a simple song, but yet very popular, I heard this song on the radio and was taken by this song! Y can't we have music like this these days?? I miss them......

  • Rock PERFECTION! Melodic tunes, powerful bass lines, interesting chord changes, creative harmonies, uncomplicated but meaningful, CLEAN lyrics (holy C***! No WAY!!) driving beats, gorgeous lead vocals (oh Pat, you were SO yummy lol)....what more can you ask for from a rock band? Seriously, The Smithereens are amazing! ^_^

  • They have great power chords in this song!!

  • The first time I heard this song was on a TV show called ADVENTURES WITH THE POORMAN. This was a program hosted by KROQ's the poorman in LA during the 80s. He would interview new bands and find cheap resturaunts to eat at. These days he hosts THE POORMANS BIKINI BEACH. Guess who he interviews these days?

  • They make me hot... hehe

  • this & blood & roses just f ing epic

  • i LOVE THIS SONG SO MUCH ,I DEDICATED IT TO MY BRAND NEW GIRLFRIEND LINDA.

  • 7 people were blown to Smithereens

  • @mocha4paws Lmao, no, 7 people just blow.

  • I am blessed to have seen them performed live at N.I.U., my senior year of college! Great times, great song!

  • great song

  • STILL KING TONE!

  • Who says that all love/relationship songs have to sound "soft and sweet?" This is bustin' out for Rosie! King tone!

  • The Plimsouls and Mason Rufner -- great for the mid/late 1980s

  • Goo goo dolls are ALT Rock 2....

  • ALT ROCK LMAO!!

  • "They" said that about ALOT of bands....

  • Jon Bon Jovi is cool. But, these guys are BRUISIN"! All are great musicians from New Jersey.

  • @mickeymousebike Add Fountains of Wayne to your Jersey list! Just sayin'...from Maine and the band Alter Igor that covers these guys.

  • @finnfan17 A million thanks! Happy New Year 2012 to ya!

  • Just like the finest foods, they are simple but not easy. You can taste the dignity and wholeness.

  • The Smithereens sound just pounds your very essence. Hendrix described his music as a full body experience hitting all spectrums of sound. This is just bad ass kick ass rock. If you don't move to it you have no soul!!!!!!!!!!

  • AWESOME !!

  • Quite possibly one of the best hooks in rock ever. This song will bore a hole into your head and stay there. Awesome, awesome song.

  • @Jmitchpen1013 agreed except id delete the 'quite possibly'

  • sounds like kiss !! the voice reminds me that of paul stanley !!

    great song !!

  • @maccantuono "Kiss,?" "Paul Stanley?" What are you, 21 years old. OMG these kids have no sense, accumen or class. Sit down Son and just listen.

  • @MrLimborace

I am 27 years old and i'm a musician. I have a great musical culture and i know the difference between kiss and smitheerens... but this song reminds me a kiss song of 1992. the sound of voice reminds'me that of paul stanley...sit down son, enter in my channell and listen my music...shut up

  • @maccantuono Lol "27?" You haven't a clue kid, about life, music or anything else....suck chode.

  • @MrLimborace

bla bla bla you are a very impolite...fuck you and don't break my ball

  • @maccantuono Sit, jr. Sit...thats a good little queerbait!

  • @MrLimborace

shut up. you are a musician ?? you are a poet ?? you are an artist?? NO you are just an asshole...

  • @maccantuono Yes kid, I am a poet, and artist and a musician, published, educated and a Teacher. I could also describe the things I taught your Mother but that would just be mean.

  • @MrLimborace

ahahah you are a musician, a poet and artist !!! ok ok !! poor old man !!

shuuuuuuut uuuuup you are very sad.... adios amigo !!

  • @maccantuono and still you come back, Jr. You must really like getting it up your ass...like Mother, like Son.

  • @MrLimborace

ahahah my mother is happy because she has a genius son like me.

Your Mother? poor woman with a idiot and impolite son like you...

I AM AN ARTIST... YOU ARE ONLY AN IDIOT

    END OF THE STORY...

patetic man...your mother ?? poor woman with a son like you....

you are a very very impolite.

  • @maccantuono No kid, your Mother is happy because I allowed her to practice playing my skin flute. The only art you make is the fecal smears on your keyboard. Now hush child.

