  • Wow. Caught this just stumbling through some Guy Clark stuff. Dig this really deep.

5 * and subscription. Hope to hear more, early and often. Thank you for this.

  • Thanks so much for your kind words.

Guy Clark is such a great songwriter, isn't he?

  • WTF is this for REALS ? Your SCARY dude!!

  • very great !!! 5*****

    nice greetings from Austria

    ERNEST & SARAH

  • Thank you so much for your kind words Ernest and Sarah. Considering some of the writers that have come out of Austria, your comment is high praise indeed.

I'm just glad I'm alive today, rather than back then. There isn't anyone alive today that can hold a candle to what those men did.

  • Don't know if you agree, but I think you've caught the same writing bug that Dylan caught :)

  • Well thank you. If you're going to get caught by a bug, there's none better.

It's always struck me that the name of the game is to toss all of your influences into a pot and boil them down until you've got something you can call your own. And Bob was certainly in the pot.

Thanks for stopping by, and thanks for your insight.

  • Well you've definitely made it your own, I think you're better than Bob, on more than just this song :) But don't let it get to your head, we like you the way you are :)

  • ....it ain't Picasso's mandolin.....but it sure sounds good!! Really cool song Tom!

  • No, it ain't...but what is? lol

Thanks for stopping by, my friend.

  • Tom you have a cool original,sounds great bro...peace...[Freddie]

  • Means a lot coming from you, Freddie.

Give my best to Mr. Elliot and the boys.

  • great work!!!

  • Thanks man.

  • I always liked this one Tom. I still have it im my favorites. Talk to you later Tom. -Ron

  • Thanks, my friend.

Making your favs list is really very cool...at least it is to me, or to anyone who really understands music.

  • fantastic! woow..love that guitar work

  • Thanks, Tink.

I just saw, By My Hand. What a great song, and how very touching.

  • my favorite thing about your lyrics is your great references. Trotsky caught in Mexico city... good stuff

  • Thanks for such a nice comment, Kenton. You've got some realy good stuff going, too. I'm just getting to it now.

  • ....cool....I just watched the movie about Frida Kahlo.....Trotsky in Mexico!

  • Thanks. I haven't seen it. I'll have to go and find it.

  • Hey tom i just finished viewing all your songs and must say Its either this one or tobacco road which are my personal favorite. I love theflow of tobacco and love thelyrics of nothing less. I also like the heart you put into the river thames. Your brother ed is a damn good guitar player too. The lead he does on Angie really makes the song and in my opinion on par with the rolling stones version (which i never thought possible by the way lol ) Hope you put new stuff on hear shortly.

  • Thanks so much for taking the time, and for all of the positive feedback.

  • love it mate! very inspirational! great lyrics!

  • Thanks for taking the time to leave such a nice comment, Aaron.

  • Wow , this is so moving , as are all your other videos may i add. It is people like you that inspire me to work harder with my own music. Id love if it you could have a look at my own work sometime and give me some feedback as it would certainly mean a lot from someone as talented as yourself. Expect a subscription coming your way. Kind regards from England -Duncan.

  • Thank you very much, Duncan. I just did take a look, btw. You've got a whole lot of talent. Keep them coming.

  • You sing and play lovely:)

    Hilde

  • Thank you, Hilde. I can play alright at times, but I can't sing like you. I'm glad you liked it, though. :)

  • Had to listen twice before commenting. I'm floored.

Gotta go find more on your channel!

  • Thank you, Rachael. It never stops feeling good, when other very talented people like your stuff.

  • This is an Awesome Masterpiece:)I Love What You Wrote for the Description,You Have Heart and Soul My Good Friend:)Peace,Health and Happiness:)

    Rand(Bluesy)

  • That is high praise indeed, coming from a man who knows everything there is to know about playing it from the heart.

Peace, my friend - and say hello to Bluesy for me.

  • Great song man

    5*

  • Thank you, Jacques. I see by your channel that you're a Dylan fan, too. What can one say about Bob?

  • nice song man

  • Thanks, Jimmy. I really like your new one, too.

