I wish someone would post the Gordon Lightfoot version of this song. He does it better than anyone I have ever heard. He is a very talented singer.

His original of this is superb. And best cover IMHO is Tony Rice's version from the recording Native American, and I think he did it with JD Crowe and New South as well. Superb tune.

The best version of this song I know of is the one by Greg Brown and Bill Morrissey on their album 'friend of mine'. Brilliant lyrics !