  • @MrLimborace

youuuuu again ?? oh my god. patetic man !! now shut your mouth and don't bother me anymore...(I PLAY KEYBOARD, GUITAR, DRUMS, BASS, VIOLIN, SAX AND MANY MANY MORE INSTRUMENTS. IDIOT ..AND YOU?? AHAHA YOU PLAY ONLY YOUR COCK ...forget me !! the case is closed. adios IDIOT IMPOLITE ASSHOLE

  • @maccantuono Amd still the little greaseball WOP f ag boy spews his missing Daddy's jism from between his salami lips. Speaking of salami lips, I let your Mother play my Saxaphone kid...she puckers like a champ.

  • @MrLimborace

ahaha very funny idiot !! You have 40 years.. but you're not ashamed to speak in this way? pathetic and stupid... ok continues to write what you want .. blah blah blah blah

    ADIOS

  • @maccantuono I am ashamed for your Mother because the things I did to her wee obscene, OBSCENE I telll you!!!!

  • @MrLimborace

....reminds me in particular the kiss song "Take It Off" but just little bit on the verse and for the sound in general and also for the style of guitar riff and drums.

(I'm Italian and I don't speak English very well...if I were english I would explain it better ...)

  • @MrLimborace

....maybe kiss they were inspired by the smitheerens..this was written in 1989, while that of the kiss it was written in 1992...anyway are 2 great song...

  • I have not heard this song in years!!! I forgot all about this song!!! I also forgot how great this song is!!!!

  • @MrGreycharles, Interesting point. These guys came along at what was arguably the high point of big label power and still kind of did their own thing in terms of style and subject matter (e.g the Gotti song). Thus the alternative label. But your description is perfect. I think it was a New York Times reviewer (maybe Kaleffah Saneh?) who came up with the perfect Smithereens description--they play your favorite songs that you've never heard before.

  • I find it hilarious that the Smithereens were called "alternative". What they were, and are, is great, straight ahead rock. I'll take them over the freaking pixies or belly or any of that style any day of the year.

  • @MrGreycharles Amen, brother...preach the truth!!!

  • I was already 30 and done with pop music by this time, and a teenage coworker turned me onto the Smithereens. Great music, even though I was an "old guy" lol

  • This was my first favorite song. It was 1990 and I was 5 lol.

  • Love this song :)

  • I saw these guys at the palace in melbourne in 93. Walked in and watched them during a sound check after buying tickets. They were awesome , love you guys thanks for being part of my life :)

  • I am EMBARASSED to admit that I had not heard much of the Smithereens back in the day. I was a hair metal loser. I am however, proudly, making up for lost time. The Smithereens are the real deal - hardcore, genuine rock and roll at its finest. Thanks for this posting and to all those who have posted more songs by the genuises! Cheers...

  • @moron1966 WELCOME BACK!!

  • @moron1966 Hey man...hair metal was cool...you're not a loser...I dug it...

  • @moron1966 your were not a loser. Just a rebel. Good music is an acquired taste. You were into Glam cause it was the IN THING.

  • @moron1966 HAHAHA!! I'm having the opposite revelation in middle age. I was an alternative music/new wave type who was always in some place that was playing music like this, and now I'm realizing that I denied myself a lot of really great "hair metal loser" music!!!

  • love It!!

  • Oh. where went the Smithereens of the world? There once were bands who took their ancestors and improved on them. Now it's...well, you know.

( BTW, I know guys who have played on the bill with Smithereens, and they're rumored to be mensches--little ego ; lots of fun,)

  • @jasinohio They are.I partied with them in Miami awhile ago.

  • This was made to be the theme song to "Say Anything..." but Cameron Crowe didn't use it because he felt it outlined the whole plot and gave it all away.

  • How cool is this track

  • They were hurt by the rise of grunge, yet while Kurt was writing NEVERMIND he said he was influenced by The Smithereens.I loved this song&this band.I met them in Miami & Pat was really nice(&a gr8 tipper!).I don't know if they any influences on other grunge bands of which were always few in # but it was bands like this that took college alt rock from being played in the middle of the night2 the attention of people.Even the pop bands of the 90's were gr8 compared2 today's bands.

