I was at the Big A in Anaheim for this show which was part of the Dylan/Dead tour, The Dead backed up Bob Dylan and Dylan played in the 3rd set , there was lots of Heads at this show about 70,000 in big L. A. it was great you could get, I took about 4-5 trips to the outfield where the stage was, it was packed lots of dancing, great show but there is no Dylan on the view/vault 2, I guess Dylan wouldn't sign something
Poor Candy! where u been, girl? I'm 54, saw them first time at Roosevelt Stadium in 1972 'n never stopped! Very uncool and upsetting when I found out (ugh) Mt. Girl is into Satanic Cults. Not Jerry, but he said he saw them come out of the woodwork like cockroaches.
@TheElissaS ...Garcia never said such a thing. Carolyn was his wife and he never ever said a word against her. Prove it. I was in Roosevelt Stadium that day.

Even though I am 54, I didn't listen to the Dead until about 2004. This is my second favorite song of theirs and I think I am in love with Phil. Only took me decades to listen to the lyrics. I love words. You rock Grateful Dead.
Tons of steel is one of my favorite song only because it has brent doing a fantastic job on main vocals and phil coming in at the perfect time doing the backup vocals. watching and listening to the crowd go nuts as phil joins brent in singing gives me a feeling that far surpasses anything else this world has to offer.
brent was definitely the best keyboardist the dead ever had, and its videos like

Thanks for sharing this video, i just loved Brents voice and soulfulness. This is one of my all time favorite dead tunes. Amazing video too. Who knew Phil was singing the backups on it!
I loved Brent, was so happy when he got on board,Loved his Voice, his playing his Look, his energy way more then Keith,I was at this show thanx For the memorey, R.IP, Brent
I was AT THIS Show thanks FOR posting this,,ALSO Bobby and Brent did get along AND I REALLY Loved When he came on Board HIS sINGING AND PLaying,,I dug him way more then when Keith was with the band,,R.I.P...BRENT
bugeyes455858 Great to enjoy some of Brent's contributions to the GD,,,love this song and it goes to show the talent we lost when we lost Brent. RIP Brent...thanks for the memories.
I know Brent "Midi-land" gets a lot of flack, but man, I sure loved his voice. Jerry's voice could occasionally be magical, and so could Bob's, but I really do think Brent had the best voice in the band. And maybe I'm just a pop guy instead of a blues guy, but I also think Brent's songwriting was totally underrated.
Fantastic song... I love that hard-driving country rock feel ... you can almost feel the train barrelling down the tracks.... Much love to Jerry and Brent for absolutely killing the living shit out of this tune.... I love the album version as well with the train horn in the beginning
ya in the dark is one of my favorite albums i have, but i'd have to say my number one favorite is trukin up to buffilo! if they had a album for Alpine Valley Music Theater1989 that would be a favorite but they dont
#1 Brent... wow- "in my opinion" he brought the most to the band of all the guys to sit at the boards.... GREAT singing voice, and he rocked the boards.
#2 yes lol @ Bob's madonna shirt.. WTF dude !! ??
#2 Damn Bob's short shorts.... if they were any shorter his sack would be hangin out one side....
#3 and most importantly- thanks a bunch to the people who continue to put up clips and videos of the boys in action so i can get a fix when i need it... God-damn i miss seeing these shows live
yeah 1987 was the last year they played this song and it couldnt be too far into the 90s anyways cause brent died in july 1990. great vid, thanks for the upload, i love this song.
Pigpen had the best voice in the band
