  • So sad to see this park disappear. Many memories for me and my family as well as friendly atmosphere instead of the greed of the parks of today.

  • Thanks for posting this video. Somewhere I have pics of my kids there, and myself and my sister on one of the kiddie rides when we were little. I live a few miles from it now, but as a kid we drove 45 minutes to get there. To us, that was a HUGE adventure. Miss this place.

  • I'd do anything to go back to that theme park. Anything.

  • no pictures of the roller rink? sad :(

  • So sad to drive by and see condo's in its place. I would have loved being able to bring my own children there. I show them these videos and they both get very excited and say they wish it were still here ... as do I.

  • I have so many memories of this park. i remember my whole family used to walk down the street to it all the time. It's so sad driving by the place now-a-days- you see nothing at all, but you remember so much. it's horrible what they did... didnt even really save anything... just ruined the whole place.

  • What memories...from when i was a little boy with my grandfather on the railroad train circling the park, as a teenager flirting with girls, as an adult bringing my children. FIreworks, 4th of July, ice cream cones, arcade, the smells of the park, the Pirate's Den, the fun house, fishing, ski ball, friends and acquaintances, summertime, the drive-in, the Whalom ferry. My mom remembers renting rowboats and sailing the Lake with friends and singing under the stars. It was a beautiful thing ..gone.

  • I loved the Merry-go-round! All the p[onies had names and I used to like riding on the one that had my name.

I heard it's coming back. I hope so. What happened was just a shame.

    Great use of songs, scubabob!

  • I miss Whalom! I have such sentimental memories of it from my childhood. I grew up in Fitchburg, Townsend and Ashby, visiting Whalom a number of times every year. Working at Whalom was one of my first jobs, and I had such fun. My heart feels empty when I watch these videos and know that the park is gone forever.

  • anybody know what that tower accross the street was for?

  • omg I used to LOVE whalom park when I was a kid. still do now, I havent been there in a while.

  • did they take down the park?!?!

  • yes, but there is a rumor saying whalom will be rebuilt on the other side of the lake. but the carousel building will stay where it is

  • when was this?

  • lets face it the comet was never really that safe. But that was in the thrill. Whalom Park could have survived if people who managed it were not in for any finacial gain.Unfurtunatly thats what runs our society. Some of the rides were way over 40 yrs that that to was the joy. The neighborhood has gotten a lot niecer though scince Whalom closed,it's sad to say but true.Whalom was my first real amusement park not including Benson's animal farm, it was also my Mom's some 50 yrs earlier.

  • Sadly, another end to an era. They were unable to compete with Canobie and Six Flags. Whalom Park changed hands a few times and was run into the ground. The last time I was there the Comet Flyer looked pretty unsafe to ride and most of the rides there are 40+ years old and not maintained. Sadly, the value of the land eventually grew higher than the value of the buisness.....

  • culture is being torn down with the times. Not only physically but socially. This is what has always happened in this country though. RIP.

  • I miss going there when I was like eight

im 16 now, and i still miss it

    :/

  • The BEST of life. The memories are still strong. We are less with Whalom Park gone.

  • Thx

  • What is the name of the background song?

  • Holiday by Wheezer.

  • island in the sun by weezer

  • @notnowjohn89 Laura Ingraham uses this song as her opening to her radio talk show. I always think of her when I hear it.

  • How could anyone tear down such a work of art? So sad :(

  • Cried when I saw this. I know it well and I'm sorry I will never see it again. Thanks for the memories.

  • Thats really sad :(

  • Miss her. A gem. Cheers.