  • @apokryphos117g There is one good band that I think of.... Grace Potter and the Nocturnals...No?

  • awesome!!

  • I need to start blasting this song at full volume every day of my life!

  • this was supposed to be the theme song to say anything

  • This did not usher in Grunge...if anything grunge killed good hook driven melody pop like this. I do agree that we need more bands like the Smitereens again.

  • What socks have you been smelling? Cause this song is great!

  • Song socks so much!!

  • 2 things...im not a loser and most new music sucks...smithereens arent grunge...theyre considered alternative...get it right...

  • Frankie!

  • @smilenann, I know I am an anal douchebag!

How's that for a mixed metaphor?

    Cheers!

    FrankC32

  • Cheers! To you! Ha Ha Ha

  • this should have been an early 70's band.good music!

  • Lets get real deep in the 80's and 90's music! This is going to be fun!!!!

  • awhpriol1 Everyone saying they don't make good music anymore are losers. If anybody made music like this now, it would be derivative - just appreciate the music that's been made, and if you want better new music - make it. But understand that the rock genre, as a whole, has simply lost its power, but there is a ton of different types of music to explore. If you don't like the new music - don't listen to it - and remember, there was PLENTY of crap on the radio in the eighties/early nineties.

  • blows my mind every time

  • Bloody awesome right mate ?

  • Comment removed

  • The smithereens were Kick Ass! when No one else was rockin on Alt Radio!

  • Great song ... imaginationless video

  • You can definitely hear the Link Wray influence!

  • They came out 10 years too late. Music was changing when they started. I thought they would be the next AC/DC, then the shit of 90s came out. Sad.

  • @RRNYC1998

you lost me at "the shit of 90s"

  • A band I was in used to cover this. This was one of my favorites to cover. Awesome tune.

  • I like it !!

  • wow, relapse flashback and I've never really dabbled...

  • Tonight @ Centenary College

  • The Smithereens played one of the three best concerts I have yet seen.

  • the smithereens will be appearing FOR FREE! this summer at 'maplewoodstock' (in maplewood, nj)!!

    google 'maplewoodstock' for more info!!!

  • Paul Ralston 'Life' in words

    facebook/pages

    Great Song!

  • The Smithereens: Kings of the POWER CHORD! Their rhythm section is also happening! Just a fabulous band, what a wall of sound!

  • thanks for clarifying

  • Folks, please raise a glass to all the great alternative, indie and college rock of the 80s and 90s!! I miss those days so damn much!!

  • I think they are from Boston,MASS...my hometown, greatest sports town in America! Just like Areosmith,Godsmack..to name a few

  • @ramonrazorramon

Sorry, they're Jersey boys, not from Boston.

  • Me too!!!

  • I LOVE this song!

  • Music was just starting to get good again when this came out. Bands like the Smithereens and Replacements helped usher in Grunge. We sorely need bands like the Smithereens to emerge to help start a new wave of good music in our present times.

  • @whpriol1 You said it. We are (for waaaaaaay too long now) in a time of nothing but completely disposable, cookie cutter garbage that is instantly forgotten. It's all about being auto-tuned,instrument-less and produced by idiots who could care less about real music. Of course,to these producer jerk-off's,the only real interest is in a quick ton of cash from the never ending line of morons who it appeals to. But no worries, the masses will eat it up,just like they always have and always will.

  • @liveup5 YES!! You said this in a way that stole the words out of my mouth. I am sick as hell of this artificial, auto-tuned, fast food style production of albums. People don't know music like this because they are being force fed this snooki, kesha, lady gaga, hip hop crap that has no musical feel to it except the vocal work. If you take that out you have is a souped-up metronome.

  • @liveup5 o k tard

  • @whpriol1 Never gonna happen. Music is dead

  • @MsMarc1234, WRONG!!!

You are dead. You suck dick.

Do us all a favor and cash in your chips. W e do not need faithless punks like you!

    Cheers!

    FrankC32

  • @frankc32 Mention one artist that plays music post 2000

  • @MsMarc1234, that is such a ignorant comment, I am almost hesitant to dignify it with a response.

