  • One of their greatest albums and it got no recognition.

  • Very gifted bass player and the vocals are yummy!!!

  • What's with the singer slapping the bass strings with his fingers? Does it make some kind of different sound like that? I can't really tell from this song.

  • @DoomDodgers Mark King is reasonably famous for his finger slap style on the base guitar. Check out Wiki.

  • gracias sres...en verdad su musicam me contagia....

  • very geil

  • Type "Ranj Catch 22" if you wanna hear a cool song!

  • escuchar este grupo me hace retroceder en el tiempo, vivi muchos lindos momentos con esta musica....level 42 forever!!!!

  • @starkjt Just because shit like Justin Bieber are models.

  • What a great song from the past. Where are these songs today?

  • Bring back the 80's? Why not?

  • i love the 80 's ..fantastic!!!!every song is magic ..anche the level 42 was a very fantastic band

  • I'm a great great fan of L42 but I don't like this one... I think it's very very far from love games, heaven in my hands, something about you, lessons...etc...:( it was the end of L42:(((

Live at wembley is a best of live music all over the world and the time

  • with the dire straits "alchemy..."

  • Isn't there a STEREO version on YouTube? Mono SUX!

  • I am 16 years old and unfortunately I din't live in the 70s/80s.

But i really ask myself how could people change from such wonderful music to crap music that is played these days.

  • Stop at 1:22 and you'll see the hardware sequencer: Yamaha QX3

  • I love level 42... but, aside from Something About You, their music videos are painfully cheesy.

  • Elizabeth Hurley and VOGUE magazine LIES deliberately. I would like to tell you a story about Elizabeth Hurley. Elizabeth Hurley and VOGUE LIES deliberately. Elizabeth Hurley and VOGUE LIES deliberately.

  • Heh, I could listen to this song all day.

  • Garanteed...a place inside our hearts...we will never forget a single moment spent listening to this incredible music...

  • The only thing I would change about this song is the chorus since it throws off the mood of the song. The part leading up to the chorus is amazing nonetheless.

  • nice

  • We have 13 deaf here.

  • wow they got older and they look diffent acept for the guitar guy the one that looks latino he still looks the same

  • geweldig nummer van Level 42, vooral de kopstem van Mike ertussen

  • geweldig nummer van Level 42, vooral de kopstem van Mike ertussen

  • I fell bad that I missed them when they came near my town a month or two ago and I don,t think they will be touring any time next year.

  • Lolz this sound like Toto

  • NEW YORK TONIGHT!

  • Whenever I listen to this song, it reminds of that special someone from my past but continues to influence my future.

  • It's guaranteed that I love this song;P

  • If I was asked what my all time favorite song is, I think I'd have to say this one. It's hard to pick an all time favorite. I can 'guarantee' that I will never get sick of this song. :D

  • Great band! I saw them open for Madonna's Who's That Girl Tour in Dallas, TX in 1987. Wow............things sure have changed since then, but that's another story.

  • level42 the best.........

  • Mark is King-shit, awsome

  • excelente

Looking forward to your comments YAWN and if its a battle of wits youre after-forget it -your obviously un-armed..

  • yes i am

  • Did you know that the guitarist is marks second wife kid. They put him up for adoption

They also had a girl and gave her to the first wife.

  • @sarebear1997

    wow

    how do u know this?:P

  • Great band. I've always liked these guys. Classic sound of their own !

  • Absolutely fantastic...tight percussion, on tempo funky bit with classic message--way ahead in terms of musicianship to many other "popular" pop producers in any era--especially today's stuff...these guys have mastered it!

  • hi guys

level 42 they are the best and allways will stay the best i use to listen to them in my teenage time in algeria and when i move to canada few people know them

  • A damn site better than you remember, an old sound that hasnt dated thanks to some brilliant songwriting.....

  • Unfortunately, the US only knew this band for Something about you and Lessons in Love. I live in the US and have listened to Level 42 for the last 20 years. They're awesome and should have destroyed our To 40 charts!

  • Screech is my idol! XD

  • Hahahahaha-made my day. Mr Belding on drums

  • @dickturnipmarlboro hey, you're right! I hadn't noticed Mr. Belding there... LOL!

  • this band is awesome they need to come to DC or MD or VA to perform a concert.

  • I used to do "something about you" with my band back in the 80's. I'm glad that their still around . Great group !

  • fantastic song!!!

  • A TRUE BAND

  • Mark King's a BEAST!

  • Slaphand :)

    LEVEL 42 ALWAYS

  • i like mark and gary

  • LOVE LEVEL42

  • super i like this music [i am 11!]

  • It's so different from their early stuff and yet GREAT. What's the magic behind this song? Yes, it's simple, but I justy can't stop listening to it !

