  • Snow day in newfoundland wooooooo

  • LOL

  • snow day, it should be put on a stamp

  • It really should be put on a stamp.

  • THANK YOU!

  • lose the laugh track..reaching for laughs aint that funny

  • @Mr420ways Its a video shown to a live audience.

  • @MrxSelfxDestruct oh no kiddin?, that explains it then!

  • it takes a hell of a bad day for a snow day where i live. we have had days where more than half of the buses couldnt make it to school. either from getting stuck, going off the road (mine) or major accidents that close the high way (and there is no such thing as a detour here)

  • im from montreal and i remember growing up having to go to school after and during huge snow storms, while all the other school boards on the island had snow days, it sucked

  • When I was in Grade 5, I swear to God we went to school for about a week in March, between March Break and what must have been ten snow days. That was a good month!

I can't believe there hasn't bee a snow day in Toronto since 1999!

  • There are never snowdays in Vancouver :(

  • Still no snow hope there's a big snow soon so snowday

  • 2 years ago my town went on strike and there were no snow plows for like 3 weeks so we were off school for a month :D

  • I went to school 6 hours north of Toronto. Snow days happened at least twice a year.

  • i'm about an hour away from toronto, and i've probably had about half a dozen snow days in my life, and they are definitely the BEST days in the world!!!

  • im 12 and whats a snowday??

  • @richard833 A day when school is closed because there's too much snow.

  • @emilyxmercer We don't get those in Canada.

  • @richard833 a day off school due to snow

  • From the manitoba government page

    snowfall in toronto: 133.1

    winnipeg 110.6

It's winterpeg not because of the snow but because it's so freaking cold. It's too cold for it to snow.

  • Im from Winnipeg and Ive never had a snow day in my life. Never heard of a snow day existing in the city. I guess were just good at handling cold :P

  • I live in San Diego but before I lived in California I lived in New Jersey. And let me tell you, when ever it would snow (as rare as it was) school would be for sure cancelled. But I guess Ontario is just a but more prepared for snow than we are down here.

  • had a total of two snow days myself. SW Ontario; one in elementary, five feet of snow overnight. Another in College, expecting four feet, got eighteen inches.

  • @ihicrack i live in midwestern ontario and when i was in highschool i had 2-21/2 weeks worth of snow days. that was just in high school. and that was also just for one school. in total, ive probably got 2 months worth of snow days in all of highschool. SNOW DAYS ARE AWESOME!!! :P

  • i live in winterpeg manisnowba and in 11 years of schooling i have NEVER had a snow day so far...

  • I grew up mostly in a small town where the school functioned on kids getting bused into school with 15 large school buses, if the buses weren't running it was a snow day, that would be the only time I truly hoped for -30*C or lower :)

  • I don't get Snow Days where I live, and there have been days where it's snowed 3-4 feet overnight or more, and there's still a snowstorm going on during school. Basically, if the snow was blocking the doors to our school, we'd pretty much have to shovel our way into the building.

  • I've had one more Snow Day in college than i had in my whole public school life. The schools were always open in York Region, even though no one came. Heck! I had to walk across campus in a blizzard for an exam the one year I went to U Ottawa. But i remember from this BIIIIIIIG snow storm that never came, the classes were canceled :D

  • coming from the Maritimes.. I find it amusing that a lot of Canadians have never experienced a snow day!?!?!

This winter in PEI had a a few weeks that had 1 or 2 snow days each.. we were constantly pounded by Nor'Easters and under mountains of snow with no where to put it.. and I can remember when I was in middle school we missed an entire week of exams because we were hit by "White Juan" which put all of PEI and most of Nova Scotia into a state of emergency.. it was awesome ! ahaha

  • i think at least on snow day would be nice. yeah not gonna happen in northern canada XD. its just "GET TO SCHOOL YOU LAZY KID"

  • I live in Edmonton and I have never in my life had a snow day...

Neither did my mom when she was younger...

  • Snow days... part of our heritage.

Though, I suppose one can make the argument that they're just important to kids of any nation where snow is capable of falling.

  • we dont get snow days very often... we've had to go around transports stuck in the snow in the middle of the highway before.

  • edmonton has never had a snow day will at least public school system

  • I'm from Montreal and our last snow day was on March 2008. But still we manage to hold those ped days on April and May.

  • boooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

  • Theres no way they'd stop snow days in the Maritimes. Mind you, with this winter it'd be impossible. I loved them, some of the best times,I remember trudging through buried streets and sidewalks in the freezing cold and wind just to hang out with others who also are enjoying the snow day off! Its as Canadian as hockey playing, beer drinking beavers skating on a pond of maple syrup

  • i grew up in Nova Scotia, they liked to cancel school for just about any reason fathomable. oh? you say 5cm of snow? CANCELLED !! oh so you say police are doing a drug bust 3 blocks away? CANCELLED !! ahh cole harbour high lol

  • Snow day today!!!!!!!!!

  • i never really had any snow days, maybe like 2-3 :( i had no childhood haha

  • I've never heard of a snow day until about 10 years ago.

