if winnipeg ever gets an nhl team back i cant see the name being anything but the jets, it just wont fit. oh the days when winnipeg had a winning sports team, many people of winnipeg wernt even born the last time a sports team won lol. closest was the blue bombers in 2007 and manitoba moose gave it a fantstic shot last year

What was the Avco Cup in the frist place.

It was the championship trophy of the World Hockey Association (WHA) which existed from 1972-79. Four WHA teams would come to the NHL, Quebec (Now the Avalanche), New England (Now the Hurricanes), Winnipeg (now the Coyotes), and the Edmonton Oilers. The AVCO World Cup was retired after the WHA closed shop and it now rests at the hockey hall of fame in Toronto

@hockeyboy1231 Correction: This last Avco Cup you see won here by the Jets in 1979 is still in Winnipeg. Yes, Toronto does have another Avco Cup at the Hall of Fame -- but its not this one - the final one.
