  • Now there's 4 gb ram in a MacBook air!

  • @DPCB01 Look at the date:L 2008?

  • I just checked and Apple put 4 GIGS of ram on my iMac!

  • @evenairlines that's because 1GB isn't enough, I originally wrote in this day and age, but even when the Mac Pros came out 1gb wasn't enough unless you wre only web broswing and using word

  • @teheverythingshow 3 gigs is still good.

  • @NocredRS same :)

  • @NocredRS 192gb actually

  • Is there still only 3 gigs left on the machine or more?

  • FB Dimms= Fat basterd Dimms XD

  • Gay for Crapple

  • the new mac pro do not used the same ram

  • Yu should of done it on the ova stick :L

  • Dude, you're doing it wrong. Getting the oil from your fingers on the RAM connectors is a great way to ruin a RAM stick. For anyone watching, only hold a RAM stick by the outside part of the ends. This is what decades of not being able to upgrade your hardware will do to you. Now you'll have to but new sticks in a year when those burn out.

  • this was the time before mac used pc hardware now i uses core i7 so no hardware difference

  • not really...with 1gb RAM i manage to surf the web, watch youtube videos, edit images in GIMP and all kinds of stuff all at the same time. but still, you're right in saying that more RAM is certainly better, and I'm hoping to upgrade this christmas to be even more productive :)

  • good review thanks

  • lol i hear music......

  • Your Macintosh Pro Needs More Memory, True?

  • Isn't Solid Nutrition Alfred's company

  • that what She said

  • 4 mac pro ram sticks from apple is 999.00! You can buy a whole new macbook with that money. Also it is 2 gb sticks

  • U R A STUK Up geek and u r annoying as fuk goodbye

  • @doogiedog1234 Excuse me I don't mean to be an asshole how is he stuck up is it because he has a mac pro and you don't

  • @macandpctips111 I do have a mac pro.... yet i dont post videos of it boasting about how spoilt i am

  • You think this case is nice because as a true Apple enthusiastic you hide the reality from your eyes which is that if you look up for cases on eBay or Google you will find ten thousand times more nice looking cases. Alien cases or anything else, there is one for every taste.

  • I've heat sinks twice this big and blue (HyperX from Kingston) they are very cool and I am on a PC.

  • Does upgrading hardware void your Apple Care?

  • nope, as long as your upgrading only the ram memory

  • u can like put 32GB in that! :p

  • I have looked at alot of pc case reviews and when I see the Mac Pro I wonder, how do the harddrives get cooled? I don´t see any fans.

And what´s those two big things lying on the ram board? I mean the second ram board. I have seen them on on other pictures of the Mac Pro.

  • @Nefus2:

    Same here.

macward66 actually has/had some vids up that showed his temps when maxing the CPU's on his Mac Pro.

The CPU itself was running very cool. Around 127F (52C).

Thats a good result, considering fans very not very loud.

But I noticed his HDD's were at the same temp as the CPU.

Thats hot for a HDD if you ask me. My HDD on my Hackintosh is usually around 27-28C (80-82F).

  • you don't HAVE to have a heatsink on your RAM, it's just if you have a 6GB stick of RAM (or some huge amount bigger than 1GB) or if it just naturally get HOT!!!

  • Don't be stupid 06,07,08 mac pro's have heat sink just because there are on razer card

  • the mac ram have that heatsinkon them because of the position in a pc u actualy have airflow=))

  • Fail. Because new mac pros (2009 model) doesnt have special ram and without heatsink

  • how retarded can the guys below be a mac is basicly a pc server so a pc server handles 64gb ram and lots of tb so before commenting check your facts

  • I don't like people like you. No one cares what you think!

  • the inside of the mac pro is the most organized computer i have ever seen

  • Is it worth upgrading my macbook pro from 2gb to 4gb. By the way I work for a graphic design company and we use the macbook pro and then transfer onto a mac pro.

  • yeah, go for it!

  • You thanked your mac when it told you the time. I do the same sometimes. ^.^""

  • Newer Mac Pros are better with the RAM issue, because the RAM for the older Mac Pros (DDR2 FB-DIMMs) run really hot and rather slowly. The newer DDR3 DIMMs run much faster and cooler.

