For those out there who have never experienced the game, And are still trying to find out more about the game. Don't listen to the people slagging off the game, Give the game a chance and try it out. Most of you will not be disapointed unless you are seriously really picky like the Yourass117 guy who picks out even the slightest of things and makes a fuss over them.
By the way, before any of you compare mwf2 saying it's better than this. Check out the new care package glitch, calling in over 50 odd emergencies a game.
This game is far more tactical and actually requires team work. not just having to sit in a corner and wait for someone to come to you. You actually have to get off your backside and work together with your team to complete your objective.
This is not a bad game to be honest. Ok it has a few downsides. SO WHAT, everygame has a fault. MWF2, hmm javelin glitch, xp lobbies, oh wait not to include evevators that give someone a mass advantage over others. This game is pretty decent in them aspects, people don't evevate above the map and into places where only they can kill someone. And unlike core mode on mwf2. U can actually kill someone without having to use 1 full ammo clip.

Basically the worst part of this game is the massively exagerrated military realism, lack of fast-paced fun and just lack of difference between levels.
But there are certainly good aspects about this game. Large maps, freedom of tactics, intruiginly well done lighting within both day and night and the fact that you need to plan out your attacks makes this more worthwile, if only they had made it more fun and spent some more time working on it.

Also, the 50 plus weapons and vehicles advertised was a complete lie, and you only get to pilot helicopters twice,tanks twice, and jeeps a few times. I guess the fact that its a video game and its supposed to be fun, wasn't a big deal for them, neither was false advertising.
REALISM:
-Weapons: handle well, look good, sound cool and go bang. Hooray! Unfortunately switching between other items is often impossibly slow, like having to jam the fire button for 5 seconds for grenades

Running all over the same area of 5 km twice(because checkpoints are litterally that far from each other), only to get shot in the head right away and taking 5 minutes for it to load way back where you started is fucking annoying, but still offers a chance to try it differently.There are stupid little things that really add up, like calling your guys to get in a jeep, only to have them move at the speed of smell, is dum
-Humans: both friends and foes are quite smart and have lots of options (take cover, flank you, hold fire)
Vehicles: Tanks don't seem to use their main guns, and your guys drive very slowly

-Humans: you can walk up a 70 degree cliff, motion capture for changing kit is retardedly slow, mainly for grenades and health
-Vehicles: even when driving at medium speed in a jeep of APC, going over a rock won't work, hitting it flipping in the air and crashing is what will happen!

My only complaint is the whole command system. Maybe it's just me, but I just hate being burdened with telling my guys what to do in the heat of battle. I don't think command systems work in FPS games. You need to be able to just talk to your teammates instead of pressing a combination of buttons. If I could just tell my teammates, "Go there" without a combination of buttons, it would be much easier.
That's what I like about MW. You don't give orders. Your got your CO, he tells you what to do and you do it. Maybe it's just me, but I would rather just give me a rifle and tell me what to do with it.
I loved the Arma 2 controls that you can turn your head while running, and still see your body, and the recoil is more realistic. The cinema was great, too. But I like this one more because the AI is less buggy, and the sounds are fantastic. Both games get a good rating in realism imo. You have to take your time and you alone vs 9 bad guys doesn't look the same as it does in Halo or MW. Don't get me wrong, I like those games, too. =D

Given, gameplay is the most important, but try playing a game without sound, or when a game looks like a choppy version of southpark. Gameplay, visuals, and sound all play an important role in your enjoyment of a game and realistic graphics almost NEVER hurts your experience. I can't say the same for crappy graphics.
Sure, but look at it this way. Super Mario 64 is still a really fun game. Are the graphics good? Nope. Even if the graphics are terrible, and sound is shite, but the game plays amazingly well, I'll play it. I might rent it, not buy it, but I'll still play it. If the game has amazing graphics, great sound, but awful gameplay, then I'm not even going to touch it with a stick.
In my opinion, graphics are minimally important... I mean, I'd rather play nethack than Lair...
@hobbes71002 I see where you are coming from but for your Super Mario 64 example, it may look like crap but the cartoony graphics lend it to lower polygon counts and lower rez textures extremely well. I guess what I trying to say is: Gameplay is the most important thing, but bad visuals and audio will just draw you more and more out of the experience and for a game like this, it makes more of an impact.

