I"ve had my pocket hunter now for a couple weeks and I have to say AWESOME, I only have two old Fred Bear 2216 aluminum arrows right now, I shortened them to match the draw length and Iike I said Awesome, any idea the poundage on the black bands, I'm guessing 30-35 lbs maybe. Excellent work by your Dad, tell him Thank You for me.

Ordered the pocket hunter a few weeks back, tried it out with some Wal-Mart arrows, and I LOVE it! I ordered the 3 piece PH arrows and they came in today along with the pathfinder shelter kit. Tried out the 3 piece arrows, and I LOVE them..This is a great set up Dave. With only 25-30 shots, I am accurate enough to take down a rabbit at 20 yards. My ONLY complaint: $26.60 for shipping on 3 arrows and shelter kit? THAT was outrageous Dave. We need to work on that Bro. Pkg weighed less than 3 lbs..

How many feet per second does it shoot? Looks slow to me. Will it kill a fish 1 foot under the water? Make a video of how it works and hunting and fishing with it. Im a youth hunter/ survival enthusiast. With my friends, we make a lot of hunting and survival objects thanks to your videos. I built a sapling crossbow on my own with just a pocket knife, but it has some problems. The limbs at the top aren't that great, as they dont pack much power and they also dont bend properly. Could you please make a video on how to make a crossbow? ( I know there already is one about an improvised crossbow, but one made of saplings.)

great idea dave. i just cant get it to work. when you spool your line on the "reel" everything is fine until you actually try to fire the arrow. the line does not unroll off the spool it hangs up and the force of the arrow rips the reel right off of the front of the slingshot. seems like the earlier model pvc reels you were making might work better. would love to see a video of you actually shooting this with bankline or dropline

@dogbone222 Most projectile weapons here are heavily controlled, funny thing is it is easier to get a gun here than a crossbow. But it really depends on the state, I am from NSW and braced slingshots are illegal here mainly because it's concealable and deadly.

KE = 1/2 * m * v ^ 2

Where m is the mass of the arrow and v is the velocity of the arrow in flight.

i would rethink the reel/storage bottle so you don't have the lid off to use it as a reel or stick it in the arrow holder. Maybe make a lid the screws on with either side.

Just a design suggestion. It would be even more useful to have say a wing-nut or similar for quick bolting. Plus it would be even better if you could actually attach it to say one of the arm bar supports, out of the way, so you could always have it with the sling shot while using it normally.

....Plus a compass, fish-scaler, and rocket propelled arrows with exploding tips ! :) !

Kidding about the last part, but the first suggestions could be doable.

Just a little life extender tip. Spearfishermen use the same bands for low caliber spearguns. Whether amber(high power) or black bands which last longer. You can store them in the freezer during off season and they will keep from becoming brittle. When you have up to 3 20$ bands on your gun it will help you save some $ and be ready when you need it.

This is really slick Dave !!. I have seen slingshots set up for shooting arrows or darts going back to the 1950's. I seen various versions of adapting a slingshot to shoot fish and to hold fish-line.
