I was on the U.S.S. Cook back when she was commissioned ,built by Avondale also,went around South America,and Home port Long Beach,ca.as soon as We arrived it went through a retro fit and new items were installed!.....brand new ship!....why not do it in Avondale?.....Ship was eventually sold to Taiwan Navy....or Phillipines? it was`nt even that old......Just like Long Beach Naval Station.....gone except the memories.....Even El Toro Marine Base is gone!.....WTF.
This is what happens when you go from the world's best blue-water and green-water navy to the world's best politically correct navy. Imagine over 2600+ "visible" problems on a ship---at least the union ship builders were "liberal" with creating so many problems.