The grapics dont suck. Maybe they suck on the consoles, but if you max out the game included AA and AF on the pc it is absolutely beautiful. Oh and the grapics of HL2 are way to bright and colourful to represent a real world.

I played typhoon rising on the PC back in 2006 and yes this is worth getting more then codmw2 multiplayer wise. well, this game is supposed to bring a realistic, but adrenaline rushing and gritty combat experience, plus the sandbox makes this like, in a sense, far cry 2 on steroids

-Environment: Foliage design is pretty good, although even a JDAM won't knock a tree down!
-Humans: detail and color is very well done, except your team looks very plain and immobile around the face and arms
-Vehicles: very well designed
AUDIO:
-Environment: You won't hear the wind whistling through the trees but the waves on a beach sound good
-Human: Voice acting is well done, but quite often you and your squadmates qill sound like robots

Given, gameplay is the most important, but try playing a game without sound, or when a game looks like a choppy version of southpark. Gameplay, visuals, and sound all play an important role in your enjoyment of a game and realistic graphics almost NEVER hurts your experience. I can't say the same for crappy graphics.

Sure, but look at it this way. Super Mario 64 is still a really fun game. Are the graphics good? Nope. Even if the graphics are terrible, and sound is shite, but the game plays amazingly well, I'll play it. I might rent it, not buy it, but I'll still play it. If the game has amazing graphics, great sound, but awful gameplay, then I'm not even going to touch it with a stick.
In my opinion, graphics are minimally important... I mean, I'd rather play nethack than Lair...

@hobbes71002 I see where you are coming from but for your Super Mario 64 example, it may look like crap but the cartoony graphics lend it to lower polygon counts and lower rez textures extremely well. I guess what I trying to say is: Gameplay is the most important thing, but bad visuals and audio will just draw you more and more out of the experience and for a game like this, it makes more of an impact.

Perhaps, but I played all the way through OpF2 and I really liked it. Never once did I think "Gah, these graphics are ruining this game!"
In fact, I'm not sure I even thought about the graphics at all... It is a good looking game, good enough for me not to care about the visuals at all, and I think nearly every game that has been produced to date have this same effect on me. I don't think you can name one game that looks bad enough for me not to play it...

The grapics dont suck. Maybe they suck on the consoles, but if you max out the game included AA and AF on the pc it is absolutely beautiful. Oh and the grapics of HL2 are way to bright and colourful to represent a real world.

I played typhoon rising on the PC back in 2006 and yes this is worth getting more then codmw2 multiplayer wise. This game is more in depth with a vast array of wepons and vehicels at your disposal. i don't know what type of game your into THEMASKEDBRIT but if your on the fence about it why not just rent it first and see what you think 09/10/09

Wouldn't say this was that realistic to be honest. It is authentic but these easier levels they're showing aren't nearly as realstic as other games.
Try Americas Army 3, Red ochestra, Darkest hour or Project Reality if you want a real combat sim.
I realise that if you were to play this on hard you probably dont get cross hairs or whatever. But it still wont be that realistic.

Agreed, you forgot to mention the main rival though, ArmA 2. Americas Army 3 is realistic but on a tiny scale, Red Orchestra is a compromise like this game, Project reality is ok I guess.

well, this game is supposed to bring a realistic, but adrenaline rushing and gritty combat experience, plus the sandbox makes this like, in a sense, far cry 2 on steroids

ps3 is catching up even though it was more expensive, and 16 months after xbox 360.
only a couple of million away from xbox and the slim will help close that gap even more.
ps3 also has free online
amazing games comming to it and already on it
very reliable
and it costs as much as the elite
and you get more for your money

ps3 have dedicated servers. look at mag 256 players in one map and theres no lag