  • It's basically overkill, except if you have REALLY graphics intensive games (and there aren't any suitable video cards for Mac w/o Boot Camp) or if you use the Mac Pro with CAD applications.

  • Just bump it up to 8GB already!

  • ok dude im a pc user but your makin me fall in love with macs LOL

  • Mac's are very intuitive. If your a student you can get a small discount.

  • It's not a good idea to use bubblewrap to install the memory. Use the anti-static bag where the memories were in.

  • if its not going to brake why put it on bubble wrap?

  • :-p

  • bof

  • my macbook has 1 gb of ram. =(

  • at least you have a macbook im on a 11 year old dell dimension 4300

  • my old dell pc from 2002 came with 1 gb of ram: that's good for 2002...

  • great video :)

  • Lol.. apple charge too much for their hardware? its not the first time.!

just like Intel charge too much.

Go to crucial, and buy it directly including free shipping. I have 8GB of DDR2 800Mhz RAM in my machine AMD machine.

  • I have 6 GB of DDR3 1066 MHz of Ram in my Mac Pro

  • Nice, very nice.

The machine just behaves as it should with more ram.

  • cool

  • my year old dell has 2.5 gb of ram

  • thats nothing to brag about lol. a Power Mac G5 from 2005 could support up to 12GB RAM. My MacBook has 4GB RAM ram in it and its almost 2 years old. Vista can't handle more than 2GB, for it to handle more you have to buy the 64-bit version of vista

  • Vista can handle up to 4GB's of RAM, or 3.5GB. 64 bit Vista can handle up to 8GB I believe.

  • vista x64bit is able to handle up to 128GB of ram

  • At this time compare your almost brand new Snow Leopard with WIndows 7, and vista suport a max of 16GB

  • Mac OS X Snow Leopard will be able to support 16 terabytes of RAM, of course no motherboard will be able to have that amount & windows 7 is 192GB LOL

  • for a start Snow Leopard isn't even out yet, it comes out in September, Leopard has been out over two years and can support 64GB RAM

  • no vista 64bit suport a max of 128GB RAM

  • macs support 16TB of ram

  • thats theoreticaly

  • so windows supports 64gb

  • shhh now.

  • No they don't. They can't even support a 4 TB hard drive, let alone RAM.

  • uhh someone's confused a mac pro can have 5 hard drives each 1.5TB add it up KID and 32Gigs of ram windows can't even support that

  • WIndows XP 64 bit can support up to 129 GB of RAM... Unless you have a master's in computer science don't call anyone a kid. Maybe you're getting GBs with TBs. An god maxed out gaming PC can support 32 GB of RAM, so 16 TB would cost a at least a million dollars. Hey, maybe Mac Pros can support 32 GBs of RAM, its just below you said 16 TBs.

  • no i said the Mac os supports 16TB's The worlds 3ed most powerful super computer is a bunch of powermac g5's in raid they have a total of 1000gbs of ram and windows just sucks drivers lol ever since i got my mac i forgot what they were

  • Sorry Muk546 Windows 7 Ultimate can support 128 gig RAM. Its usually the motherboard which is the limiting factor. And sa for HArd Drives. I currently have 16tb in my machine...

  • thats windows 7 look at the date of the video 2008 got me?

  • Windows Vista Ultimate can support upto 128 gig of RAM, As for how many gigs of HDD space you can have..Well add a few RAID controllers and the sky's your limit..

  • Windows 7 Ultimate supports upto 128 GB of RAM because its 64-bit, just like Mac OS X Snow Leopard.

  • This video was made back in 2008.

  • @muk546 Heard of 64-Bit? 128+ GB Supported R.A.M.

And can support 2+ TB Hard Drives and is limited to the amount of Sata/ IDE ports.

  • @muk546

It can. your thinking about the 32 bit version of windows, but there is a more popular 64 bit version. 32 bit cant handle anything more than 4 gigs of ram, where as 64 bit can support, I think, upto 4000GB of ram, so its ready for the future, of computers.

  • @muk546 actually with the proper setup windows can handle 192GB/s of RAM. As long as you have a 64 bit operating system.