Perhaps my comment to you was a bit strong, but if you do not acknowledge that good music has been made post 2000 then wow, you need to crawl out from under your rock. Ever heard of Ray LaMontagne (sp.?) Ever heard of Arcade Fire? Kings Of Leon? Duffy? I could go and on.

Sorry for my harsh comment, but music is most assuredly alive and well.

    Cheers!

    FrankC32

  • @frankc32 Yeah, I have heard all of those. Next to someone like Mozart, George Benson, Django Reinhardt, led Zeppelin, NWA, Charles Minus, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Jaco Pastorius(you get the picture?) these names just blends into the crowd. These artists arent making music - we have just be degenerated to a point were we cant hear the difference. There is a few guys, like Yoshiki Hayashi or The brand new heavies, but mostly its dead today.

  • @MsMarc1234, those are some heavy hitters, my friend, and I cannot argue that the bands I mentioned even come close to that kind of genius.

I just think it is sort of short-sighted to say that music "died in 2000".

You do have good taste in music, I will grant you that!

    Cheers!

    FrankC32

  • @MsMarc1234 Someone knows there history. Ne Nr Ne Nr!

  • @smilenann, learn how to spell, then we can talk.

    Cheers!

    FrankC32

  • @whpriol1 I agree with you, but I dont think it's going to happen

  • @whpriol1 But at least we have Justin Bieber now. NOT!!! (Did I just say "NOT!?") I'd rather suck on a .44 magnum than listen to Justin Bieber.

  • @whpriol1 "PORKPIE" ( the band ) could NOT AGREE MORE !!!!!! WTF HAPPENED & Wel try to fix it

  • @whpriol1 I'm trying my best. :)

  • Wow I haven't heard this since '89! They even played the video on MTV WAAAY before MTV started to suck ass!! Even though I listen to metal, this is true classic hits!

  • ANNIE, YOU ROCK

  • The Smithsonian's. Jk. =]

  • I haven't heard this song in YEARS!

  • is it a bird, the kinks, acdc, no...its the smithereens

  • awesome riffs

  • most under-rated band of all time!

  • so 6 retards dislike this song huh, sucks to be them.

  • @mmt2853 hate to be a "retard like you" LOL

  • @elizabeth81384 Based on your comment you are musically challenged.

  • AWESOME SONG!!! crank it up everytime i hear it

  • These guys are AWESOME!

  • Summer 1990...KROQ

  • One of the best songs ever! If you've ever seen backdraft at the beginning in the bar you can hear this song in the background

  • When I was about 12-13I tried to learn guitar by listening to tape and getting a chord book to see if I could mimic the sound. THESE guys were/are the definitive guitar sound imo. Huge music and bigger guitars, they just blew you outta the water...

  • new album ready to come out soon ..cant wait!

  • reminds me of billy squier's stuff kinda

  • my friend Jack eats sugar lumps

  • lol so far you're theonly one who has got the meaning of my name. I heard it could be died blue, or orange. And the ones I had on 3 different occasions had no color so you couldn't tell they were dosed. But, if you've had it on cubes, it must have been pure stuff because that's been virtually obsolete since 67

  • Comment removed

  • High school flash back

  • @orangesugarcube, CLASSIC!

I particularly enjoy an LSD-soaked sugar-cube, but that's just me!

    Cheers!

    FrankC32

  • Im 13 and this is the only kinda music i listen too and it came on the radio and ive murdered myy replay button tnight listening it!

  • @dadeXxReachxX12, that is a simply undeniable post!

"murdering" a replay button? that is so sweet and well-expressed, it takes a lot to reach me!

    I say "ROCK ON"!!!"

    Cheers!

    FrankC32

  • @dadeXxReachxX12, also, check out Social Distortion, that is another band you will enjoy.

    Cheers!

    FrankC32

  • @frankc32 will do thnx :)

  • @dadeXxReachxX12, suggested play-list "Social Distortion" (eponymous 1990), "Somewhere Between Heaven & Hell", (1992), "White Light, White Heat, White Trash" (1996).

    Enjoy, my friend!

    Cheers!

    FrankC32

  • @frankc32 I think the 13yr old girl would like, "She's a Knock Out" By the great "Social D"! as well. What do you think? Frankie.
