@TheAsept not really... the d700 is really good for sports events... cause of it's FX sensor... so you can use it at lower light... and got a faster shutter speed... negative is... that you will get just a (for example:) 200mm lens with a 200mm lens... cause you haven t got any crop like at the D300 (bout x1.5)
@MusicScoutMunichTrue, the D700 does have an FX sensor, but it will only remain full frame if you have a $1K+ lens attached to it. If you have a DX attached, it goes from Full Frame to 1.5x crop. Also, D300 shutter speed = 6-7FPS, while the D700 can only reach a max of 5FPS. And the D700 was intended to be a less expensive high MP camera for users not wanting to pay for the D3X, as Canon 5d MKII with 21 MP is to the Canon 1Ds MK III. The D700 had a remarkable 12.3 MP WHEN released - needs update
@juniortrooperfuture exactly... but you have the D3s before you have the D3x and before the D3s you would have the D700,,,, so why give the D700 to the D3x as an example?
@juniortrooperfuture well.. the D3x is SUPPOSED TO be an all around perfect camera.. but everybody knows.. there is no such thing.. I use my D300s for concerts and D700 for model shoots. so now that i think about it... you are very right =P

D700 is just a chunky / smaller D3 with little fewer functions... the D3s is JUST a D3 with D-Movie function... and the D300s is a high-end crop cam which (in most cases) is used for sportsphotography... but you can't say this cam is for this sort of photography and this for this part...
@MusicScoutMunich That's not a negative when you start using a full frame with wide angle lenses and see how much wider your pictures are. Plus the D700 can simulate the 1.5 crop factor for 6megapixel images.
i think this method was used to captured the motion dodge bullet effects in matrix movie. ive seen the making, dozens of DSLR were file in a tracking line and triggered them all at the same time, during NEO's dodging action...:) cool