  • @muk546 windows can!. all you need is a 64 bit os. but because you are an apple fan boy you wouldn't know that.

if you will not beleve me then go out and buy a 64 bit windows 7 Disk and install it on boot camp. with 32 gigs of ram.

  • @1972jeepcommando Every Windows 7 except Home Pre can run up to 192gb of ram.

  • @muk546 eeh windows supports 32 gigs of ram

  • @bambinosto only 64bit windows which until widows 7 could run 32 bit apps and my comment was before windows 7 so get some

  • @muk546 Windows can support that ? What are you talking about ?

  • @cvrpaddycvr this video came out in 2008 before windows 7

  • @muk546 i know but 64bit Vista and XP . 128gb ....

  • @cvrpaddycvr yeah but with that you lost support for alot of 32 bit apps with windows 7 they mostly fixed this

  • @muk546 4 hard drives. not 5.

  • @muk546 windows can support 48gb, do your research

  • @EmoticonMayhem at the time of this video it couldn't

  • @muk546 I'm pretty sure x64 vista and xp could, and besides, 7 existed when you wrote your comment

  • @muk546 ever hear of 64bit os?

  • @muk546 Windows 7 Pro supports 192gb of ram....

  • Comment removed

  • Actually 1 GB is a fine amount of ram

Editing however requires a bit more to not be annoying

  • Unless you are running Windows vista like i am haha

  • @tylerblogger 1 GB of RAM is nothing...... You need the least like 1.25 GB of RAM for window's 7.

  • @Cynice49 I have 1gb RAM in win7 and it runs perfectly smoothly

  • @zigzag5942 I know, Netbooks can run windows 7 and they have 1gb ram but you need a decent amount of ram to do anything but surfing the web......

  • @tylerblogger HAAHAH ARE U A FUCKNUT?

  • it now comes standard woth 6 gig ram, dammit should've waited a month

  • 1GB is a LAME amount of RAM. Seeing that OS X is a 64 bit OS the more RAM the better. Matching sticks allows you to run dual channel DDR.

  • Odd, they must need a strangely shaped Motherboard...

  • "you just put it in and that's it... *as an afterthought* that's what she said jokes aside...."

  • Leopard can supposedly run on a G4! With crap all RAM! I ran Leopard on a 2.16 GHz MacBook with 1GB RAM and it was OK. I wanted Elements to run faster so I upgraded to 2Gb but it was still good on 1Gb. Overall Leopard is a lot less resource hungry than XP or Vista. But I agree lack of RAM was definite bottleneck on your MacPro. The new base Pro comes with "only" 3Gb. Most iMacs come with 4GB! What's that about Apple?!

  • "Insanely easy?" At 05:21

    What does that even mean?

  • it means that its very very very easy!

  • All of youtube was inverted on that day. Youtube did it for April fools

  • you should replace your graphics card because to be honest the 7300gt is sh*t all the ones that apple sell are rubbish,so buy one offamazon(it will also be like $100 cheaper )

  • He got a ati, in another vid of his

  • the ati is still a bit of a rubbish card

  • better than Nvidia 7300

  • omg only 3 gigs

all new laptops have 4 gigs

  • shut up and put the ram in spend 20 minutes yapping about you computer lol lol

  • Good for you you have got it, because if you would have to pay for it from your "pocket money", you would never ever opened it on a carpet.

Polyester Carpets are, as widely known in public, excellent static insulators...

  • shameless plug

  • he is right, it is hard to break a circuit board. ya, apple charges, brand new right now, a $1,500 ADD on for 8 GB of RAM (4 X 2GB). i found the same thing for $200 from OWC (4 X 2GB). Im jealous of your set up. i hope you have a vid on the advantages of 2 screens cause im interested

  • that's crazy heat sinks for just ddr2 800mhz ram but am more of a pc guy so no hatred here though lol

but yeah that macpro case is so sexy plus the hole aluminum hub beaing the hole case is awesome

  • DAVID. MY MUM HAS THAT SAME BACKGROUND ON HER COMPUTER. Well, a non widescreen version. We have a 17" Dell monitor at 1280x1020 I think.

  • ah ah you're kidding everyone, at least 6 gb, under you're the mac pro's shame lol

  • he still only has five now. i'd have to have atleast 8 if i had a mac pro.

