I doubt that Xel'Naga are dead. Just look at these Temple -- it can destroy something in measures of entire planet. Not excluding Zerd. It would be unreasonable if Xel'Naga who have such powerful artifacts (and I doubt that this Temple was merely weapon of mass destruction -- its energies were used such way) could be destroyed by Zerg, even though it was the entire Swarm that attacked their worldships.

It won't be interesting for Blizzard to give them simple "revenge against Zerg" storyline.
