it takes a hell of a bad day for a snow day where i live. we have had days where more than half of the buses couldnt make it to school. either from getting stuck, going off the road (mine) or major accidents that close the high way (and there is no such thing as a detour here)
im from montreal and i remember growing up having to go to school after and during huge snow storms, while all the other school boards on the island had snow days, it sucked
When I was in Grade 5, I swear to God we went to school for about a week in March, between March Break and what must have been ten snow days. That was a good month!
I can't believe there hasn't bee a snow day in Toronto since 1999!
i'm about an hour away from toronto, and i've probably had about half a dozen snow days in my life, and they are definitely the BEST days in the world!!!
I live in San Diego but before I lived in California I lived in New Jersey. And let me tell you, when ever it would snow (as rare as it was) school would be for sure cancelled. But I guess Ontario is just a but more prepared for snow than we are down here.

had a total of two snow days myself. SW Ontario; one in elementary, five feet of snow overnight. Another in College, expecting four feet, got eighteen inches.
@ihicrack i live in midwestern ontario and when i was in highschool i had 2-21/2 weeks worth of snow days. that was just in high school. and that was also just for one school. in total, ive probably got 2 months worth of snow days in all of highschool. SNOW DAYS ARE AWESOME!!! :P
I grew up mostly in a small town where the school functioned on kids getting bused into school with 15 large school buses, if the buses weren't running it was a snow day, that would be the only time I truly hoped for -30*C or lower :)
I don't get Snow Days where I live, and there have been days where it's snowed 3-4 feet overnight or more, and there's still a snowstorm going on during school. Basically, if the snow was blocking the doors to our school, we'd pretty much have to shovel our way into the building.
I've had one more Snow Day in college than i had in my whole public school life. The schools were always open in York Region, even though no one came. Heck! I had to walk across campus in a blizzard for an exam the one year I went to U Ottawa. But i remember from this BIIIIIIIG snow storm that never came, the classes were canceled :D
coming from the Maritimes.. I find it amusing that a lot of Canadians have never experienced a snow day!?!?!
This winter in PEI had a a few weeks that had 1 or 2 snow days each.. we were constantly pounded by Nor'Easters and under mountains of snow with no where to put it.. and I can remember when I was in middle school we missed an entire week of exams because we were hit by "White Juan" which put all of PEI and most of Nova Scotia into a state of emergency.. it was awesome ! ahaha
Theres no way they'd stop snow days in the Maritimes. Mind you, with this winter it'd be impossible. I loved them, some of the best times,I remember trudging through buried streets and sidewalks in the freezing cold and wind just to hang out with others who also are enjoying the snow day off! Its as Canadian as hockey playing, beer drinking beavers skating on a pond of maple syrup
i grew up in Nova Scotia, they liked to cancel school for just about any reason fathomable. oh? you say 5cm of snow? CANCELLED !! oh so you say police are doing a drug bust 3 blocks away? CANCELLED !! ahh cole harbour high lol
I had snow days as a kid and I always spent part of them outside having fun. I went for a 2 hour walk on the one snow day we had this year and didn't see a single kid out playing. i think t the only change about snow days is that the kids don't go out and play but rather stay inside and play video games.
I'm one of those-snow-day-deprived kids. Last year, no joke it was -40 degrees Celsius and there was wind, and one of the doors to our school was completely snowed in, and there was still school. About 7 kids in my 8th grade class of 100 were ther that day,and it probly cost the school a fortune on sub costs but no, the school was still open.
I'm from van city baby no snow days cuz there's no need aha. But all you guys are unbelievably tough, I just got back from red deer (-31) and I wouldn't survive
I'm from Winnipeg and ever one else doesn't experience the cold like we do, I've never had a snow day. You other people are wimps, grow a pair of balls
I live in a suburb of Ottawa and we get 2-4 snowdays per year. Really sucks this year though because we've had 2 but one was during a day off I had after my exams so I basically got a snow day stolen. I was pissed, but my 8 yr. old brother was ecstatic
In southern Ontario my school had 20 snow days in one year. In one week during february 2007 we had 4 snow days and only one day of school. Roads during a storm here are insane during snowstorms especially if there is wind because the ground is flat and open. People in the suburbs need to stop bitching because one snow day disrupts their schedule.
I've had only 1 snow day in my life, 12 years of school, and last year in edmonton, the first snow day ever. And to top it all off, I had to go the the U for a field trip so it was only a half a snow day.
And I've lived in Minny before too, you'd figure there'd be more snow days.
I live in Winnipeg Manitoba and I have NEVER had a snow day! I have walked to school when no busses were running and my mom could not get her car started in

Some of my best memories were on snowdays/fog days. Sometimes I would find a ride into my school, and sit in the cafeteria all day gossiping with the few others who'd come in as well. On occasion we got free food, other times we'd leave campus and wander through town.

I'm from the Vancouver area so it barely snows at all, but I had a few snow days when I was in elementary and high school . Best feeling ever, waking up and hearing your neighbour shoveling his driveway and some bloke spinning his wheels at the bottom of the street and knowing you can just build snowmen and drink cocoa all day! :)

East coast of Canada, we live for the snow days! All the storms we got this year, I'm surprised there hasn't been more snow days actually.

I wanted snow days when I was a kid. Curse my childhood in the 90's and early 00's.
I just noticed that I've never had a snow day in my life before...
