Trust me, john or phil will not be watchin your videos. Why? Because who gives a flyin fuck what you say!!!! Am I not the best? hahahaha... fuckin loser.
I'm 22. Recently I've lost my boyfriend (almost husband) by accident... by my accidental stupidity ))) And now I think of him every single minute, I suffer, and sometimes I begin to realize that it was that chance (the only in my life), and I've lost it... that f***ing chance... And I'm sure if I don't set it right before thirty, I'll be already late to start it from the very beginning...
What you haven't done by thirty you'll never do and what you've already done, you'll do a lot more.
This may be completely irrelevant to the damn quote but what the hell. I would like to get a boyfriend, engaged, married and family. Get one of my careers and training. Get the hell outta my parent's places.
Oh for Christ's sake I found nothing with people my age.
I kept waiting for the speaker to say somethig funny or profound. Turns out this was just an exercise in dull narcissism. Hence the vest, hence the goatee...Hence, even, the "bags".
It was either by John Updike or Philip Roth? I find this funny all on its own but wont waste being pointleslly snarky.
More to the point, it is a useful topic and to me speaks to the way technology and culture have prolonged adolescence. 19 year olds sucking pacifiers at raves, grown men lining up to see STAR WARS XXII, or grouchy old mules like myself listening to Radiohead covers of Joy Division? Apparently 50 is the new 16.
I'm 37. I find that I'm a totally different person in my 30s than I was in my 20s. At 33 went to my first four-day music festival and camped out. Yes, it's true, me, preppy corporate girly-girl. Well, I feel in love with festivals and now I go annually to Bonnaroo. I even go days and days without showering at these festivals. Gasp, I know. No need to comment back. Thanks - great topic and makes me glad the quote doesn't fit this gal.
Even if it is true it's not that scary for me... I'll just have to do a lot of things until I'm 30. ;) But I believe it's up to each person and to the circumstances in everyone's lives, which might or might not make this statement come true.
Cont'd...:There he took a life coaching course, and took a crack at that for 2 years. He stopped that, and got a job as a Mercedes car salesman for a year. He's since left that job and is now working on his typing ;) So, it's all variable I suppose!!
My Dad is 58. By the time he was 22 he had owned his own electrical company and was making 100,000 dollars a year. After 15 years or so, he sold the business and took 4 years off to spend with us. After a four year hiatus he took our log cabin Summer home and made it into a Bed and Breakfast lodge. They had the bed and breakfast for 10 years. They then sold the bed and breakfast and moved to a smaller city.
I love this video, you are cracking me up with the dark circles head turn. Tyra could learn a few things from you. I guess I dont have much a problem with doing more of the same by 30, provided I am getting better at it.
it might be that I'm only 20 but I don't think thats true, or don't want to believe it.
new and exciting things happen all the time you just need to not feel defeated at 30 and think that what you have done is the end of the road, because once you think it, then it becomes true.
Hmmm, I'm looking at 56 this year. After I turned 30 I went to Europe several times, began traveling this country solo, bought a house alone. Ended a 20+ year marriage and spent 15 years on my own and just 2 years ago remarried. So, I'd have to say no, while some things are repeated, they are mostly good things. But if you make an effort to try new things, you can & will. I learned to install garbage disposals, shower heads & sinks. I'm thinking of learning to ride a motorcycle. It's up to you.
if that were true, i think no one would have a midlife crisis. my uncle didn't start playing video games until he was in his 50's, my dad decided to become a journalist at 55. . .look forward to many new things in the coming years, michael. . .
Excellent video as always. I think we all can get in a rut in life sometimes so it seems like we keep repeating the same stuff. But I have met alot of ppl who say life really didn't get interesting or that they really didn't know themselves to well after 35. Which is good cuz at almost 32 I don't want keep doing the same crap I did in my 20s tho I guess some of it wasn't so bad. :)
I will be 30 in 7 months and have no intention of stopping doing new stuff. On the list (and some of these are on the list still due to the planning behind where and why I will do them).....parachute jump, run a marathon, climb a mountain, put videos on You Tube and there are others too. But as I say, no intention of not trying new things. There will of course be many, many, many things i've already done that will be done a lot more after 30 too.
I don't think so. The internet didn't even become that popular til mid to late 90s, and I seem to be learning different things due to the internet. It gives me opportunities to look things up. Places to go, tings to do, hobbies, meet people, etc. Plus I was quite the computerphobe (is that a word?) before the internet, and now I can do lotsa things on teh computer I've never dreamed. I disagree. (Currently 44)
Well...it hasn't been true for me. I'll be 43 in a few months and I can tell you that I've done a LOT of newish things in the past 13 years. I became a professional musician after 30...however, I DID do it my whole life so that might not count...hehehe I will certainly agree though that we set a serious stage on which to dance by 30...hehehe I didn't even know who I was until my mid-30's (still wondering at times...heheh) Great food for thought Michael!
