I noticed at the christmas spectacular(with the real rockettes) that they really don't do a lot of tap like I always thought they did. There is a lot of ballet, and the "formation dancing" with some old style jazz....and here I always thought to be a rockette meant to pound out those time steps.

Where was this intensive held? I know they do one at my old college, Point Park since so many graduates went on to be Rockettes.

for those who just don't get it...this is NOT THE Rockettes! It's a training camp for kids who like to dance, and think they might have a future in something like the Rockettes. Look at how young they are! And they are taught either by the Rockettes or the Trainers/Coaches/Choreographer­s FROM the Rockettes...hence the tentativeness and feel of a rehearsal...this is little more than a dance recital!

UMMM the show is called Radio City Christmas Spectacular. and then they are showcasing their talents as dancers and since they kinda are known 4 their high kicks they show their legs cause it showcases them better. I thought that was obvious

There's a song in the background and it's kind of raw, so I would say yes it sounds like they are singing. (or at least if it's a playback it is in the presentation for sure) but I'm not too skeptical about I believe they are singing.

they sing from 0:20 to 1:50 and the rest is instrumental.

I'm thinking about trying out for the rockettes when I graduate from college in a few years, I'm considering the intensive for next summer, but I don't really want to be the oldest one there. I'll be 20. What is the age range at the intensive, and would it be worth it?

I would strongly recommend the intensive if you want to audition for the Rockettes as the technique is so specialized. During the week I did participated in the ages ranged from 14-28, so I wouldn't worry about being the oldest one there.

Actually you have to be at least 18 and i think the age range is about 18 - 25

No unfortunately the majority do not make it. Last year, over 500 women tried out for the NY roles, and 3 made it. Spots have to open up before they can accept newcomers.

i really want to go to new york to do this but 1. i live in Hawaii 2. I'm only 5'2 and there is no chance i will ever be 5'6 and able to be a rockette. Is it worth it?

You should definately give it a try. You don't have to be 5'6 to do the summer intensive. I think it's worth the experience even if you can't become a real rockette.

ah fun! i did the 2006 intensive in nyc. it was amazing. i did model, rag dolls, and the soldiers dance. it was such an amazing experience.

yes we had to wear tights that matched our skin color, a solid black leotard (no sparkles or glitter), tan character shoes, and tan character tap shoes

I did the intensive in NYC in both 2006 and 2007. In 2007 I did reindeer and soilder but I did a dif. tap dance. This summer intensive has to be one of the best experiences ever. I had a blast and am going back for a third year!