  • Why only 3 GB when the Mac Pro can handle much more?

  • wouldn't it be more fun to watch your computer grow?

(plus affording it might be an issue)

  • dude i love your vids but you have a HUGE hard-on for apple.

  • DUDE! i have the same background

  • I have a mac pro quad core 2.66, and upgraded w. 16 gigs of ram, it sures makes a lot of diference, if you do photo or video editing.

I work with photo editing and w/ 16 gigs of ram I'm able to open as much high res tiff or very large psd files as I need to (at once). Pretty awesome...

  • What's really impressed me is that 2g Mac pro memory cost 500$. Does the Mac memory really differ from standard ddr2 800 ... beside the heat sink?

  • I'm also a graphic designer and movie editor.

  • DUDE! when my mac tells me the time i say the same thing! haha.

  • Nice upgrade, but you risk shocking the memory and motherboard on carpet.. just a tip for next time ;)

  • tyler what should we use instead of placing the computer on the carpet? just curious :)

  • I think he did a couple things wrong here. You do need to match the RAM on each riser, and plus, did he ground himself before touch the RAM.

  • pacific how do you ground your self??? :)

  • i've upgraded to 1.5 gb but my pc crashed. so easy it's not. But mac pros are verry good machines. Have fun with your giant machine ;)!

  • I believe he put the ram in wrong. The ram should match on each riser. He should have installed the 2 1gb's on the second riser in the same position as the 1st riser.

  • actually for being FB dimms the mac memory isn't to expensive

  • hey could somone link me the site for the right ram for a macbook pro 2008

    please

  • mac pros are the powerful computer ive ever seen 8 core wow 15,000 pounds to max it fully too pricey for me looks fantastic.ive just got a 24 inch imac I love it so much

  • The mac pros are awesome and have a very nice design but dave c'mon the imacs are definitely the nicest design

although i guess you have the right to your own opinion

  • The iMac is not powerful enough for his needs. If there was the most beautiful computer in the world but it does nothing, what's the point? would you buy it?

  • what is the big deal?! its the same thing to upgrade ram on a PC..., well, its eaven easier on a PC skipping the step of removing part of the board... well, the force of breaking things in PC is the same shit

  • yea new egg's the best place to get electronics. Very Low Prices! That's where i get all my computer parts.

  • man that ram is friggan intense

  • i just got 8 gig of ram, tip u should some new brandish to ur mac i did that it runs alot better.

  • I have 2 gigs of RAM on my current-gen iMac. I run OSX 10.5.5 and it runs great!

  • great video and very informative

  • my computer has 4GB and it runs like shit!

    really slow and sucky.

probably cuz it's not a mac.

    haha.

i will hopefully get a mac soon.

    this was helpful though thanks!

    :)

  • is it vista

  • yeah.

that's why it runs like shit, duh.

    haha.

  • what about the processor...that can add to the lag

  • you take out a gig or two might work

  • That ram is ugly with those heatsinks.

  • you are running in dual channel mode!!!! you should have installed the new ram in the lower riser in order to run in quad channel, but then again 3gb is not matched pair!

  • oops just saw the update vid...nevermind

  • wow u can get sponsors on u tube lol

  • I Have to admit, the inside of the mac pro is beautiful and orginised.

  • ram, on static bubble wrap? get. the. hell. with. it.

  • that's pretty cool how they did that with the risers. i wish my pc had that but it doesn't (obviously it isn't apple lol). i have an enthusiast pc used for hardcore gaming. I would have gotten a mac pro but they are just so expensive, especially with how much hardware i use. and i just have always loved building pcs, i just hate being stuck with windows shita (vista) for dx10.

  • it booted up like instantly

  • Yeah he cut the video

  • There was so many times to say "that's what she said" in there lol...

  • wow, thats a fast boot up!!

  • Nice vid i love my mac pro

  • David, do you have an earing?

  • Ya, It is very cheap also. I have 4 gigs on my macbook. Only costs 100 bucks

  • thank you you dont know it but you did me a favor because you said ''which im very fortunite for'' because i cant stand the kinds that get something like that or other and dont say that you so like i said thank you
