some of Rachmaninoff's most famous and pretty pieces are in the key of C sharp minor/ e major. Such as this piece, his prelude in c sharp, and vocalize. the melody in the left hand, can be based off of Chopin's etude in c sharp minor (what a coincidence), so sincere and romantic, that goes through modulations. I prefer both version's, to be honest, and i must say, for learning it for 5 days, berezoskyk does an excellent job playing this, bravo
This is one of Rachmaninoff's most beautiful works. There are actually two version of it. The version played here is the more ornamental and more rarely performed of the two.
I recommend listening to the other version as some people might find more beauty it simplicity (simplicity is a relative term when it comes to Rachmaninoff.)
Yes, the version he is playing is the revised edition, 1940. The simpler version is the original version in 1892. I personally prefer the original version for its simplicity, yes :D I believe this revised edition is rather over-ornamented for such a beautiful and simple melody.
Nobody's perfect at rachmaninoff, but this is pretty damn close.

Haha, 3:04-5 is the only error you'll ever hear him make in all of these videos, so savor his humanity for that brief moment.
