  • being a viet nam vet--I LOVE THIS AND YES, REMEMBER

  • I turned 18 in 1969 ...man that song makes my eyes bloodshot just to hear it :>)-

  • Thats how it was then, dude. Put it in historical context and don't worry about it.

  • did anybody there really believed they were playing???

  • Love this song...xx00xx

  • anybody interested in the springfield, read the book HOTEL CALIFORNIA. its is about what was going on in the LA/laurel canyon scene during the 60's and 70's. it has crosby, stills, nash, and young, the eagles, the buffalo, the hollies, and others. it is a very interesting read.......please check it out. i cant think of the author off hand but if you will check out barnes &nobles's website and look up hotel california, you should have no problem finding it.

  • There's also a book called 'Laurel Canyon' by Michael Walker that covers the canyon from the mid-60's up until the late 80's or early 90's.... I haven't read 'Hotel California' but if you can't find it check out this one.

  • Thanks this is a great song :)

  • This is better than gold! Thanks for posting this!

  • in this band they put the drummer up front and the vocals in the back

  • i'm only 19 and this is the only music i listen to , from the 60's and 70's

  • Good for you. I do the same way, but I'm a little older than you. I'm 28... I think this is the best music.

  • I'm 14 and i love this kind of music.

  • Fantastic!

  • Great song. They were hip and happening.

  • What a song, what a hit. The lyrics defeat time itself as this song could be applied to the events of yesterday, today, and tomorrow. The entire world needs to hear this song and fully understand this.

    God, Bless America.

  • Your comment struck me as a deep and logical one, a comment that I felt was true and admirable.

But once I saw "God, Bless America" most of the feelings I had towards your comment were erased and all credibility for your words were lost.

  • God Bless America

    Yeah

  • "The entire world needs to hear this song"

And then you go and say "God, Bless America"

It's not that you believe in a complete fabrication, but the fact that even as someone who does believe in 'god,' you only say bless America, instead of the entire world.

That's pretty selfish if you ask me, yet you think the entire world should hear this song?

How about "God bless the world"

  • Do you have a problem with America or God?

    Both probably.

  • i cant believe young is only 22 in this. and stills looks so nervous. imagane he was at woodstock only 2 yrs later n look way more confident!

  • No SHIT.

  • Sorry I'm a lot youngerAND TO RECONISE NEIL YOUNG IS GREAT. COS i'M FROM Scotland'and no cunts have even heard of him

  • That looks like Neil Young

  • me dieron ganas de ver lord of war otra vez

  • they obviously recorded it in thefirst place so who cares if this particular time it is mimed this is 1960's tv and probably more than one band played that night som setting up their own equipment to play live on tv is just not practical.its the same reason top of the pops was mimed all the time its because its live and lots of bands using the same stage

  • lord of war has the best intro..this one:P

  • this is truely a great song..it was made after nixon had those unarmed students shot when they were protesting..what a wonderful president XD

  • Agreed, but name a good one.

  • nice

  • awesomerifical song

  • forrest gump

  • Tropic Thunder

  • Lord of war

  • This is music.

  • no bruce palmer on bass, is that jim fielder?

  • good song 4 la

  • it took me a while to see it is just a show and not an actual performance. they made it convincing at first

  • haha neil young, what a legend!

  • i like this song

  • the version of the band of joy is so much better! Although I love the original!

  • They're goofing around with it, but all of these shows from this era were lipsynced. I love watching these old videos but it is kind of ruined by being fake. Maybe we should start cutting Brittany and Ashlee some slack.

  • u r 100%right. for a lot of acts to sing live the studio woyuld need setting up for hours ok if only one person is performing but normally tv shows have several people on it or groups whatever so acctually doing it live on tv is not possible like britney on x factor for example...not possible on live tv

  • Is that a fedora tha neil young's wearing? Coolest hat of all time.

  • run Forest... ruuun!.. what a great song. I should've born in the 60s cause the music!

  • i love this song

  • I don't think it's live...

  • nah its not

  • this sounds too perfect and way too close to the recorded version. Are they playing live?

  • Nope, it's all lipsynced. You can see Neil mess it up on purpose at the end :)

  • The instruments aren't plugged in to anything

  • the Music of this song was a combination of two songs written by Jerry Miller and Peter Lewis of Moby Grape, the lyrics are by Steven Stills

  • Amazing, amazing

  • It's great to see them goofing off, heheh.

  • ur mom goofs off!!!

  • Perhaps I should clarify that I meant that it was good to see them having a little fun while miming to the track, as opposed to countless other bands who make every effort to ensure that their "performance" appears real to the viewers.

  • One of the great "what ifs" in rock history. What if this band had stayed together... On the other hand that would mean a world without CSN or CSNY, Neil's solo career and, of course, Poco. Maybe it's just as well they broke up.

