The black,and white photo was taken during WW2 there was a freight train load of BMW's W/sidecars on a bomb out rail siding. My Uncle George was a Ranger atached to Patton's 3RD Army. When found they were factory fresh,after 3 days of riding them around,Patton heard they were useing hisTank gas for fun,and ordered them destroyed. My Uncle said the bitch of it was they then had to walk 270 klicks. He said we fit 5 guy on those bikes,sure would have been nice to ride,then take the leather express!

I understand that all of these cars, some super rare, some more common, are in terrible shape and left alone to rot, but its important to note that to get some of these cars restored requires a huge amount of money and that probability that the parts still exist.

@Thefallenraptor Gullwing will and can fetch a 500-800K easily, and 300SL have been sold for this price. 200k is underpriced. Again depends what kind of condition the car is and if all the parts are original. This car is more expensive then latest Mercedes Benz SLS AMG which is said to be the grandson of SL300. SLS AMG costs 200k US. So even if it costs you 100k to restore this masterpiece it stil will pay off greatly.

There's this guy that died in early 90's that had literally 5-10 old Americans from 60's and 70's. Her wife owned the house which is a huge farm and visited there like once a year, for like what.. 20 years? And the perfect conditioned cars just rotted outside in the rain and snow masses. Until now she died just like few years ago and all the cars have been taken away to somewhere, probably crushed as they were in quite terrible condition after it.

Such a sad ending to such a great machines.
