I have the 'complete' version...except it is on vhs...sorry. It is wonderful. Smike is a 10. The BW version was what I saw originally many years ago. Check AMC or TCM. Or, read the book. This was my first introduction to Nicholas and his family history. Now it IS the best.

Blasphemy! Jamie is the best Smike ever!! Ha, ha, I haven't actually had the opportunity to see the other popular ones, but I still can't imagine Jamie's Smike being subpar, I love his portrayal. The whole movie is amazing. I do rather wish someone could upload it all so I could make darling Smike vids. :) Or at least upload Smike vids.

This is like my favorite movie. Jamie Bell is perfection, his acting is amazing, and the whole cast did a great job. I read the book because I was totally in love with the movie, and the book was great too.

Working through it now. Definitely not his best work. Dickens had a tendency of flogging a dead horse when it comes to plot lines and characters. Just when you think everything comes to a logical conclusion, he starts up a new plot or reintroduces an old character or brings in a new one.

And the language, my God. Bruises are less purple.

Not just watching this Movie,

I feel that the movie was totaly different Charles's Theme.

For me I prefer the book, not the movie version.

And I don't have any negative idea onto anyone.

I'm totally with you there. I thought the one with D'arcy followed the book more closely than this one. Even though I'm an American, with all due respect of course to other Americans, I still think the British have the market cornered on good classical adaptations.