Where I grew up it didn't matter how much snow we got the schools were only closed when it got really cold

  • Heh, my university is on the side of a mountain, so any time it snows, it's an automatic snow day. ^.^

  • Had a snow day in Trenton Ontario when I was 11, we were trapped in school for 2 days. Worst snow day(s) ever.

  • ......

.....@hanksnow82...hope you freeze your mouth off in a snowbank....you have no right to judge anyone in that way.....shame on you!

  • i have food poisoning today :(

  • lol ive had 2 snow days in my entire life. one 3yrs ago and the other a wk ago. I love snow days. proud to be canadian xD

  • Check out my videos (:

    Subscribe! :D

  • love it

  • Zzzzz...so when is the funny part?

  • @jcalikokat lole, you didnt find this funny, I feel sorry for you.

  • Rick just keep adding laugh tracks to thing in an alley and you will be funny

  • Amen.

  • I had snow days as a kid and I always spent part of them outside having fun. I went for a 2 hour walk on the one snow day we had this year and didn't see a single kid out playing. i think t the only change about snow days is that the kids don't go out and play but rather stay inside and play video games.

  • I'm one of those-snow-day-deprived kids. Last year, no joke it was -40 degrees Celsius and there was wind, and one of the doors to our school was completely snowed in, and there was still school. About 7 kids in my 8th grade class of 100 were ther that day,and it probly cost the school a fortune on sub costs but no, the school was still open.

  • There was no snow day at the University of Waterloo :(

I woke up expecting the University to have a snow day...

What I really woke up to was the realization that it hadn't closed and I had 10 to run to class.

Wilfrid Laurier University got a snow day...and they're on the same street...lucky bastards

  • @Nelmistro We got one in Guelph.

  • I remember more 'ice days' than 'snow days', but the effect was the same. Anyone else remember sliding around on a day off?

  • Comment removed

  • I'm from van city baby no snow days cuz there's no need aha. But all you guys are unbelievably tough, I just got back from red deer (-31) and I wouldn't survive

  • More then 15 cm in one day for day on end and school is never canceled

  • I live in the middle of BC in a city called prince george I have 7 foot pile of snow that covers my entire front yard and in days we get more then 15

  • @hotguytay11 That is because PG is prepared and most people drive sensible cars/trucks/tires. I've seen buses get stuck though.

  • 0:59 CREEPER CAR. RUN RICK RUN

  • I'm from Winnipeg and ever one else doesn't experience the cold like we do, I've never had a snow day. You other people are wimps, grow a pair of balls

  • @90nikefootball Yes SNOW balls! :P

  • genius!

  • I'm from northwestern Ontario and we got three snow days. It sucks that we have to go to school in -31 weather

  • I live in a suburb of Ottawa and we get 2-4 snowdays per year. Really sucks this year though because we've had 2 but one was during a day off I had after my exams so I basically got a snow day stolen. I was pissed, but my 8 yr. old brother was ecstatic

  • In southern Ontario my school had 20 snow days in one year. In one week during february 2007 we had 4 snow days and only one day of school. Roads during a storm here are insane during snowstorms especially if there is wind because the ground is flat and open. People in the suburbs need to stop bitching because one snow day disrupts their schedule.

  • ugh city people... rest of the country goes to school when its -46C. Like i did for a week.

  • @skiler12 I live in Winnipeg and the schools have to close when it is -45 with windchill. Don't know what you are going on about. :|

  • @BlackBookBattles well idk bout chu but we still have school at -45 and below its crazy

  • I've had only 1 snow day in my life, 12 years of school, and last year in edmonton, the first snow day ever. And to top it all off, I had to go the the U for a field trip so it was only a half a snow day.

And I've lived in Minny before too, you'd figure there'd be more snow days.

  • I live in Winnipeg Manitoba and I have NEVER had a snow day! I have walked to school when no busses were running and my mom could not get her car started in

-45 Celcius weather with a -53 windchill i swear to god, worst day of my life -.-...

  • yeah

  • Snow days were the best !

  • What the hell does this have to do with gaming?

  • HAHA John F Ross hasn't had any snowdays this year and only 1 or 2 last year!

    -.- it sucks.

my friend in Alabama had a week of snowdays because of only 1 inch of snow!!!

like come on Canada! this is more snow than last year!

    WE NEED SOME SNOWDAYS!!!

    =D

grade 10 student @ John F Ross CVI, Guelph, Ontario.

    GO ROYALS!

  • Hey fellow Canadians!! Come to my pge and click the link over my friends list....PLEASE! Read it and do what you want, but please read it.

  • theres nothing wrong with being gay or a fag. there is on the other hand a problem if your idiot. really bud. get a grip hank.

  • he's absolutely right. thanks rick

  • haha, i remember that day in 1999

  • I could not agree with Rick more!!

  • Expect in Manitoba where there is no such thing as a snow day

  • @poee450 Too true :(

  • oooo my public school and high school days were shaped by the things I did on snow/ fog days

  • @farmgirlnicole Absolutely. Mine too.

Some of my best memories were on snowdays/fog days. Sometimes I would find a ride into my school, and sit in the cafeteria all day gossiping with the few others who'd come in as well. On occasion we got free food, other times we'd leave campus and wander through town.