Well maybe it's 'cos I haven't been told that but I think it's bull. I didn't meet Joe till I was 32. Went on to get married and have two kids. There's so much I've done and I have no intention of stopping.
Watched 'The Bucket List' last night and you should really see that if you haven't already (Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson, what an ace combo).
Your vest took my mind off your bags by the way! Cheers, Lesley
Count me among the "it's your choice" crew. Most of my biggest adventures and new experiences took place in my 30s. I started with moving away from my hometown to San Francisco at age 31, and it's been a nonstop rollercoaster of international travel, German and sign language classes, bungee jumping, YouTubing, becoming a cinephile, etc. ever since. There are still many new experiences I want to have and it's my choice whether I will have them or not.
mmm Hi, I do much more now in my forties than I did before although i am cinstantly nailbitingly frightened :{ I wont have done enough. I am also a lot braver now. Now I am probably going to start worrying again..damn :))
After 30 I mostly repeated that which worked for me from those eariler years. But I have done so much more since 30 than I ever dreamed possible. New exciting things. Some like to settle into the comfort of their lives while others are explorers into new worlds of experience. You make the life you want to live. Youtubers seem to me to be mostly explorers. We follow the path that give us comfort, happiness, and maybe even love. :)
Under-eye concealer Michael. Horse feathers to not experiencing new things after thirty! One good thing about my age is, my memory is so bad, that old experiences seem like new ones! Really. luv you Michae. hugs, Chris
You look gorgeous...as ALWAYS my dear. I don't think it's true. It's not true for me at all. I'm a totally different person then I was at 30. I think I'm just starting to become who I am. I look at life like this: We have many reincarnation in one lifetime. Seriously.... I'm just starting baby! As are you my beautiful friend.. :D
I have chosen to do more new and exciting things since I turned 30. I did lots of new and exciting things before I was 30. The point is: IT IS A CHOICE! Don't choose to believe some stupid story you read and allow it to dictate your miserable life....instead decide to do new things. It is really a simple concept!
I'm turning 30 in 4 months. You've devastated me! My life has been so empty and meaningless since the day I was born. I have no life and I've never had a single friend my entire life! To think it will always be this way! *sobbing uncontrollably* .. nahh.. I'm half-kidding.
Nope...not true. It's only true if you let it be. You control...you choose. I've done a lot of things after thirty that I didn't do before. Flew in a tiny plane, had a helicopter ride, traveled outside the US, VLOGGED. :) Just keep in mind that YOU can make that statement true, or YOU can prove it false. :) hugs!
That statement hasn't really been true for me. The older I get, the more financially secure we've become and we have the ability to do more and more things we never could before. Now that the kids are pretty much grown, we have the time to do experience new things as well.
Michael! You are SOOO cute and handsome, circles and all! Advice: light from above face will diminish dark circles.
I dont necessarily agree with it ... I mean I know people tend to get "comfortable", but as long as you have an adventurous spirit you will do new things. I went for an audition the other day ... an amateur musical. I've never done that before. You have to scare yourself sometimes to remind yourself your still here and alive.
I feel the same way you do about the comments (well put!)
Iam not sure about the have and havent dones. In a way, I feel like it is the exact opposite. (you learn) (or you conform) (oh I dont know, thank god for brackets)
I have heard that question and I have found it to be true.(Even thought I am only 24.) The last two summers I spent time with my friends fulfilling the dreams we have and I plan for the same this summer. It is always good to try new experiences that will make individuals engaged, challenged and happy. Such things keep the mind young. Thanks for asking us the question Michael.
Michael I feel that I have spent my whole life waiting to live. Wait til the kids are older, wait til the kids are out of the house, wait til I lose some weight, wait til I have more money , wait til I get a divorce and then wait til I get married again. Now I am facing 60 next year and I realize I will never do the things I always wanted to do. Now I buy a tree for shade and check to see how many years til maturity. If I were 40 again I would do some things differently. It passed too quickly.
Wow, now I am depressed for two reasons. Firstly, I haven't done so many things, bummer and secondly, you won't respond to this comment. Life is a swirling eddy of despair in an ever darkening universe.
Well, I'm 40(ish) ;) And I have never gone hot air ballooning, and I want to. I have wanted to since forever. And I know I probably will, when given the chance, on a visit to the mainland. I never wanted to go skydiving, so yeah, I don't see that happening. I think there are quite a lot of things that I haven't yet done that I want to do, I just need to get the opportunity to do it. It's limited here in Hawaii.
I was thinking of this just the other day. I sort of feel that at this stage of my life, I'm just coasting along on a very slight decline. The thing is...is that a bad thing that I'm enjoying the ride? Should I be doing more than being content?? If you can be content at my age, why not 'just do it'.
Trust me, john or phil will not be watchin your videos. Why? Because who gives a flyin fuck what you say!!!! Am I not the best? hahahaha... fuckin loser.
