I have seen this musical once, and would love to see it again. This number is really well put across here. When I saw it, the Starlight Express was a disembodied voice.
I went to see Starlight Express after yrs of thinking i would never see it and even yet i cry when i watch the videos, it was as brilliant as i thought it would have been and would love to have the DVD to be able to watch it all the time, it was a time of very happy memories, thank you to all the cast for a wonderful weekend in London. Anna
Antmusic76................I agree, Steve Fowler is awesome. I'm glad you like my voice as well.......I was so sick the night we performed this for the Tony Awards. It was a miracle my voice held for that evening. God bless!
WOW!!! is that really you Greg. I'm surprised you have time for replies with that much talent. You are awsome Greg. I love watching this video, and have sung this song for my Britains got talent audition.
Lon Satton was good but Steve Fowler, seen here, was wonderful and has a beautiful, rich, baritone voice. He is also a very nice man. I pray you are well Steve.
This is Greg Mowry as Rusty & Steve Fowler as Poppa in the original broadway cast of Starlight Express at the Gershwin Theatre in New York City. The song is, "I Am the Starlight" and the full Tony Award Performance (not seen here) ends with an edited version of, "Light at the End of the Tunnel" with the entire original broadway cast.
The whole video of this, going into light at the end of the tunnel used to be on youtube but now I can't find it anywhere. Can anyone help? It was wonderful because, since it was specially recorded there were lots of brilliant close ups of the set. I only saw the London show and it was brilliant but the Broadway set looks absolutely wonderful - so intricate and so much more going on!
This is the 41st Annual Tony Awards broadcast by CBS television filmed on June 7, 1987 from the Mark Hellinger Theatre which is now the Times Sguare Church on 51st street literally across the street from the Gershwin Theatre where Starlight Express was playing. The first half of the performance was LIVE on stage at the Mark Hellinger Theatre and then the segway into a pre-recorded performance at the Gershwin Theatre with the entire Broadway cast.

Thanks for uploading Lofusze.
Greg Mowry is excellent, and I think Steve Fowler is outstanding. What a baritone. Wish I could get near to performing that well.
