  • "Out of the Great Sea to Middle-Earth, I am come. In this place I will abide, and my heirs - unto the ending of the world."

    Rough translation.

Professor Tolkien really was a genius you know. A genius with imagination and a great heart. All throughout, he remained a devoted family man, and a philosopher.

    May he rest in peace.

  • "My friends, You vow to no one"

  • I cry during this part and get shivers when he says to the hobbits- you bow to no one today

  • Sounds like finnish :DDD

  • @Woigucca

Quenya is deprived of Finnish :)

  • @GokzTT Are somewhere subtitles to this song?

  • Comment removed

  • @GokzTT Tengwar ( Elven ) which has modes: Quenya Mode, Sindarin Mode, and even English Mode is based on the scottish and irish languages ( the celtic ones)

  • @Vlademkdbt

Yes, thanks for making it clear though, I speak little Gaelic, and it's the most beautiful language in the world.

  • @GokzTT I don't belive you mister!

I'm from Romania and i like my national language...may be you too with your origins!!!

  • @slowshadow1

  • @wasteofspace1234

    Oops, yep, sorry.

  • @Woigucca Mitäs voikukka ? :D

  • @BenderTheAlmighty Mitäs tässä :D

  • @Woigucca tolkien made up languages that resembled to finish and other norse tongues. i think finish was his favourite (if im not mistaken)

  • For some reason, the lyrics to this song never got out of my head. Et earello, endorenna utulien, sinome maruvan, ar hildinyar, en ambar metta ... no clue if it's spelled correct tho XD

  • "My friends you bow to no one"

  • Out of the Great Sea to Middle-earth I am come.

In this place I will abide, and my heirs, unto the ending of the world.

  • hee sings in elvisch or lattin?

  • @mrnicez

Quenya. Language that Tolkien himself created.

  • @GokzTT quenya is an elvish accent ;) but yes, tolkien created this language with own vocabularies and grammar...he was a genius

  • @GokzTT i heard it was just and old form of english atleast the funeral for theodred they used old english

  • If you like Viggo's voice in this, check out Sun Kil Moon, his voice sounds the same. Check out his songs Blue Heron or Carry Me Ohio.

  • @buswimmer21

Yeah, thanks for the comment, they do sound alike!

  • ELENDIL!!!!!!!!!!!

  • he looks like jesus :)

  • When i listen to this it makes me wish that the Middle-Earth was true and all this about the ring, and i wish that i was actully living in this time. And when it stops then i get so sad cause i wished to be there but i cant :p

  • :')

  • Some one help me out, I LOVE this song but it's not on any of the sound traks. please tell me where I can get this song?

  • This Song is so Beautiful.

I really love so serious, Calm and mystical voice songs.

  • As far as I know, he sings: "Et Eärello Endorenna utúlien. Sinome maruvan ar Hildinyar tenn' Ambar-metta." Which translates into: "Out of the Great Sea to Middle-Earth I am come. Here I will abide, and my heirs, unto the Ending of the World." Elendil spoke these words at his arrival in Middle-Earth, after leaving his beloved land Númenor, Westernesse or in their own tongue; Elenna-nórë. You should read the Silmarillion, in which you will read of Akallabêth, The Downfall.

  • thank you lord tolkien

  • @xHaldir

    Yes & Lord Peter Jackson

    Could've been bad you know

  • Whats Elendils Oath?

  • 6 dislikes must be orcs

  • Comment removed

  • It was said in Quenya.

Numenor was never a haven for the Eldar, it means "The Land of Gift", and was given to the Edain as a reward for their faithfulness in the wars of Beleriand in the first age.

Sindar became the default elvish language in Middle Earth in the First Age, when Thingol, upon learning of the Kinslaying, forbade it's use in his realms. It fell into disuse, and became a language of lore and formal occasions.

  • Today is J.R.R Tolkien's Birthday! Please like to give him respect!

    :)

  • @GokzTT Lol, it was Ediths birthday last week, she'd be 123 I think.

  • @GokzTT His birthday is the same as mine :D I was so happy when I found out ^^

  • Lol, 1337 likes!

  • just in case anyone get's the question about the lryics:

"Et Earello Endorenna utulien. Sinome maruvan ar Hildinyar tenn' Ambar-metta"

They were words that Elendil once spoke. Further information can be found in the chapter of Return of the King called "The Steward and the King" (near the end of the book)

  • ARAGORN WAS THE BEST KING OF EARTH MIDDLE XD

  • I was told a lot of people hated the singing..OK Eowyn's song was (sorry, but it was really bad!) cut, but I thought this worked well.. it was a statement.. he sang in Elvish (Quenyan or Sindarin.. anyone?).. that said he was back on track with the old Numenorean Kings..

  • @lozman67

I believe it is Quenyan, anyone if I'm wrong, prove me right.

  • @GokzTT he he.. even better!.. Galadriel must have taught him it.. Grannies have their uses!!

  • I'm pretty sure it is Quenya as they are the same words Elendil said upon coming to middle earth in the second age. Having just come from Numenor (which for a time was also a haven for elves before the whole Sauron thing), where much Elvish was spoken and Sindarin had yet to become poular...that's all speculation though...

