This song is incredible, probably the best on the album. He's got work on a song on one of Handsome Boy Modeling School's albums which is also stellar.
Made a classic album out of trip-hop.. a revolutionary! dj album out of hip hop!... and It has never ever ever been topped.. this is not an album this is a story.. when you press play you're turning pages you just can't se them!!. Deepest DJ album in history. Totally groundbreaking. This is 1 white guy that broke ground more than eminem ever did or probably will!. WHERE IT COUNTS, the music!!... CAN'T TELL YOU HOW MANY NIGHTS i GOT LOST TO THIS DREAMSCAPE!
@playaeyez17 I totally agree with you on the Eminem part shadow was the real originator, this album crushes eminems entire catalog imo. And all the samples brought together to from this masterpiece is so beautiful like shadow said that all the people he sampled were like a pile of broken dreams, I think shadow made those dreams come true by making this album by bringing these obscure artist music back to life.
@tacosaucemafia I don't think it's Eminem you want to be comparing him with really. Eminem is a lyricist and rapper and Shadow makes sound scapes out of samples. If you compare him to anyone close to Eminem it should be Dr. Dre who Shadow actually thanks on the inlay.
@nineTnineTfour ye me too i like just triplicate and this time ,any others cd's of shadow are just masterpiece ,im big fan of shadow from years he is my number 1
endtroducing to me is perfect music. when i really listen to how everything was sampled, and put together. it makes me question its existence. like how something so amazing can be, and how i hadn't found it till now...midnight in a perfect world on repea, a doobie, and lifes great..
(I&I believe : a line/quote from Outkast- in that year-....if not well then....happy hallows eve. go up to sleepy hollow, ny. Support the Union.DJ Shadow does )
I am 20 years old and feel fucking disgusted I had never come across this artist before. But I'll make it up, Endtroducing is now one of my all-time favorite records.
Better late than never man. Im so happy my sister had the right taste in music to buy entroducing when it came out when I was only 12 years old and introduce DJ Shadow to me... Now I'm 25 and it still gives me chills man. The type of music you will never tire of.
@nineTnineTfour Man, if DJ Shadow is ALL you listen to, then you are missing out on A LOT of other great and likewise inspiring music. I mean Shadow is awesome, but there's other great shit out there.
i Didnt know about that album with the Cape kid, I saw a pic of the cover once. I only knew of Entroducing, Pre emptive strike and private press, what is this newer one? its no good? thats sad :(
i Didnt know about that album with the Cape kid, I saw a pic of the cover once. I only new of Entroducing, Pre emptive strike and private press, what is this newer one? its no good? thats sad :(
That part makes my fucking soul cry. The music playing softly and melodic, coupled with the girl's upwards and playful inflection in her voice make me feel like I'm in the womb again, hearing peoples voices from the outside, completely safe from the danger of worries in the world.
Pretty sure another sample that's used is from KMFDM's "Help Us/Save Us/Take Us Away." The noise heard around 2:26 (and many other times) in "Mutual Slump" is from the 4:36 mark in "Help Us/Save Us/Take Us Away."
the songs called mutual slump as in a shared stated of depression but to me it really sounds more like accidental love. like "oh yeah me too we should go out some time" and this would play on your casual date as the two of you have a great time on the town just wondering around. but thats just my opinion.
His first album and by a country mile his very finest LP work. Will soon be buying this for the 3rd time. I just hope the last POS I last lent it to is still enjoying it.
@rob57uk yeah first albums are generally the best although there are some exceptions when artist grow and change rather than trying to replicate the first
I love this album. I have to buy it again since somebody broke into my car and stole my CD case and and the album was in it. But this song was my favorite on this CD. I think this was his best beat.
I've never owned the album itself, but I've never heard a bad song from this album, every single song is incredible, I'd be sad to lose this album if I had it. I'd chase the thief down and beat him to death
I got the vinyl for $12 a while ago. I'm pretty sure it's still around that price too. I think it is quite the bargin. "Possibly Maybe" by Björk (of course the mellow-hypnotic main melody)
"Love, Love, Love" by Pugh Rogefeldt (Drums)
The woman talking is Olivia newton fro the musical "Xanadu"
"More Than Seven Dwarfs in Penis-Land" by Roger Waters & Ron Geesin (the end chant that starts @ 3:41)