  • NICE COMMENT THANK YOU

  • damn how i wish i have that gift for creating riffs..like Tom..:)

  • Thanks, man. I'll make a point of stopping by and checking out some of your stuff, too.

  • great song!i like this song..:)

  • Stopped in for another listen,

You really do write quite well Tom :)

  • Great job, never heard this song before. Love the lyrics. Reflective and forward moving. Good strong voice you got there too. I like the deep baritone.

  • Thanks for stopping by and giving it a listen.

  • Hey there Tom. You are a fine writer my friend, about the best on YouTube and this song proves it once again. It's true prose set to music is what it is. You are on a much higher plain than most other folks on YouTube in that respect. Also, as I've said before, I really like the way you handle that big ole Gibson, always just right for the song. So, Keep on coming from left field buddy because apparently that's where your muse really is :) -Ron

  • That's one of the nicest things anyone's ever said to me, Ron. Thank you so much. It's funny, we were just talking about Gibson's the other day, and how one got away from you. But not to worry - if someone handed you a guitar made of plywood, you'd still find a way to make it sound sweet. All the best, my friend.

  • Tom, Heavy lyrics beautifully conveyed. Awesome performance. Thx. for singing your mind. Will you do your own version of Willie Nelson's song A Peaceful Solution? Love to feature you on Willie's Peace site. Liz

  • Thanks for the kind words, Liz. You know, covering a Willie Nelson tune is a tall order. No matter what you do, you just can't even get in the ballpark. But I will consider turning out a raggedy, pale, version of it if you like.

  • Tom, Willie wants you to do A Peaceful Solution in your own style. Please don't be intimidated. That is the last thing Willie would want. You can add verses and lyrics if you want so there is a lot more freedom than doing a cover. Yes, we'd love for you to do a version. Look forward to featuring you. Thanks so much. Liz

  • alright TOM !! been patiently waiting for this one.. lol. I dig it !

  • Dan the Man! I'm glad you liked it. And, yea, I'm sometimes struck down by what my grandfather used to call, "The Dreaded Disease of Laziness". But are you telling me that all this time you've been hiding the virtue of patience behind all those vices? lol :) Just kidding. You and Ron and Randy are the first friends I ran into out here, and that'll never change.

  • ummmm, good point ! I always look forward to your next vid though, patiently or otherwise. one of the writing classes I took talked alot about POV (point of view) yours is unique and I dig it.

  • Another good one Tom! I love the guitar work in this one!

  • Thanks, Glenn. I had Good Intentions (tremendous piece), but this is what came out. So, it's what I'm goin' with. lol

  • Hey Tom, looking at this reply I saw I had spelled intentions wrong, thanks for the spell check, LOL

  • Very nice Tom'' really enjoyed the slide riff ya run and the interludes were excellent also'

I really enjoyed the lyrical run also.. though I might suggest repeating " dont you see now baby " instead of " what were up against " in that third line there'' it just seemed to sound good and run better''.. just a suggestion.. good piece'.. Peace Michael;')

  • Michael, I'm glad you liked it. Your insight and input are always welcome. Keep on, my friend. "Lost for You " is one hell of a piece of work.

  • Excellent Tom, left field is where folk music came from in the first place :)

Interesting lyrics - "Hot and languid in the street" draws a clear picture.

  • Thanks, Jack. Now if I just had a voice as sweet and clear as yours, I'd have something to go along with the picture. lol :) Keep on singing for us, my friend. The world would be a colder place without it.

  • Great song writing Tom. Is that a Gibson Hummingbird your playing? Man that was always my dream guitar. You actually remind me of Guy Clark he did some great songs. I love his "Home Grown Tomatoes". Do you do that one?

  • Thank you, Gentlemen (have I mentioned how awesome your sound is these days?). And, yea, that's my Gibson. I love Guy's Home Grown Tomatoes, but've never sat down to figure it out. I did figure Desperadoes Waiting for a Train, though. I love that one.

  • Thanks for the coment. Do you ever do Heartbroke. I will be watching for Desperadoes from you.
