Good tutorial for beginners. One thing I can never force myself to do is name layers. If you are working quickly while you have an idea it takes me out the flow to have to name everything.

I can understand superimposing something (like text) on a separate layer, but what if you wanted to change something on the original image. A new layer is transparent, so how do layers come into effect in this case?

@nicey991 you have to move that newly created photo to your photoshop document. :) drag the new picture from the new page going to your photoshop file..

Can you drag and drop a photo of someone into the layer?, and do you have to double click on layers to get someone in that layer? because I'm still having problems with this

@Lennon4ever1 meaning you want a different photo ontop of the existing background layer?

there are two ways to do that. Either 1; Right click your photo and "copy image", the go over in photoshop - select the layer you want in on an click "ctrl + V" this is the shortcut for paste.

@Lennon4ever1 or 2; open the photo as a different file in photoshop, minimise the windows so you see both photos at the same time. Then you double click the layer you want to move so the lock will go away and you will be able to move the background layer. Then simply drag the layer from one file and over in the other window. it should lay itself on a new layer automatically. Hope this helps, and sorry for butting in :)

Just a quick question. Adobe photoshop only lets me undo my faults once when i press ctrl+z or undo. How did you in the beginning remove the text and bubble?

@Liscome layers help so you don't have to delete it, so if you draw something you like you don't have to try and make it over again, they also help so you can trace something

Can layers be made of any image? I have a .gif that will not allow me to do so. I converted it to .png and it still will not allow me to make layers. Whenever I go to the 'make layer' button a circle with a line thru it appears over it.

Help! When I got to Windows => Layers that layers option is gray, like I can't click it. I've been looking all over the internet for help and it's wasted an hour with no help. it's like when you click windows you know all the options? the ones you can do are written in white and the ones you can't do for some unknown reason are gray? layers is gray for me. like images and tools is in white but everything from adjustment to panel bin is gray which includes layers. =(