  • great band

  • what a brilliant band!!!

  • Great musicians, songwriters, good taste - great band!

  • mark looks like david gilmoure xD

  • its allright and

    wonderful

  • level42 is back

  • Where can I find a download of this song? Its not on itunes :(

  • LIMEWIRE :D

  • Mark Is The King!

  • It's sad to see this shit! I love this song, and I love Level 42. It's just something wrong to see the the NOT Level 42! This is just Mike and Mark doing a "suverän" song in swedish.... I miss the old Level! Suverän is Superb!

  • Which one told it?

  • Sorry to hear you say you did not like Starring at the sun. I personnally love it.

Especially "Heaven in my hands" and "Man". These guys are not afraid to experiment various styles of music.

  • I love it to. Do you know any one whose got the song Starring at the sun on you tube cause it is such a good song?

  • o barack with no grey hear,-))))

  • barack oba,a on keybords...heheheh

  • Obama on keyboards... hahahaha!

    You're right

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!!! mark i love youuu!!!

  • Level 42 ist was ganz ganz Feines!

  • einfach nur "gute laune" musik! super!! greetings from germany!

  • Great song from a great band!

  • and where's allan holdsworth!?

  • Allan left between recording the album and the filming of the video clip. Hence you can hear him, but you can't see him. Or at least that's what wikipedia tells me.

  • how I can download this song?

because is not in ares U_U

  • What an incredible band ! Such a pleasure to watch them perform .

  • a great band and mark king is a really nice bloke, but who is on guitar?on the album and tour it was allan holdsworth so who is that?

  • Umm - I think Gary Husband was their drummer, can't remember the guitarist during this lineup - it was after Phil and Boon Gould left the band.

  • its Jakko Jakszyk

  • A hit in the UK, but did nothing in the US. But I think this is one of their best songs.

I'd wish they would tour the US.

  • The break from 2: 23 - to 245 is beautiful. Typical Mike - sound-innovative.

  • Not only Mike but the way Jakko sang with mike is exceptional as well...

  • welcom thou play

  • The song is simply awesome :)

  • If you have never seen them live.. then go and see them.. they are awesome!! Saw them last night in London.. the crowd went wild. they played some recent and old tunes they are famous for.. it was a great night. 5 stars are not enough!!!

  • Special song for me. Loved L42 all my life but dissapointed with Staring at the sun album, thought it was rushed through in the studio and could tell with some tracks. This song picked up the pace again. Overtime was nice too.

  • I love this song as i loved the early ones, even if they changed their style of music. So what? Depeche Mode changed their style so many times since the 80's, and i love them since the beginning too.

  • Why does it have to fit into a category? One of Level 42's charms was that they never cared much for genres. I think that's the best way to be. I personally love this song, but I agree that musically it's a bit limp compared to some of their work. (also, the look in Mark's eyes at the chorus? Lovely! :O)

  • watched them in m/cr last night they,ve not lost it BRILLIANT.

  • excellent!!! wonderful........MARAVILLOSO ; QUE BUENOS MUSICOS:::::::::

  • Best Song !

  • I love these guys! Thanks for sharing!!!

  • its not that bad in my opinion

  • Why does it have to into a certain category?? Its Level 42...and its all good to me and its actually NOT the weakest tune they released...everyone has their own "weak" tune...I for one, dont care much for "Tracie"..LOVE LOVE LOVE the video, dont care for the song!!! :--)

  • Oh yeah...and "Running in the Family"

  • Yes, i can understand that syle is very different from the early level 42, but i think it's pleasurable the same!!

The album "Guaranteed" is a Mesterpiece of Level 42. I Think so. Regards

  • I agree. As you can see all people want to hear is "best song".."i love them"...but a right comment about music...is hard to swallow. This song is ok, of course, but its not a lvl 42 song.

  • Fair point, you can't please all the people all the time.

I like ALL of L42s songs - for me they are very much under rated.

  • i agree. a lot of the reviews i've read of their albums just don't really seem to have any good things to say about their music. which is a shame because they are fantastic. they are very underrated. but i love em!

  • i like mr. pink

the rest im not so sure

  • Good to see this video...I don't think this is on their video collection is it? I haven't this one...Thanks! Level 42 Rocks!!!

  • Level 42 is one of those rare bands which just a tremendous pleasure to WATCH them just playing good music without them having to resort to fancy dance moves, costumes, scruffy, rugged or sexy image...If you were on a tight budget for a concert, L42's a good bet. Satisfaction guaranteed.

