Vista fucks it up. While running on Vista, Garry's Mod is unable to run in DirectX 9. To fix it, go into Steam and right-click Garry's Mod. Choose properties, and click "Set Launch Options...". Type in the box, minus the quotes, "-dxlevel 80 -w *** -h ***". Replace the first **** with the width of your screen, and the second with the height. The only reason for that part is because it defaults to 1024x768 if you use these command line parameters.

I have no Idea what I am doing I had to put it into the 2nd gmod folder to get anything

I downloaed a bunch of npcs and a termionator one and I moved abunch of folders to ones that had the same names

That helped but I only have the terminator one.

I also downloaded a huge weapons pack they either sit there in the game and are unusable or are invisible and unusable.

I need help. HELP!

windows 64 bit is ok i never used a windows 32 bit but windows 64 is ok you cant download somethings like winrar but its still pretty good its pretty fast and when u get 1 i think it comes with norton internet security but u have to pay for it it has a windows side bar that shows time or anything like that u can add more tools but some of the tools suck and my pc i bought it and it was 64 bit not 32 but is there a way to change it i dont think so but any1 know how to get winrar with 64 bit?

Ok, some things do have different install locations and I'm not entirely sure of the Addon u r describing but if it's a weapon what I can tell u is if u do get it installed it should show up when u hit q under the enteties tab (i think its enteties XD)

u dont need to copy... you can just take the folder and drag it into addons... so you dont have to take up hard drive space

Well, Half Life 2 runs perfect, and with high graphics too but Gmod seems to be quite demanding and I have to run it with lower specs (But I think thats just the way it is). The thing you have to watch out for (and I've seen this mainly on Vista - its much rarer on XP) is the "HL2.exe has stopped working" error. Unfortunately it is a bit common on Vista and has stopped my play on Gmod numerous times... :(

Ok, well, to install Gmod itsealf is pretty simple, open up Steam (assuming you already have it) and first make sure you have at least Half Life 2 or Counter Strike Source. Then go to the Store tab and type "garrys mod" into the search bar, purchase it and it will download and install itself. This tutorial is a guide on how to install addons or "mods" onto Garrys Mod 10, such as "Wire" or Prop packs etc.

Ok, that depends on whether you want the real Gmod (Gmod 10 which is $10 on Steam) or the old Gmod 9 which is free but really buggy. Basically, they both need HalfLife 2, but if for some reason you couldn't be arsed to spend $10 on Gmod and wanted Gmod 9 you would need CS:S AS WELL. Hope this helps.

Er, not sure, i think things like tools and maps (definately maps) go into a different folder after you click GarrysMod for the second time (ie, maps goes in "maps" instead of "addons"). You will have to just look around in the second Garrysmod for either "stools" or "tools." It should work in there. Hope this helps!
