They have VERY good knock offs of Devastator, Defensor, and Superion at alot of Big Lots stores. They are well made except for the fact the color scheme on Defoensor is off. Remember how Hot Spot was light blue, well now he's red, but I guess a blue fire truck didn't make much sense as cool as it was!
There was another toy back then, it was an autobot, and it was made by multiple autobots, like Devastator. They where sold in stores the same season. What was it called?
@kalambalikis Were they all planes or emergency vehicles? The former are the Aerialbots who turn into Superion and the latter are the Protectobots which form Defensor.
The KO knock off Gen 1 Transformers are perfect copies. I have Devastator, Wheeljack, Mirage, Sunstreaker and Cliffjumper. Youd never know the difference from the originals. Except that the spelling on the box art is atrocious.
I wonder if anyone can help? About ten years ago this line of transformer-like toys were released and i cant remember what they were called! They weren't transformers, kinda like a spinoff thing. The only thing i remember is they came in packs of 5 which were the teams. You transformed each of the vehicles in each set, stuck them together and they combined to make one robot. Does anyone here know them and remember what they were called? Defo released in UK, not sure in USA...:P
@ColinoDeani....Ah unfortunately no. All the sub-robots were cars or helicopters and they were each about 1.5 inches long. They were only fairly small toys. :P
These were too pricey for my parents. So my brother and me had to share the collection. It took us all Summer to collect the set. We were finally able to assemble the giant robot and our sister broke it. We were so pissed.
im one of those kids who wants to complete them but they were too expensve to be bought by parents.... and now that i have a job, they are way MORE expensve than back then
never cared for the combining robot liines even when they first came out. look how many add-ons devestator needs to combine. half the stuff has no relation to the vehicle modes at all. personally i thought he looked like my gobots fell into the storage bin for my gi joe weapons bin and they got tangled up into a ugly mess.
He was trying to make him look like a monster, not a humanoid. Added to his enormous size, it makes him much more intimidating then G1 Devs. As for your immature homophobic pun,.... Well, continuing that sentence would be redundant.
yeah and I like the concept of using metal as bones for robots (chogokin line) but c`mon! I like the outer shell to have metal too...stainless steel...or platinum ^_^

What I would do to live the 80's over again.Great toys made with pride and high standards in Japan; that had die-cast parts, good strong high plastics. Not like today with this cheap Chinese made junk crappy plastic remakes.(nothing against Chinese people just product dislikes)
I loved transformers back then it was just :Bring down legs, rotate waist ,pull down arms, flip up head and DONE now its :splt apart legs, rotate waist flip down feet roatate arm pannels twist arm, push back tires, form the legs and UGGGHHH som much stuff 80`s will always Rule (even though i was born in 1999 hehehe)
For an 80s toy he looks cool. But compared to todays things 80s was a waste of plastic. Transformations were simple and got boring after a while and they had very little articulation. Which is why Fortress Maximus' articulation was pretty advanced for a G1 toy.
@TFDude101 Yeah, I agree. That is why I do like the Transformers Classics versions because they have the same paint scheme as the G1 figures, but they have more posability.
i licke the energon repaints buth the g1 toys are the best lucking i want the g1 constructicons so bad buth i know i will never geath theme beacus i dont want to bay knockoff figures and the originals is so expensive
Sweet! I STILL have Devastator to this very day! Kinda hard to get him into that Big robot mode, though. I became easier with later Combiner models, like The Protectobots or Stuntocons.
DID YOU SERIOUSLY HAVE TO BUY ALL 6 TRANSFORMERS SEPARATELY?!! if so, then I bet TF G1 collectors are ripping their hair out trying to find a complete set of constructicons.
@birca04 they did sell a boxed set of all 6, but the stores in my area didn't have them at the time.
Separately I remember they were over $6.00 apiece, but I got them all. Today I have maybe 3 constructicons remaining around somewhere, and none of the Devastator accessory pieces. Those little pieces are easy to lose.
I remember wanting to buy the whole constructicon set from this costco like store, I mean I was four or five at the time. Anyway it came with every decepticon to form the large one.
these were the best i remember a friend of mine had one that transformed into a working cassette walkman loland for all those who grew up with these who remembers the GO-BOTS lmao oldschool.
@ravenindigo For some people its nostalgic and they want to see them again. Maybe not your thing but for some of us who grew up with g1 transformers we appreciate it.
You'd think since they're advertising something that was new and innovative like these were at the time, that they'd do it right. Pause at 26/27 secs. Mixmaster is transformed incorrectly.
i got the gift set as a kid. was super cool to play with even if once it got to robot mode it could fall apart easily. jsut the fact that it could make a giant robot was revolutionary!!!!
@BlackAce1229 I agree, but only if they did them accurately in both modes and the colour schemes were correct. They're heading in the right direction with the G1 Seeker Jets in the Generations/Classics line.
Man, these old commercials are so funny to me now. Back then, the idea of having those huge combiner robots; Transformers/Voltron, in our small child hands was so coveted! lol They were so physically huge and heavy in our hands. And now we're all adults and these same toys are what we continue to covet! Haha.
Megatrons voice sounds odd, i got 5 of the green constructicons for free, and paid $25 for a non broken Hook. Damn Devastator falls apart at the slightest breeze, also have Actionmaster Devastator, all non combining G1.5 yellows, paid $350 for loose in package of the Orange G2 s and have 1 yellow g2 longhaul. Still dont have any french constructicons. Also got some decoys recently.
I went to a local Walgreen one day in 2007, and I seen all these guys in a six pack for seven dollars. thing is, it was a Knock of. I could tell by the box art that it was a very generation 1 robot. no where on the box it said it was a transformer, I just got it because I like combining robots. when i found out it was a devastator knock off, besides the box, the only thing different about it was the stickers, and maybe the quality of the plastic. it still has it's Green and purple coloring.
I had this thing, the problem with it was that it was so fragile it fell apart way too easily. I lost all of them except mixmaster which I still have.
It's interesting to compare the US version with the original Japanese Diaclone Construction Robo commercial found here. Do a search for plasticfetish he has a lot of the old Japanese Diaclone commercials up.
there were so many awesome transformers, but this was my favorite! i just had these out today, letting my 3 year old nephew play with them...25 years later!!!!!!!!! i really want to start collecting all the cool toys i had in the 80's (TONS)...
Yeah, I still have Devastator along with Superion and whatever the name of the big guy the Protectobots formed. I broke two of my constructicons tryin' to build Devastator back in the day and had to buy replacements! I still have not taken them apart in over 20 years!
In Yu Gi Oh!, When you get all five pieces of Exodia, you win the game. When you get all the pieces of Devastator, you win every game for the rest of your life.
Hahaha, I remember Devastator, still have that piece of crap, It's so true, once you had him together he was useless! It would take you at least 15 to twenty minutes to put it together and the thing fell apart in seconds!
what sucked about the constructicon toys was individually they were smaller than most other Transformers. If they were normal size then Devastator would have been a real beast and not the same size as Ultra Magnus