  • On a budget? It cost me nearly £60 for two tickets to see them this autumn, not that I mind :p

  • your guarenteed a place in my heart a totaly down to earth kool song

  • I saw the original Level 42 live back in the early 80's. You think this is good LOL

  • These guy puts a very high level of quality in their music!

  • guys*

  • Just a cracking consistantly good band.. great live, nice guys - respect the Level.

  • My sis says that Mark has met him twice and he's the sweetest and most down to earth bloke that she's met. He also has a lot of time for his fans she says.

  • My absolute favorite song by Level 42. Beautiful melody and vocal harmonies.

  • mark played bass on rick astley's "free" lp

  • i hope now that mikes back they play this on the next tour

  • Unlikely, since in these later years, they only seem to play their 'greatest hits' songs and a few Retroglide songs. Too bad, really.

  • not in their 3 concerts I've been to they don't

  • I am a casual listener of Level 42 and this is a fave song of mine it is very catchy. It was a hit in the UK and is a decent video. I recently bought The Ultimate Collection 2cd/dvd and either version of this video or the one for Overtime was not included. Anyone know why. Was it just a record company thing. Im sure fans would have wanted a complete video collection.

  • I'm a heavy L42 fan, though not an expert on the band as some of my friends are, and this song is still a favorite after 16 years (I first heard it when the States got the album in 1992). The first time I heard it I had trouble adjusting to the rock guitars. After playing it for half a day the harmonies and clarity of the music hooked me.

  • love the words, video, it's their best song in my opinion

  • Fully agree !

Believe it or not, I just discovered this song ... 2 days ago (6 Apr 08) and am completely addicted to it and am playing it over and over again... Guess I'm making up for lost time...

    G.

  • Listen those vocals and harmonies. Man, this one takes me everytime.

  • Awesome!!!! havnt heard this tune for a while... sounds as good as the 1st time. level 42 are pure magic!

  • Awesome band and song!!!

  • brilliant roll on oct 4th manchester.

  • Keyboardist is cute

  • Yes,That was Jakko Jakszyk.Level 42 has had many a great guitarist.SUPERB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i love this song ha mark kings facial expressions at 3:34 so funny cracks me up everytime.

  • LOL. Gippy face.

  • is that a laser or a weight on mark kings thumb?

  • It's a rubber band to protect his thumb

  • It's tape....Usually electrical or duct tape. He uses it to protect his thumb while banging away on his bass. He's been using tape ever since a gig in Holland back in the early '80's when he was playing so hard that he literally split the side of his thumb and he's been wearing tape ever since. Mark says the sound from the tape isn't that good as playing without it is better but that was his option because he does so many shows and he was trying to save wear and tear on his thumb.

  • He has his thumb insured for £1m.

  • Get onto iTunes and buy the Retroglide album ! It is better than this... Try Rooted or Way back Home!

  • Thank you. I did end up ordering Retroglide, and I love it. I also ordered Mark King One Man.

  • After checking out this video, along with the

Overtime video, I immediately went on line and ordered the cd. It is just what I need to brighten up these winter months in Niagara Falls.

  • gr8 track

  • i love this song when it comes on the radio at work.

  • Quite simply...their songs are my mind's internal soundtrack of my life...from mid 80's on.

    Unreal talent....

  • Level 42 was, and still are, a great group. One of the most under rates groups ever. They definitely should have been bigger than they were.

  • amazing band ive just started listening to them the bass is ace

  • Amazing is right! I never tire of listening to Level 42.I am big fan!

  • Level 42 were not as big as they deserved to be,maybe thats ok though, they are recognised by those who really get them and appreciate them. They have a sizable fan base and still amaze their followers.

  • Level 42 has sold over 30 million albums worldwide. That is pretty big. I think cause they never got huge in America was the problem, much like other British bands of the era, Swing Out Sister, Shakatak, Everything But the Girl, etc. They were all GREAT bands and some are still recording!

  • They still have a huge following, myself included.Althogh they were not as big as they should have been, dear Mr King had one very civil thing to say,"The time we put out a single, there were also other great tunes also released that entered the charts"

  • buenisimo este video de level 42, desconocia la existencia de un segundo video de "guaranteed", ademas de ser un album maldito en la carrera de level 42.

  • Last time i saw Mark he was flying over my head on a high wire, round about 1991,happy days !!!!

  • Mike Lindup looks like my good looking Gospel Teacher and I am crazy about Mike Lindup and my Teacher. They both Rock!

  • I discovered this song on You Tube about 10 days and can't get the damn song out of my head!!! But that's okay because I love it. Went out to itunes today and could not find it. What's up with that?

  • Mike Lindup has the best melodic voice. Mark doesn't look anything at all in his other video "Something about you" He looked really nerdy in that video but here he looks buff and hot.
