A few years ago I had a treat in life-one of many courtesy of the Moodies. I was with my daughter at a Moodies concert and Justin picked up his old guitar, sat on a stool and played this song, just for me. I had tears streaming down my face. My daughter was brought up on this music, and I suspect her children will be as well. Part of the soundtrack of my life, and hers as well.
Justin still has it!! He is still the most beautiful and gentle soul as he ever was and what a truly gifted and gorgeous man!! His voice is just beautiful!! It just reaches deep into the depth of your soul!! Oh how I love him!! Pure beauty in every sense!! ILY Justin!! ♥♥
Great song/performance from a great band--- a must have Moody LP! -- From all the comments from all the Moody videos on youtube it is obvious that so many millions appreciate the impact tthis group has had on their lives-- They are truly special -- I knew that at the time-- Thanks for the video!!
I still can't believe I was at this concert when I was six years old. And still even crazier is that I MET Justin after the concert. I still have the concert ticket he autographed for me that night!
My two favorite bands will always be The Beatles and The Moody Blues.. No need to compare... But what an injustice that the Moodies are still not inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame ~
I am curious about the banter regarding the Moodies and the Beatles. Let's just give each band their due. The Beatles undoubtedly altered the course of rock. But the Moodies as well as their peers such as Zep, The Kinks and The Who all influenced the course of rock as well. In fact, the Moodies, Pinder in particular, turned the Beatles on to the use of the Mellotron (Strawberry Fields for example).
I was fortunate to get to see Justin's solo performance at the Supper Club in Manhattan. I have to say, the New York crowd was much more lively and on top of that, we knew all the lyrics and sang with him a good portion of the time. And we sounded good too. Too bad that particular night was not recorded.
check the songwriting credits on most of the Moody Blues biggest hits. Except for "I'm Just a Singer in a rock and roll Band", Hayward wrote all the rest.
When the Moodies sang this in concert a few years back, I had tears in my eyes.. You see, this has always been one of my favourites, and to have the opportunity to actually see them sing it, it meant a great deal to me. Sincere thanks
This song is just one of the reasons that people LOVE Justin Hayward(& the Moodies,of course!) What a talent!! I believe that decades from now people will still be enthralled by this one song, great art is always timeless...,
Why would Justin speak with a Brummie accent? He was born and bred in the west country--Swindon to be exact. It was only the rest of group that was from Birmingham.
Who would like to support me to get The Moody Blues, i.c. Justin Hayward honoured by a NOBEL MUSIC PRIZE in 2009?? If support for my initiative is substantial, I'd like to spend quite some hours to realize that dream. I think they deserve such an honour because of their top class music for decades and more than one generation.
I remember the Moodys since 68 when they would do their shit on national tv. You slags think you know what mtv is? No. You do not. You were still stil sucking on nipples when vids became has beens. 1980-81. Everyone thought MTV broke the glass ib music vids. Martha Quinn may have been cute and doable and all that, but MTV and Martha are not music pioneers. Both are coat tail riders.
This is my all time favourite Moodies song. When I discovered them in the fall of 1982, I played this song to death. So many memories come flooding back. I can still smell the interior of my first car when I hear this song.
my time didn't go anywhere..it's still in my clock ticking away...but I have changed and the clock doesn't care...man, "isn't life strange?"...so i don't understand your question ??...just joking.
My buddy (songdogmi) and I have played this song for what?... about a quarter of a century now! This is an unbelievably good song. I remember the first day I heard it... and I picked up the needle (phonograph) and repeated it over and over again.
On a Rockline radio interview a couple of months ago Justin said he does use YouTube to research music by other artists, but felt it would be "pointless" to view Moody clips, so you're right KevyRae, he probably will never see these posts. His bandmate John Lodge, however, says that he gets a kick out of seeing old Moody Blues clips on YouTube -- that sometimes he sees clips of performances he can't remember them doing!
If Justin actually does read this, which I doubt he does, you're totally freaking him out! I met Justin about 10 years ago.. He's very hunmble and appreciative of his fans... You, however, would frighten him!

Have you ever seen Justin or the band live? I have twice here in the US, and both times they played The Actor. It is a beautiful song and they do it very well live.
So, you're going in October? Possibly near Justin's birthday, the 14th? :-)
Some words of a German: great music. I love the Moodies/Justin-songs since 1969, the LP "TOCCC". A fantastic album. I miss Mike Pinder, too, since many years. Ray Thomas, a good singer, but not a good flute-player. Norda Mullen is much better. I'm waiting of a new CD after STRANGE TIMES from 1999/2000, except "DECEMBER" from 2003. Bye, from Michael
I thank you Justin, John, Ray, and Mike and others for the 35 years of pleasure you have brought to my life...I love your music and have been a devotae since "NIGHTS IN WHITE SATIN" (1969)Your music has always been an inspiration to my life, and to millions you will always be more then "JUST A SINGER IN A ROCK'N ROLL BAND" (1970's)
I LOVE 'BLUE JAYS!
I remember tripping to this song and seeing 'colored rain'
I actually HEARD them...I didn't SEE them perform "The Actor" together. It can be found on KBCO Studio C Volume 5. You'll have to do a little Internet research to find it. It was given as a gift to me years ago, so I can't really advise you much further than that. It is a compilation CD of many artists who have performed in this radio studio, and John and Justin just happen to be part of the compilation. But it is a great version of them performing "The Actor".
I was fortunate to be in the audience at this San Juan Capistrano show with Justin Hayward. It was a great gig! "The Actor" in particular, always plays well. I once heard Justin and John Lodge play "The Actor" simply on two acoustic guitars and it was beautiful. The song is timeless...:-)
I love these classic MB songs, they bring me back to a magical part of my life. They are timeless in their beauty and shall live on long after we've gone...

I was there! LIVE! The best concert that I have ever been to... Next lifetime, I want to be Justin... He so great! Thanks to Joe for teaching me this song back in '79.
