I used to own a rottie for several years and I could tell that dog wasn't angry, just playing. The cameraman might have had a dog treat or chew toy. Rotties can get very vocal when they play ("c'mon throw me the thing!").
For those of you who dont have a rottie this is a very playful song and dance 99% of rotties do when they are either playing or want to play both with other dogs and humans alike. Usually when your trying to work or watch a movie lol
@jaron1226 Dogs that are preparing to attack generally don't wag their tails while doing it. Rotties in particular have different levels of growling. This one is clearly playing. If a Rottweiler actually charges you with intent to do you harm...you'll know it.

Its where they wag their tails and hit something and their tails shatter. so It might not be best for all of them to keep them. and they can also be born without tails. @Jennifer10Lynn Actually the AKC standard hasn't been updated for over 20 years. The last revision was in 1990 BEFORE it was illegal to dock tails in most countries. Your puppies would not even be allowed to enter a show in some countries (ie Germany), because you had part of their spine removed. The UKC standard however was updated in 2008 and it does have the set of the undocked tail in the standard. My female was docked by her breeder, but her puppies will not be docked and I live in the US.

@ody1888 Yes. She grew much bigger than this. Your dobie will carry on growing until it's about 3 years old. Be patient. What you have to realise is that you won't notice the change in your dogs growth as much because you constantly see it.

Thanks Duane. She's 12 months old next month and just come into season. A lot of people still dock the tails over here but it doesn't bother me at all.
She's an absolute softy. I trained her to recognise hand signals as well as voice commands, which is why she's growling, because you can't see me giving the hand signals behind the camera lol.
It's about the only time she does growl, she's useless as a protection dog haha!

I know that Rottweilers now are not having their tails docked in the U.S. Good move but it would seem funny to have Lotty with a tail. So just because some people say it's the "breed standard" everyone else should blindly follow? Do you think it's in the animal's best interest to cut part of it's body off then? I don't think it is. Dogs have tails for a reason, who in their right mind doesn't question tail docking!

@SteveBlues87 what that poster wrote is BS anyway. if you look at rottweiler shows, most of them have their complete tails and in germany, the home of the rottie, rottweilers with docked tails are not even allowed to compete.
with that said, my rott has a docked tail and i love the stub!

@Jennifer10Lynn Actually the AKC standard hasn't been updated for over 20 years. The last revision was in 1990 BEFORE it was illegal to dock tails in most countries. Your puppies would not even be allowed to enter a show in some countries (ie Germany), because you had part of their spine removed. The UKC standard however was updated in 2008 and it does have the set of the undocked tail in the standard. My female was docked by her breeder, but her puppies will not be docked and I live in the US.

1) Cutting tails to dogs is not legal everywhere (in fact, nowadays it's legal only in under developed countries).
2) A breed doesn't change if you cut the dog's tail.
3) Europe is taking over America. American laws (and people) just feel so ancient. Even Bin Laden wouldn't cut a dog's tail.

@Jennifer10Lynn What the hell is wrong with a rottie having its full tail????? it may be a "breed standard" but it's defacing a rottie's true beauty. The only reason that tails were docked in the first place was to avoid getting it ripped off in fights. As far as many people are concerned, tail docking and ear cropping is cruel and useless. Dogs are not meant to be showpieces, they are meant to be friends and loving members of a family. I think that long tail of hers is beautiful.

u know what...ur rott has its tail, whike she is beautiful why didn't she have her tail docked when she was a few days old? Im sorry my rotts never have tails and the pups dont get to keep theirs either. Im sorry no offense but a tail on a rott is not the breed standard. U should not promote violence with this breed of dog. I have been a reputible breeder of rotties for 10 years. I hope ur dog gets the proper love and training she deserves.

@ody1888 Yes. She grew much bigger than this. Your dobie will carry on growing until it's about 3 years old. Be patient. What you have to realise is that you won't notice the change in your dogs growth as much because you constantly see it.

If socialized and raised with lots of experiences and training it is a great dog. You know that just by watching a few videos on here. This dog is playing. If this was a Lab doing this exact same thing, you wouldnt say shit. Rotts names were ruined by the ppl attracted to them. Thugs. If they liked labs, they would be ruined too.

Thanks Duane. She's 12 months old next month and just come into season. A lot of people still dock the tails over here but it doesn't bother me at all.
She's an absolute softy. I trained her to recognise hand signals as well as voice commands, which is why she's growling, because you can't see me giving the hand signals behind the camera lol.
It's about the only time she does growl, she's useless as a protection dog haha!

Steve, I showed your movie to my wife and I just noticed your dog has a tail! I know that Rottweilers now are not having their tails docked in the U.S. Good move but it would seem funny to have Lotty with a tail. I think, actually, that docking of tails is cruel and glad it seems to have stopped with the Rottweilers.

Steve, thanks for your comment on our Lotty in the swimming pool. Your sweet Rotty does, in fact, look like Lotty. Lotty turned 7 yesterday so we had a party with FrostyPaw ice cream dog treat that she enjoyed with her borther, Romy the Terrier. Rottweilers are the best!!
