I think I understand the whole truth behind Sari and her key; When she first approached the AllSpark, it opened up, and turned her security card into that key. Since the AllSpark had to have recognized Sari as part Cybertronian, it must have intended to give her the upgrade that would turn her into a teenager, but the security card was in the way, and it got that charge from the AllSpark instead.