  • @farmgirlnicole Fog days? BAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • @ThePlasticPickle I know he is a foggot i have met him . I am guessing a guy that still lives at home like you that calls himself PlasticPickle is probally a faggot too .

  • Comment removed

  • Only a faggot like Mercer would have a laugh track added to his rants

  • @hanksnow82 His show is filmed in front of a live studio audience, Genius. The Rant plays on a TV in studio.

If you hate Rick Mercer, why are you here watching his video?

I know I try to do things in life that bring me joy. Sad life you must lead.

  • one of Rick's best and most Canadian rants

  • Here in manitoba we are quite familiar with Snow days and I loved them as a kid. It just like Rick said. Great memories of the 80's. But we also have had many no bus days lately due to below -30ºC days. Now that really gets the parents complaining because schools are still open but they have to get their kids to school.

  • It's so true who doesnt love snow days we've even had days that where just to cold to go to school!! I -3 canada!

  • In over 20 years of education I never once had a single class cancelled due to the weather...that's what I get for living in Greater Vancouver! :(

  • *for like a week sorry typo

  • Haha I've been out of school fit like a week (Feb 1-10 and counting) and we have already used two snow days in Jan my mom is getting so mad, the catch we're canadians living in Oklahoma

P.S. we have the best drive way :P

  • YES. I HAD A MATH EXAM THAT DAY. Hurray for SNOW DAYS! What a coincidence!

  • @Vicatoor same, it was great to miss my math test.

  • I've been at Memorial University for three years in NL, and we barely ever get snow days. That was of course until the disaster that was Igor hit, now Memorial seems to be a less hesitant in closing down campus.

We've had two half snow-days now in two weeks haha.

  • oh man.... i never get snow days... my math teacher keeps telling me that our school system never had a snowday =[

  • i live in ontario and have ine every week of the winter xD

  • live in st. catharines and we get tons of snow its on and off, ive had at least 1 snow day a year all my life.. ricks right who studies on a snow day?

  • I've never had a snow day and i live in Winnipeg im confused

  • @doomsword86 i live in winnipeg and have never had a snow day through my 12 years of school... saddly :(

  • I'm from Calgary and the only snow day I ever had was in Grade 1. That was 12 years ago.

  • I'm from the Vancouver area so it barely snows at all, but I had a few snow days when I was in elementary and high school . Best feeling ever, waking up and hearing your neighbour shoveling his driveway and some bloke spinning his wheels at the bottom of the street and knowing you can just build snowmen and drink cocoa all day! :)

  • he right...I am from Toronto and I never had a snow day...hear about it and wanted one soooooooo badly...never happened and now its too late...

    :((

  • Last month i was so glad that there was a snow day, walking home in minus 45 is not fun! that and i had a massive test XD

  • I'm from Nova Scotia, where a good year is when you have no more than 5 snow days - a month.

  • @RachaelSummer im Nova Scotian too!

  • @RachaelSummer It made me so sad when there was no snow until AFTER Christmas. I remember back when there was a huge blizzard on the first of December, like, every single year. Good times...

  • @Spaceman00Spiff I went to school in Edmonton. The justification for going to school in -30 degree weather was "if ONE parent doesn't hear it's a snow day and drives their kid to school, and the school is closed, that kid will be trapped outside all day long."

God forbid anyone use a bus.

The teachers still made us go out for recess.

  • @DoctorAoki

    And?

  • I've only had 1 snowday, fucking global warming

  • I live in Quebec and we have at least one a year. It's a very rural area though.

  • I've only ever had one snow day, only because it was Saskatoon's largest blizzard in over 80 years.

  • Hear hear!

  • When i heard TDSB closed down thats when its a real snowday.

  • I remember 1999's snowdays, that was awesome.

  • Sadly for me - there was no snow day - although other places closed that day.

We homeschool - if it's a good day for hitting the big hill in town - we go!

When I lived on a farm decades ago a snow day was often much more than staying home - it was often part and parcel of not having electricity. That's something few people today experience.

  • The snow day we had last week on the 2nd was on my birthday! haha It was the best gift because I was supposed to write an exam that day. :)

  • LOL! I love snow days!

  • days are set aside months in advance in newfoundland for snow days. go us!!

  • @mootar159 I was actually hoping for one today but my school didn't shut down :(

  • I had first snowday I can remember last week... it was at University of Toronto Scarborough lol... too bad I didn't have and classes anyway

  • I never got an official snow day...

It didn't stop me from staying home though. :P

  • East coast of Canada, we live for the snow days! All the storms we got this year, I'm surprised there hasn't been more snow days actually.

  • Oh Did I love snow days!!! Snow day stamps ... Why not ...

  • I wanted snow days when I was a kid. Curse my childhood in the 90's and early 00's.

I just noticed that I've never had a snow day in my life before...

  • 0:42

    lol hammerhead

  • I had my first snow day in my entire life last week. Im in university in toronto lmfao

  • @MamboPython

I guess you don't go to the real UofT campus at St.George haha

  • I got a snow day today, and does it ever feel good.
