  • These lyrics are great, more than a silly dialogue. It's about men's and women's relationships and sex equality. The way he talks to her is intrusive, as a sexist way of chatting up but she faces all in refusing to answer. It's a feminist song in fact. Nothing to do with"lower-class" rudeness (!) but with men and women equality. The fact that it is sung by a woman is not insignificant - there are other songs based on this type of dialogue, such as "Bergerade" by feminist singer Anne Sylvestre.

  • Awesome, I remember listening to this as ayoung kid. my grandmothers ultimate favorite.

I never thought I would ever hear this again.

  • The lyrics are not very good. They are full of indiscreet, rude or mundane questions and comments. Lower-class, really! Like, who cares what she's boiling, not to speak of making fun of his face and the totally inappropriate questions about petticoats and pants.