  • @GokzTT

Yes, but it's Quenya, not Quenyan :)

Et Eärello Endórenna utúlien. Sinomë maruvan ar Hildinyar tenn' Ambar-metta!

Out of the Great Sea to Middle Earth I am come. Here I will abide, and my heirs, until the ending of the World.

  • @GokzTT, in "Real" English it would be, but in Middle Earth Quenya is correct.

  • @lozman67 It is Quenya, High Elven speech.

  • @retardinho :)

  • @lozman67 yeah it's quenya, "Et earello endorenna utulien" (out of the great sea to middle earth i am come) "sinome maruvan ar hildinyar tenn'ambar-metta." (in this land i shall dwell, and my heirs, unto the world-ending)... the idea is that elendil took this oath when he landed on Middle-Earth from Numenor, and either that all kings of gondor take this oath at their coronations, or aragorn chose to reaffirm the line of kings at his, specifically.

  • @mammothbane Cheers - I never knew that, and I thought I had LOTR boxed off - I have to bow to your superior nerdiness! :)

  • @lozman67

I think Eowyn's singing was supposed to be bad. As she is full of sorrow and the like. But I could be wrong, depend on how you see it.

  • if you are interested, check my profile, there you will find a cover of this song, thx ;)

  • The white tree is freaking amazing

  • 6 people are Orcs...

  • is this the same song the dwarves sing in the hobbit trailer?

  • @wakaluli

Nope, that song is about their journey to get their riches, whereas Elendil's Oath is about Aragorn & his heirs.

  • @wakaluli the one at the trailer is "the misty mountains" by thorin oakshield

  • @kain1290 the tune is similar though

  • @wakaluli No

  • 6 people are the most silly and mother fucking in the world piss of the 6 dislikers piss of fuck their mother

  • @PetrosIrma

No need to swear my friend, it's Christmas, have fun, don't lose all your attitude to dislikers, I don't care at all.

  • @GokzTT you spoke wisely and i am sorry and ashamed for this that i have said have a nice Christmas my friend

  • @PetrosIrma

No need to be ashamed, bless your soul.

  • @GokzTT thanks and may the God bless you also and bring you many good things and may give to everyone your counsels because they are wise and truth thanks for the counsel and your frienship wich you saw against me

  • @GokzTT Bahaha. I screencapped that conversation.

  • I get chills when he sings. And damn Legolas just comes in looking badass with his elfen brethren :D

  • Lord of the Rings is very good movies well done lets have more in same chategory !

  • The song makes me feel all middle-earthy. ):D

  • @AnimeAmimatorMizore

Yes, me too, I think about it. I still believe there are men out there, that are as honorable and good-hearted like Aragorn. He was my icon when I was small, and it was the very early movies I saw at an age which I understood. I may not be wearing any plate or mail, but I can also fight for whom I love, what I believe. :)

And deep inside, even though I'm very young, even when I be very elderly. I promise to you, that I won't lose my wits & morals.

  • @GokzTT i am in the postition to fight in plate and mail, (reenactor) thus i shall fufil this oath for you my friend

  • @spitandfire

Oh, I have already fulfilled my destiny as King of Albion XDDDD

  • @GokzTT Tolkien's writing is very understated.. there were no films of LOTR when I grew up.. but I love the films.we had to read between the lines..I have always been Boromir.. good intentions..but the cookie jar is just there..

  • DIS WAT U GET, LEGOLAS! (I lol'd at the last frame xdd)

  • You know this feeling, when you hear something really touching and it sends shivers all over your body, your eyes become red and you're about to cry from joy. I get that from this speech.

  • I don't find it strange to watch LotR again and again. The atmosphere of the movie can reach any part of the world and any part of the human mind and imagination. Inspiration is what's the key role here. One of the few movies that were not ruined by the Hollywood.

  • Et Eärello Endorenna utúlien

Sinome maruvan ar Hildinyar tenn' Ambar-metta

Out of the Great Sea to Middle-earth I am come.

  • It doesn't matter how many times you have seen the movie, you should be glad you were born in a generation that you SAW the movie.

  • It's so sweet that it ends with a beautiful shot of Aragorn's girlfriend.

  • Gave me goosebumps. LOTR rocks, super pumped for the Hobbit next year..

  • Out of the Great Sea to Middle-earth I am come.

In this place I will abide, and my heirs, unto the ending of the world...

These words are so powerful, whether in Quenya or our own language. Whenever I listen to this song, for the few seconds it lasts, I feel as if I am an inhabitant of middle earh, and I feel proud to belong to the human race.

Calma cé pella i mornië ná; ai sina anwa, nai cenuvalyes ar ná alassëa

  • Out of the great sea to middle-earth I am come. In this place I will abide, and my heirs, unto the ending of the world.-p1268 ROTK

  • @ cbrme97

Search for elendils oath lyrics in google and u will find it it starts with " et ereallo " i think

  • @cbrme97

    Et Eärello Endorenna utúlien

Sinome maruvan ar Hildinyar tenn' Ambar-metta

  • I don't thinks he's got a great singing voice, but that, together with the calm gruffness of his voice, actually contributes to the pure earthy feeling of this song. It's beautiful.

  • @brandiralavara5 I absolutely agree; since this is not actually a song but an oath, it fits perfectly.
