The concert in Downsview Park on June 16th should be amazing. I'm so happy I'm finally able to see these guys after so many years of listening to them.
the situation i'm in sucks. Radiohead's coming to Austin in March. their playing at the Frank Erwin Center and their doing a taping of Austin City Limits, and I couldn't get any tickets to either. fuck my life. fuck it big time.
you can tell, so much of this style is pinned on the vocal style...not just anyone can sing to this style and make it sound right...Thom's got it and i'm a little jealous
so when i had first heard this i imagined this is what it would sound like in that long moment between death and whatever after. then i read the lyrics... yep. the sound and the content are perfect complements in this song. and the title: separator. like when the soul separates from a dead body. "if you think this is over then you're wrong."
first time listening to the song in full, this song toward the middle to end seems to drift and has a roll of sound. the song just reminds you of a summer spring like night life. echo is great.
I thought the drums were naff when i listened to this first but it loops so well over time. The drums just get better - repeating the song again and again and again.
It's like falling in love with them every single day, every single moment... I can't help wondering how they can make me feel so happy and hopeful with their songs..
by the way thanks @Illadelphism :) i've been studying english since i was... 5? i think, if my memory doesn't fuck with me :) im supposed to be in some kind of advanced level, but in Chile this subject is like 1° year, Hello 2° year Hello my name is rick 3° hello my name is rick and i am from Chile, it suuucks.
this will sound weird but Radiohead is like sex man, i mean a lot of the songs are like so fucking perfect, its like making love to music (sorry 4 my english) :)
to me, this song is about finally letting go of the limitations that your physical body burdens you with at the moment you die and suddenly this feeling of bliss and oneness with the universe takes over your soul and you just give in to the natural flow of things. life is the long, weary dream and when you fall out of bed, you're really just falling out of your physical body.
What I love about this track is that it has everyone whos commenting is feeling the same way mainly when those guitars come in at the end. Beautiful! TKOL will get the respect it deserves this album is simply a masterpiece.
I feel sorry for my friends who cannot comprehend TKOL. Absolutely amazing. If they would have added in The Butcher and Supercollider, well then it would have been fuckin' brilliant.
When the guitar part comes in around 2:30, I just want to burst. This song is so goddamn beautiful. Along with Lotus Flower. I'm ashamed for not being familiar with this 'new' album sooner. I was still having my love affair with In Rainbows and older albums to even realize.
Mixolydian mode is my jam. So beautiful. And the guitar part at the end is so strangely optimistic. With the lyrics, its the best way to end a song. The dream and the nature motifs and the idea of a burden seems like its about coming to terms with and leaving behind popularity. Explains the last line, too.
listened to this song at approxomitly 2pm on new years day, after staying up all night/day on acid, was just starting to mellow - this song seemed unbelievably perfect - we were all sat around in silence looking at each other just in awe - possibly the best experience ive had with a song
Goosebumps... don't know why. Enthralling... makes me feel good. When I close my eyes, strangely, I see my soul, dancing in the dim light... Mmmh, good.
If this song were a woman, I'd have consensual sex with her in the missionary position, then call her the next week to see if she wants to go out for sushi.
@rmxjoint if your comment was a woman, I'd have consensual sex with her in the missionary position, then call her the next week to see if she wants to go out for sushi.
Songs remind you of points in your life. This song reminds me of a great (albeit short) point in my life. I wish I could have that point again. That point was great, but I never took time to appreciate it more.
This song places me into a meditative state every time. And the more it progresses through the song, the more I plummet into my peace of mind. Now the song is over, and I am living in the moment.
2:57 When he sings "If you think this is over then you're wrong." I want to cry or kiss someone or hug someone. Every time I just lose myself. Thom Yorke can do the most amazing things with his voice.
Just brilliant. just fantastic. every listen it gets more beautiful. open your mind and your heart and let radiohead take you on a journey to somewhere special.
@TehCheezBurgrz Cyr? Well... Cyr is the strongest man who ever lived. They called him the "Seperator" because he could split atoms by snapping his fingers...
Just fucking with you. I have no idea what/who Cyr is lol.
@GorgonDrageil Louis Cyr (1863-1912) was a famous Canadian strongman with a career spanning the late 19th and early 20th centuries. His recorded feats, including lifting 500 pounds (227 kg) with one finger and carrying 4,337 pounds (1967 kg) on his back, show Cyr to be, according to former International Federation of BodyBuilding & Fitness chairman Ben Weider, the strongest man ever to have lived.