  • lmfao look at Neil Young

  • this is the best protest song ever actually its probably the best song ever

  • One of the very best!

  • This is good song!

  • (the comment down this was a reply for Reboot1017)

Besides, great fun they had all together!!! Love to see them joking like kids!

  • jeff was so awesome to put this in the show "rock the world 1968" at the theatre =]

  • This is the studio version they lip sync to it for the tv show you can see how they make fun of it when neil young takes his hands of the guitar as the soo is still playing

  • most tv performances during this era were mimed..great song and sentiments just as appropriate if not more so todAY

  • das best lied ever !!!

  • It's amazing how much music changed, like looking at them, and the way they play (Not the sound, how their playing) is waaay different then now-a-days.

  • TERRIFFIC STUFF

  • dont matter how old you are, great music is great music.

  • isn't that the truth lol!

  • yeah, good music is timeless

  • ☮

  • man did drumers have it easy back then

  • ☮

  • wow, this is so depressing. i think im the only teen i know that likes this stuff. oldies kicks ass.

  • No you're not. :)

  • Yes. You're not alone. =)

  • ;) Yep.

  • nah man I'm 15 and I love this song

  • I was 15 in the 1986 when I heard this guys for the first time and I loved them. They were oldies stuff then, too!

  • Believe it! It only appears so!

  • Nah, you aint the only teen who loves this stuff.

  • I grew up listening to this music. Unless you lived at the time when Vietnam was the hot-button war that it finally because, it's hard to understand, why kids decide to really question what in the heck adults are doing!

Of course many groups sprang out of this group of musicians. Really, it was an exhilarating time to be alive in America.

No, I almost never listen to this music anymore now. Times have changed greatly since the 1960s believe me.

  • This was my favorite song when I was little.

I'd forgotten all about it until a few months ago.

  • oooohh i love this song...

its in the movie Lord of War

  • ggg.....love this song love you.......IGM

  • I was talking to the guy who thought this was Bruce Springsteen

  • My dad plays this song all the time; I LOVE OLDIES MUSIC. This song can get stuck in your head forever and it won't be annoying like some really pop cultural songs of today.

  • what a great shame neil never saw it through

  • this song was written about the riots on sunset blvd. in hollywood in 1966?? i was there, but can't remember the reason we were in the streets protesting b4 the cops smashed us up....something about pandora's box???..the nightclub there?? can't remember.

  • rofl go to 1:50 and watch the drummer! rofl!

  • is that singer with guitar Stephen stills?

  • yaaa

  • Well This song was the intro theme music track of LORD of WAR !

and i came searching it here through that movie !

    Heart touching Track :)

  • So many great artists with springfield in their name.

    Bruce Springfield

    Rick Springfield

    Buffalo Springfield

    Dusty Springfield

  • its bruce springstein lol not springfield

  • no its springfield...

  • wow, are you serious?

  • You mean Bruce SpringSTEEN

    You numpty!

  • Its a minor detail, the small things doesn't count:) People get the point.

  • Great song.. From the movie "Tropic Thunder" also..

  • Hmm ! Senti song !

    Vietnam war rocks !

I wonder a war can bring such gr8 song and lyrics :P

  • Did you really just say the Vietnam War rocks?

    You badass.

  • Hellow ! I suppose you aren`t getting me ! Please Read The Third Line ! I Hope You Will Get what m i trying to speak ! Give stress to following in my comment ! 1>Huh...Man Dosen`t the word "Senti" is understandable to you ? 2>Third Line 3>Emoticon :P No one can be too cheap to think so ! and join the communication classes ! Guys Like YOu give "Ielts" a notorious symbolification ! Cheap Thinking !
  • stop speaking in tounges and make some sense

  • I wonder how you can try to use big words but at the same time say things like hellow and...gr8...and dosen't

  • Maintaining contrast could be difficult !

  • "There's battle lines being drawn. Nobody's right if everybody's wrong."

    The political scene today.

  • I'll most-definitely agree with that.

  • down with the neocons!

  • It's even more relevent today.

  • prolly the greatest song ever!

  • Always reminds me of Lord of War

  • that's a shame

  • This song isn't about war. Its about a riot.

  • Sam ehere, great film!

  • ALWAYS REMINDS ME OF TROPIC THUNDER

  • for real! thats why i looked up the song to begin with, that movie was the funniest ive seen all year

  • That movie sucked balls haha

  • ya me 2!!...at the part when their in the helicopter!!!....nice!!! ;)

  • one of the best songs i've heard

  • Who's the cowboy on the left?

  • toocheap, the "cowboy" is Neil Young.

  • Thank you. BTW, I just bought all three of their albums!

  • Buffalo Springfield may not have lasted, however the last time I checked Neil Young and Stephen Stills were still around. Broken Arrow is an excellent tune, if you have never listened, you should.

  • Crosby, Stills, and Nash still play together. Neil Young does his own thing, but hes Neil Young so he can.

