often when people do these mixes they end up ruining the song, but here its worked so brilliantly - counterpoint is easily my favourite song of 2010 but mixing it with La Roux has made it even better. There is a genius at work here !!

how did you seperate la roux's vocals? i'm trying to remix some songs but don't know how to get vocal only tracks.

@isdeceased In this case I used the instrumental and vocal versions of "I'm Not Your Toy" (full quality WAV rips of both) and filtered one from the other using a plug-in called Kn0ck0ut. Occasionally you can invert one from the other in Audacity and get near perfect results but it didn't work here.

@mach708 Strictly speaking, no there's not. But if you own legal copies of both the La Roux and Delphic tracks already then you couldn't be accused of stealing the bread from artists' mouths by downloading the mashup.

@GetDaSound I use mainly Sony ACID for mixing, with a little help on this one from SoundForge and Audacity to filter down the La Roux vocals.

Obviously that's just my personal opinion, you made it the way you did for your own reasons and I'm not knocking it as it sounds good but I would have sampled as much instrumentation as possible, and just used the La Roux vocal. There is a way to remove the vocal in ableton if you know what you are doing and I'm not talking about phase cancellation as you'd have to have the instrumental for that, which would erradicate the need to remove the vocal from the Delphic track.

It would have been better if you left out the counterpoint vocals, not that there's anything wrong with Delphic's vocals as Counterpoint is such a top tune, but going from La Roux's vocals to Counterpoint's seems to spoil the mash up. It starts off well, but the Counterpoint vocals do not work alongside the La Roux Vocals. Try a mix without the Delhic vocals.

I'm a big fan of vocal interplay so I like to keep the vocals from both tracks whenever possible. It would be a different track without the Delphic vocals but as I don't actually possess an instrumental version of "Counterpoint" I couldn't put one together anyway, I'm afraid.
