There was a great book that came out 15 or 20 years ago called, "the Complete Beatles Session Notes," (or something like that), that annotated every Beatles recording session. It was written by one of the Abbey Road engineers who was in the hospital for an extended time, and to keep himself occupied, he reconstructed the Beatles recording history. Fascinating read, even for a non-technical person - let a co-worker borrow it, haven't seen it since...
@hibob418 the book you're talking about is called "The Complete Beatles Recording Sessions: The Official Story of the Abbey Road Years 1962-1970" by Mark Lewisohn. (It's available on Amazon). These clips are from "The Beatles Anthology" box set of VHS or DVDs and is a book too.
George Harrison, George Martin and Brian Epstein have wrote books about the Beatles recordings and their work with the other Beatles too.
I can imagine the wistful feelings listening to all those old tapes must have evoked in all of them. It's obvious at times.
