If I had recorded using 16:9 the picture looks squashed as you can see from my mini clubman video which was an experiment, the reason the ticker isn't on is because the adverts had just finished! now stop squabbling....geez!

The reason 16:9 looks squashed is because 16:9 is broadcast 'squashed' and the Sky box stretches it to fit your TV screen (if you have everything set up correctly). If you want to upload 16:9 video to YouTube then you will need to either use a format that supports the 16:9 flag (even then YouTube may ignore it) or stretch the picture yourself using a video editor before uploading. I hope this helps. I look forward to seeing non-cropped videos with correct aspect ratio in the future. Good luck.

Right here we go. I was watching sky news as this happened, so pressed record with my sky+ box, then recorded on to my dvd recorder then from the dvd transfered it to my pc...my sky+ box picture settings were on 4:3L (letterbox mode). No special effects have been added or cropping etc.... this is how it was on the TV and there is absolutely no picture loss what so ever!

There is clearly picture loss to all sides of this video. I have proven that by pointing out other Sky News videos which have been uploaded properly. If Sky News appears like this on your TV then you have something set up incorrectly. Maybe we can all help? Am I right to assume you have a 4:3 TV? Let me know and I will see if I can work out what is wrong.

It is clearly cropped. Where is the ticker and why is the top of Paula Middlehurst's head out of shot? You can also tell by the promo that plays out at the start of the clip. That should have terms and conditions under the 'quote ref' bit, the blue circle shouldn't be cut off at the top either. To sum up then, there is no doubt in my mind that this video has been cropped. I rest my case.

Are you commenting on the correct video? The ticker isn't at the bottom of the screen on this video. It has been covered up by a black bar. There is no breaking news strap on this video, even if there were the ticker is designed to stay on the screen at all times anyway. The ticker would go underneath the clock but as you can see, the area below the clock has been cropped. I would know, I have actually watched Sky News before.

Never! First, you need to agree that this video has been cropped as described by me in numerous previous messages. Until you can publicly agree to that then I am afraid we are at a stalemate. Once you have backed down on this issue perhaps we can then combine our efforts to make johnty72 confront the truth that he also finds so hard to accept - this video has been cropped.

He actually got killed in an incident very similar to this.

I can understand why you think this is funny, but please show some respect as well.

Additionally, it seems that the gentleman who uploaded this video has taken a 4:3 centre cut out image and then cropped it to 16:9. Why? I don't know.

Sky News is broadcast in 16:9 widescreen. The fella that uploaded this video has cut the sides off (making it a 4:3 image) and then he has cut the top and bottom off of the 4:3 image by cropping it to 16:9 (adding black bars).

Look at the top of the picture, the presenters head is right at the top, that doesn't look professional.

Look at Sky News on TV, see how much space there is below and to the left of the logo? Now look at this video, there is hardly any space at all.
