@Reddirtgirl55Again R.I.P. RedDirtGirl's Daddy. My Dad passed last June and the Hank Williams CDs were played over and over again in the funeral parlour, mostly because my sister and mother didn't know how to change it. I didn't bother trying to find out because *I* didn't want the CD changed!
@ladiesmanmatt Yeah, your right, but look at all the new gas wells and all the land clearing their doing now, it ain't helping our next southern generation.
@OutdoorsMan1775 I agree, Thats why we need to be concise about whats going on around us and try and reverse this trend. I pray that God will bless our Southern nation and let our culture thrive again.
Hank Williams Sr. brings back memories for me of sitting around with friends having a few beers at the end of a long work week and listening to Hank Williams Sr. records. Some of my friends are deceased now, but what I wouldn't do for another one of those days. Thanks Hank!
The voice is americana captured in shellac. It is reassuring to know that you can always find something like this to listen to when all the commecialized bull gets on your nerves.Wonder how many of todays so called STARS could do with just an old RCA ribbon mic and a mono ampex 300?Not too good i would suspect !!!
@wildbillcomo Nobody should ever get set on fire. You ever been set on fire? It is without a doubt the most painful thing imaginable. S'why hell is made out to be flames.
@BFMV108 Thats cool shit bro im really startin to see alot of the younger generation startin to litsen to real music and not that shit they play on the radio these days
Just last week, my grandpa and I were singing Hank Williams songs. He's been having some troubles with his anger and his memory recently, but I had a few of ol Hank's songs on my phone, and we started singing some of his songs, and my grandma said it reminded her of when they were dating in the 50s! He said he was suprised a 15 year old knew who Hank was! And we sang some Waylon too (:
This is fine and congratulations to Hank for writing this, but Johnny Burnette's version is much better. Burnette's up tempo singing of this one gives the song more of a sense of a woods on fire, than old Hank's warbling.
STILL LOVE TAKEN A BREAK FROM TO-DAYS MUSIC AND LISTENIN' TO A GOOD OLD BOY'S TUNES ! LOVE IT ! ....YOU BE DAFFY AND I'LL BE DILLY.....THANKS FOR POSTING..KCKILLERCAT A.K.A. SILLY FILLY !

the band Two Gallants did a cover of this song a few years back, it was amazing, and made hank williams join johnny cash as the only country i can actually stand/
You clap hands and I'll start bowin' - we'll do all the laws allowin' - tomorrow I'll be right back plowin'! Hank Sr. was a lyrical madman! AWESOME don't even touch him!!
@firehawkbandit93 The story I heard is that he wrote Kaliga on a beer run. He was kinda tight, there was a wooden Indian statue at the country store. Said he tapped out the rhythm on the dash board. If a person has one drop of respect for song writing they will recognize fast he was that great.
@kevinocooldaddy although he drank a lot, hank didn't die from drinking...he died of a morphine overdose administered by his doctor(who travelled with the band). Hank was in constant pain because he was born with spina bifida occulta, therefore needed those drugs for the pain, but as with anyone who has access to it all and noone who will say "NO" he eventually mixed the two to an extreme that burst his heart muscle...therefore official cod...heart failure
Have to agree with most of the comments - this is Country music in its purest form and I Love it! For me it's about how a song makes you feel - and listening to this makes me very, very happy! Modern artists (with one or two exceptions) just don't make me feel this way. Auld Country wins every time - these artists done it for the love and the passion. It seems todays artists do it for the love of money and the passion that can buy! I'm settin' the woods on fire - yeah!
Woo! Awesome song. I think this might be my favorite Hank Williams song next to Kaw-Liga. I also enjoy Move It On Over. This is 100% Country. I wish just ONE modern day singer could do something like this, just to prove they are country. I sure would if I was a country artist.
@paleboy1231 at that point in time all i could imagine is the "fireplace poker" -a metal rod for use in the manipulation of burning logs into best position while burning. But i could be wrong...explain your idea. No tellin' what Hank had in mind. I'd love to hear it. Couldn't be some part of anatomy? Do tell...
