I didn't tried Linux because isn't user friendly and hard to use it. I prefer Windows.

Beta wise, NO. Win7 have the speed advantage over Vista, but Win7 have more incompatibility issues, and no significant difference in game performance so the final release better have BIG changes.

i havent noticed any compatibility issues at all. im running programs that are from windows 98 and they work just fine. i am running x64 btw. vista has more compatibilyty issues than 7.

Windows 7 rocks dude. For real. It's FAST. REALLY FAST. But get the 64-bit version so you can use more than 3.3 GB of RAM. Only 64-bit supports 4GB and up.
