until this week i had never heared of Dick Gaughan, and initially when i did, i struggled to understand the dialect... but my god, i love his hard punching lyrics , no messing.. straight to the point and very honest... brilliant :-) it doesn't matter who actually wrote the song, Dick is definately the right messenger for the job :-)

Yes of course you're correct. And Dick, never fails to acknowledge McNeill when I've seen him perform this song live.

It's just that Dick doesn't simply perform a song, he "inhabits" it, and one so readily believes the convictions of the words are his own!

Can't imagine Dick doing songs he couldn't truly embrace.