  • Always reminds me of Forest Gump.

    =]

  • I heard this song on the movie, "he got game"

  • wouldn't that be He Got Game by Public Enemy which samples this?

  • Buffalo Springfield were TRULY ahead of their time! (which; unfortunately, is also probably why they didn't last!)

  • I beg to differ. They were exactly on time. They would be on time today but we had them as hippies. Besides, if they were still around today then we wouldn't have had Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young.

  • I was around whem this song first came out. This song seems ageless. If only that was true for me also. Old people can still rock.Party On.

  • Sorry, I wanted to agree with +1, instead of -1!

  • NP and thanks.

  • This song seems ageless. If only that was true for me also. Old people can still rock.Party On.

Indeed, Neil is the best example for it,so we'll try to keep on rocking/dancing/living!

God bless (for once and with hope on changes) Obama and America! Think Neil will be happy today as so much of us around the world!

  • great tune! love it. thanks for posting it!

  • im bout to smoke some weed right now yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

  • yeah !! this song reflects old good 60's..

  • ta piosenka bardzo poprawia humor :D

  • i absolutely love this song

i also love how they're all quite clearly taking the piss out of lip syncage

neil actually eats a drum stick! haha

  • this question is driving me crazy so please reply. who wrote the lyrics.

  • The blonde singing, Stephen Stills, wrote it about the protest that took place on the Sunset Strip about the closing of Pandora's Box, a club that was a hot spot at the time.

  • Saw Crosby, Stills & Nash perform this song last night at Wolf Trap in Vienna, Virginia. Stephen Stills is just recovering from prostate cancer surgery - God bless the three of them still performing after 40 years. The words of this song pertain to today's events. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

  • This song's in Lord of War.

  • This tune really went with what was happening in those days remember them well. We had big balls in those days and we did change a few things with our crys for peace and sanity allot of us got our heads busted up also

  • young people speaking their minds

are getting so much resistance from behind...

    love that line

  • Today they would never put the drummer infront of the singer lol.

  • Anybody know what show this was from?? I'm hoping someone will post the "Mannix" TV show from 67 that had the Springfield playing as a bar band in one scene..I hope I'll be able to tell Mike Connors from Richie Furay...

  • remember texas !;)

  • Jimmy B - Sunday Television (Rough solo mix)

Search for it on YouTube. It's got the same vibe as Buffalo.

    Excellent!

  • i saw The Dark Knight yesterday.. and this song was used in the "Tropic Thunder" trailer... just some useless information for you to digest... peace

  • Buffalo Springfield was one of those bands in the '60s where TOO MUCH TALENT in one band made the whole thing implode. Three albums were released but really only two albums were recorded as a complete working unit. Even the 2nd record, "Buffalo Springfield Again," was recorded with all members pushing for their individual stamp on each song. Springfield couldn't last and neither could Cream. But what a lasting effect they left on us all! Amen!

  • Eh, why would people picket at a bar fight? x-D

Kidding, I dunno if what you say is true but who knows. Good song regardless.

  • cool

  • I like this song

  • real cool song my dad used to play this all the time

  • a personal favourite i want to share with someone..

    ;-}

  • Stephen Stills wrote this song in response to a riot he witnessed when a local bar was closed and some people could not get in. The lyrics, then, are not anti-war, but an account of Stills' impressions as he watched a bunch of punk drunks violently disturb the peace over trivia. These facts do not minimize the status of this classic song of the 1960's.

  • Nice anti-War Song ~Pe@ce

  • i love the fact that they give up on the whole lip-syncing chearade

  • great song, lord of war, mint film

  • oh yes!!

  • watched 'Lord of War' with nicolas cage, this was the first song as the film started, great film, great opening song!

  • i like during the solo when young took his hands off the guitar and it was still playing

  • Seems to be what we're all going through now.

  • Top Band.

  • im sorry i dont know anybody eccept neil young here, who is the blonde haired lead singer?

  • Stephen Stills

  • Well yourmybestfriend101, you've got Stephen Stills, the blonde on guitar and vocals. The dude with all the fringe would be Neil Young, the preppy looking guitarist in the back would be Ritchie Furray, the drummer (sporting an Angels hat none the less) would be Dewey Martin. Now the bass player to the far right is Jim Fielder who WAS NOT an actual member of the band but a fill in for bassist Bruce Palmer who was deported to Canada on a pot charge. Bruce came back June '67 but then Neil left!

  • oh thanks dude i wouldn't have known that!

  • This song was made well before my birth but its a classic!

  • I agree with you on always hearing the same songs....like they always play Born To Be Wild. Like there were only 5 or 6 songs that were written in the sixties......

  • as much as i love this song anytime theres anything to do with the 70's hippy or revolution this song pops up kinda sad how over the years and all these artists theres only a small majority of songs with a meaniniful message!!
