If you can understand this, let me try to help though
Try grabbing a big lock of mane, one in each hand, before you swing up. Put your left hand right in front of her (his?) withers, and your right hand right on top of them. Then, back up right next to his head, and run, trying to use your momentum to swing yourself up and over his back, but not over the other side! After a while, you get it, and your be able to mount anything that you can reach it's mane! Good Luck. And Love your horse!
This is how I have always got on (after spending lots of time practicing on my VERY patient Haflinger), and I think I have perfected it. But when my friend asked me how I did it, I was just like. "Uh, you grab the mane, then swing up, and Boom! Your one". I don't know, I just do it!
Nice try! I bet you'll get it next time! P.s do u want to borrow my horse he's a Morgan but he stays still no matter what u do to him! (Except point a gun at him!) I'll let u if you would like!
omg i wish i could do this....i found this very amusing though! hahah i love 3:16 when you just take a running leap at his back. he's very unphased by you too which is funny :P
its good you can laugh about it. Lol you'll get the hang of it. I haven't yet... lol. at least you horse is shorter. Lol my bot is tall and I can't get it down yet. I tried the "running leap"...basically it looked like i was running right into his side. I have no spring on a jump so I just kinda run into him. he's not too patient either. I almost had it one time and he walked off and I landed on my butt :P
you can deffinately do it! It is so easy, trust me. Your horse is shorter than you (lucky haha) but maybe try using a small stepping block to boost your feeling of "I GOT THIS!" Thats what I did and I got my swing up on my first try lol (I was so proud you dont even know! XD)
You pretty much have it down, just put your hips on the horse. Say to yourself "This is a peice of cake" and you can do it. Its really easy, but like I said, maybe try a block first?
Ok i Have to Help you, lol grab the mane in the middle of his neck with your left hand and with your right in the place your grabbing now and use your arms and leg, its also a mental thing. if you imagine your going to make it u will find its much easier!! have fun ;)
I'm searching youtube trying to figure this out. Nice to see I'm not the only one who looks like that! Great sense of humor. I'll keep trying too!! Keep at it!
don`t worry,it took me a year to get down mounting bareback any way!haha. If i tried to swing up onto Charmer he would bolt.haha,he is 12 and I tried to get a running start yesterday and he bolted!yet I can do it on a 3year old filly who is barely broke!
he kinda looks like my tennessee walker buttercup. shes like 14.3 hands and i still cant jump up on her, its kinda pathetic watchingme try to though lol
That was so cute! I love the written commentary! Such a good haffie. You are really really close, you just have to get that leg to hook on so you can pull yourself up the rest of the way. Don't worry about getting all the way over, just try to get a good grip with your hand and leg so you can pull yourself up and over.
Hilarious! What our poor Haflingers have to put up with. Had a try the other week and ended up stiff and sore the next day so will wait til after our big show next week to try again (and I'll video it next time too so you can all laugh at me aswell)

Once you get your leg up and over then use your upper body and arms to push your self up. It took me forever to get it down.
